I sent them the coverage we were looking for (50k bodily injury/100k per accident, 50k property, 50k per person uninsured motorist, 50k underinsured motorist, etc). I have zero accidents or moving violations, and these coverages are perfectly normal and well above the minimums MA requires, so any agent worth their salt would jump at the chance to get this done. Here's a direct quote I got back from one of their agents, Richard B: I have completed a review of the automobile policy document that you have provided. The coverage provided by [Current Auto provider] has limits of coverage that I would not be able to reproduce with my group of carriers. Unfortunately, I do not believe I would be an appropriate "fit" for you auto coverage. My apologies for not being able to be of assistance to you. I guess they only write minimum auto policies? I'm in the insurance industry, and that was the laziest of lazy responses. How on earth would anyone ever depend on an agency like that if they got into a car accident? A good insurance agency needs to deliver follow-up when a claim is filed, which is when the insurer they represent sends money to YOU. Aegis failed miserably on delivering follow-up at the part where I was sending money to THEM. The agent I initially spoke with followed up shortly thereafter with the excuse "I don't know what he was thinking writing that". Regardless, I decided to take my business elsewhere. FYI: I was easily able to find those coverages elsewhere. As should you.
