Headed South this afternoon and grabbed some lunch. Decided to give Steelbound a shot. Separate lunch menu, didn't really look at the full menu. Wasn't aware that they're not only brewing their own beer they also distill their own brand of liquor. Bourbon, whiskey, vodka, tequila are the ones I noticed. There could be more. Didn't indulge but I was surprised to see. Jordan, our server, was great, very personable. Food was amazing also! I went with the heat, Jalapeno bacon burger and my wife went with the sweet had the Bacon blueballs burger. Both cooked perfectly and topped with fresh ingredients and a decent portion of bacon. Had a great little reunion with family at Steelbound Springville! Two of us got the signature drink flights- big fan of the Hurricane while my sister liked the Blue Balls the best. The meal was pretty good- I like my wings extra extra crispy and naked- then I dip- they were done perfectly! My family got a variety of their delicious salad entrees- the Strawberry Salmon looked and tasted great and the Steak and Greens looked great but was reportedly "okay" and lacked tomatoes (included in the description). Not pictured was the Beets and Greens- PLENTY of beets to be had on that dish. Great looking bar. Beautiful use of space. Had a great meal and a nice Honey Citrus Martini this past Friday Eve. There was an outdoor band for "Bike Nite." The place was pretty full but still had good tables available at 7pm. Our waitress was oh so helpful making decisions from a great menu - good looking plates passing us by as they came out of the kitchen made for tough choices! We settled on two pasta dishes - steak Gorgonzola and the Cajun chicken. Although looked a bit too watery, we both agreed that a quick stir and a bit of cooling made for a perfect consistency. Our chicken tenders were RAW & fatty. Our Italian chicken sandwiches were made with grayish looking chicken that was extremely stringy/fatty. We ordered the stout porter and a pinot noir for lucious libations. The stout was fabulous. The pinot, servicable. My friend said the beef on weck was also quite good. However, he asked for medium done beef, but it was well done. I wanted medium rare beef on the Hot Roast beef entree, but my beef was also well done. The gravy was not beef gravy, but either turkey or chicken gravy. Still good. All gravy is good. Just sayin, The fries were fabulous, fresh cut and yummy. My friend's Cole Slaw was "interesting" and "good" (his observation NOT mine) and had pineapple in it. He liked it. I thought it repulsive in theory, but I concede I did not taste it. Extremely understaffed. We dined in the dining room as a party of 13. There was also 2 large tables dining along side of us and our server was also assisting several tables in the bar area. After all of our food was delivered by only our server we called to her attention that we were missing an entire order. She apologized and said she would take care of it. The order finally came out when the checks arrived which of course included this item at full price.... Where was the management? No one helping her run food, no management to come to the table and apologize or ask if everything was ok, if there was any kind of management they let this poor server handle the entire restaurant and customer service herself. This was now my 2nd time going to this location which is Springville, NY. The first time the waitress forgot to bring us our appetizer, and still charged us till I said something. Yesterday was the second time and I went with my child and husband. My husband ordered a French onion soup and I got a house salad along with our entrees. The waiter never brought our soup and salad out till our entrees were ready which at that point I would have never ordered them. The soup was sooo salty. I asked for ranch and the server never gave me ranch till I had to ask AGAIN. We got the 'new' item on the menu which was the seared pork tenderloin. ABSOULTEY no flavor at all. Omg I have NEVER in my life had lobster Mac and cheese as good as this place!!! By far that most amazing food. We also got the 3 pigs pizza that was so fluffy on the crust but not doughy. It was creamy and just amazing plus they cook the ingredients under the cheese so nothing falls off! This was amazing! And the beer is just a addition to the meal! Listen, if you like to prepare your own salads (they come in large pieces of vegetables and chicken), well then this is the place for you! I ordered the beet and green salad with chicken, and it took me at least ten minutes to cut all of the things you would expect to be already cut up in a salad at a restaurant. So strange having to prepare my own meal. However, once it was properly chopped, it was delicious! Beer was pretty good, too! The whiskey battered fish fry was excellent and came with potato salad, crispy fries,bread and a crunchy pickled slaw. My favorite is the Monte Cristina. A Hugh sandwich with turkey,ham and cheese on blueberry bread, dipped in batter then grilled, dip in the blueberry sauce and you can't stop eating it! Definitely a different delicious twist ! For people that are local, this is the same location as the old "Pops". It's a really good little place. The dress is business casual to snowmobile suits. Lots of room for all those helmets and equipment. It had a different type decor (lots of Marti gras type skulls ) and great food. I had the lobster mac&cheese- it was really great. We had a party of 6 and everyone was happy. If I had to say anything needed work on (and this is reaching), I would suggest less IPA beers on the very extensive draft menu (it's a whole page long!). After the closing of Papa Jake's a few years back this new brewery and restaurant has a fresh new look for springville. Always happy to see new people and the bartenders are personable and interested in getting to know their customers. Food is always hot and fresh and the drinks are always cold and tasty. If I could leave any less stars, I would. A group of 12 of us were here this past Saturday. Two of us ordered "signature" cocktails and had to send them back because they were made incorrectly. We knew they were made wrong because we just ordered them prior and they were made completely different than what we were given, that should have been our first clue as to how the evening would go. Then came the appetizers; stuffed banana peppers were still raw, crunchy and not cooked through. Two orders of calamari came out, both very different from each other. One plate was completely burned, the breading was actually black on pieces. We politely asked our server to take that plate back. She seemed annoyed that we wouldn't stomach the char and reluctantly took it back to the kitchen. The other plate was ok, people were just happy it wasn't burned. Then the meals came, all of it looked good from afar but was far from good. Any food that was made to order; steak, burgers, fish were all cooked incorrectly. The steak was so hard it was like pieces of leather. The salmon was over cooked and dry. The burgers were all over cooked. The cajun chicken pasta was like a bowl of soup with some noodles and chunks of chicken thrown in. The lobster pasta was the same, soupy consistency with chunks of lobster and some noodles. The beer can chicken was extremely salty. As if they let it sit in brine for a week and just took it out and served it. Someone ordered a beet salad and there were no beets on it. When we asked for the roasted beets as the menu described, we were given a plate of beets from a can. There was a lot of unhappy people at the table. We didn't make mention of everything to our server but someone did mention the salmon being overcooked. Our server took out her cell phone, turned on the flashlight, proceeded to shine it on the salmon and defend how it was properly cooked. We have never in our lives witnessed a server act like this. We understand large groups are stressful and we did not complain about everything, had we done so, her cell phone battery would have died because she would have been shining her light all night long. The food was disgusting. Before we left the restaurant someone was in the bathroom sick. We didn't think twice about it. Within two hours, four people out of our group were violently ill. We can't pinpoint what food exactly caused them all to be sick. We suspect the calamari, pastas and the beer can chicken. We will not be back here, ever again. read more
