My recent experience at Finn's was exemplary from beginning to end. I stopped by Finn's with a colleague for dinner. The exterior and the surrounding neighborhood doesn't really give a good indication of the goodness you'll find inside Finn's. Immediately upon entering, I was met with a lovely and bustling dining room. My colleague and I sat comfortably at a high top table. We began our experience with cocktails I got one of their specialty cocktails (it was a rye cocktail--I don't exactly recall the name of it). It was spirit forward and delicious. For my dinner, I got their chicken schnitzel. It was hands down the best chicken schnitzel of my life. It comes piled with a perfectly dressed caesar salad and topped with trout roe. My good gracious--I'll be dreaming of this dish. It was perfection. Our server was so kind and just wonderful throughout our experience. Can't really say enough--wonderful from beginning to end! Finns is in a very interesting area. When our uber first pulled in, we were unsure if we were in the correct spot. It's a bit chilly inside the small restaurant area. Bring a sweater in the winter time. The staff is fantastic. We went as a party of 8. The menu is small and absolutely delicious. Stopped by this soot for some Wednesday wings and beer which hit the spot. Service was solid, and it had the feel of a classic sports bar with laughter and chatter around. I tried the triple threat, and chipotle bourbon bbq. The bbq was alright, tasted like a Carolina bbq with some extra zing. I really enjoyed the triple threat sauce which had a bit more heat to it. Squatch was also tasty but, at this time, I highly highly recommend the bone-in wings as opposed to boneless. We waited an hour for a table. We waited an hour for our food. Our waitress was lovely and comped us drinks. She nearly saved the day. Nearly. My salmon was incinerated. The potatoes were over-salted. The snap peas were good with sour cream and dill. I don't know. Go for a drink and make sure you're not too hungry because the kitchen moves at a glacial pace and the front desk person has no intuition on how long you will have to wait for a table. read more

Heard nothing but great things about Finn's. Honestly all the great things were true. They have a different menu every week, which is cool! Sundays they offer chicken parm (not on the menu). From this week's menu I ordered the smoked mackerel dip (divine!), fried plantains (yummy), Mac n cheese, lamb ragu (so good), and swordfish which was definitely my fave! If you happen to come here when the mackerel dip and plantains are on the menu, try them together! I'm telling you it's like magic in a bite, the mix of the saltiness with the sweetness and spice the best pairing I've had in a while! The service was good just a tad slow, the servers were friendly. A pretty cool place for dinner and drinks with friends! Like a little warehouse with a bar and menu that switches every week. My friends and I really enjoyed our drinks, the banana bread espresso martini was delicious. Their menu is also creative and the roasted potatoes were so yummy. This was a very good experience overall. Our server was very upbeat, friendly and filled with recommendations/knowledge of the menu. Unfortunately, the service was on the slow side and water refills were not occurring unless requested. The standout dish was definitely the burrata which was filled with super fresh and complex ingredients. The dry aged burger was delicious too! As a whole, our table didn't love the sauce the plantains were paired with and would have preferred something quite a bit different. The chicken dish washed pretty good overall but not a standout. Finn's is a hidden gem in Troy--well, maybe not hidden anymore. The pasta is outstanding, but here's the surprise: you need to come for the burger. It's hands-down the best in the area--a perfectly done smash burger with Big Mac-style sauce and crispy, addictive fries, worth every penny (I'm acknowledging that yes, it's a bit pricy, but worth it). The bar is equally impressive: a true cocktail bar serving some of the best Old Fashioneds, margaritas, and creative recipes around, plus the standard Aperol spritzes and one-mixers. We recently met up with friends and had dinner here. It exceeded all my expectations and I'm happy to share my thoughts here. If you're not familiar with Troy, don't be put off by the location since it's a bit outside the standard "downtown" district. There is a small parking lot and plenty of street parking. The space itself isn't large, but it's somehow both cozy and eclectic. Our server was funny, helpful and attentive, but in no way intrusive. I wish I could remember her name. The menu has a number of small to medium plates and then a few larger plate options. We split the buratta dish and the buttermilk fried chicken. The buratta was a fascinating mix of flavors and was so delicious we all fought over it (thus no pictures). The chicken (more of a medium-sized sharable plate) was tender breast meat with slightly spicy batter in a verde sauce. As a huge fan of the three best food groups (crispy, savory and spicy), this was my favorite dish. It's more than enough for four to share. Two of my group got the sausage ragu bianco and loved it. I had a bite and the pasta was perfect and the sausage was flavorful without being greasy. I had the mushroom tostadas and they were perfect. The mushrooms were smoky and savory and the tortillas (blue corn) were fresh and didn't even break! Their drink list is interesting and includes some nice mocktails. My only regret is that we didn't leave room for dessert. I cannot say enough good things about our experience and I can't wait to go back (especially in the nice weather when they open the big doors). What a great new spot in Collar City! I had heard about this restaurant from people all over town and on Instagram too. I decided to check it out on a Saturday night and was sat immediately upon arriving. They have a few booths, many high-top tables, and bar seats. Their cocktail menu is pretty impressive! I went with the Spicy Ginger Margarita, which had the perfect amount of heat from the jalapeños. My boyfriend ordered the 13th Album- a non-alcoholic drink with ginger beer, black tea, and citrus. It was a great choice! For our appetizer, we opted for the Shrimp Dumplings in red curry sauce. The portion size was amazing! There were about 6 of them, and the sauce was so creamy. It had a great amount of heat, too. For our entrees. I ordered the Buccatini Amatriciana - a pasta dish served with pork cheek and chilis in a fresh tomato sauce. The portion was massive, and the pasta was so fresh tasting! My boyfriend ordered the fried chicken sandwich, and the Calabrian Chili Honey sauce on it was perfection. The fries were also super tasty and reminiscent of good fast food fries. Overall, Finn's is a great choice for good, elevated eats in a casual but modern environment. Stopped in for our official anniversary, and let me tell you what. The food was 10 out of 10. How do I rate? Presentation, Quality, and pricepoint. The portions were esthetically pleasing and gorgeous. We ordered the smoked trout dip for appetizers, our cocktails of choice were an apple cider spritz, and a dirty Shirley temple. Our mains were the dry aged double burger and fish and chips they were kind enough to change up the sauce for my husband due to his mustard allergy. Everything was incredible. The flavor of the smoked trout dip was balanced, which can be rare when dealing with smoked fish. It was light and refreshing. Our cocktails were perfection and well balanced. The dry aged burger was well seasoned, and my husband really loved the house made sauce and said rhe French fries were crispy and delicious. The Fish and Chips portion was huge. The coating was perfectly crispy and not overcooked. The cod was cooked to perfection and moist. While it's oddly located, it's an eclectic little spot. We (3) hit it at prime dinner hour, waited 10 minutes at bar, where we had a nicely mixed cocktail. Sadly, no hard ciders ( which is for two of us adult beverage of choice-9 Pin being the top). Menu is short and sweet. What seemed to be starters were fairly high priced. We had the fried chicken, pacchiere, and crispy shrimp. All were excellent, highly spiced sauces. $18-22 per but good sized proportions. Service was efficient and quick. Very enjoyable meal. Space is a bit noisy, all seating high tops, even dinner tables. We had one of two 3/4 enclosed booths which provided some noise dampening. Went to Finn's with some friends and had an amazing experience. If you haven't had the opportunity to eat here - be sure to put it on the list! The restaurant is cozy with an overall great vibe for a date night or an evening out with friends. The appetizers are generously sized and delicious. I cannot recommend the Duck Fat Tator Tots enough. They are so delicious. We also tried the duck tostadas which were outstanding. For dinner I had the burger and I feel confident in saying that it is the best burger in the capital region! We love this place. The menu is always changing yet somehow consistent, the drinks are always delightful, and the staff is pretty stellar, too. Parking can be a little tricky for the uninitiated but if the 5 spots in the lot are taken you can park against the building across the street or anywhere on the block nearby. It may seem like there's no parking, but there is. The space is simple yet classy. It can get a little loud but I don't see how that can be avoided if the weather isn't right for the garage doors to be open. Seriously, pick anything off the menu and it's gonna be good if not Devine. Beer menu is somewhat limited but they do a great job with what they have. The sweet potato crème brûlée is bizarrely exquisite. I didn't want it at first but was convinced by my wife and she was spot on. It's incredible. We typically order 3 shared plates between the 2 of us and that's always too much food. But I will not dissuade anyone from ordering the entire menu. read more
