two men sitting at a bar with drinks

Stopped here on Veteran's day weekend. Fall in Ellicottville is very busy. My husband, son, and I sat at the bar to enjoy our meals. Service was hit or miss but due to the volume totally understandable why service was very slow. It didn't help that I had a starving teenager that wanted his food asap. Our meals were enjoyable when they arrived and the cocktails delicious.

We stopped here for a late lunch after a day of fun in Ellicottville. I had a Bloody Mary to drink - the mix was delicious. I got a gluten free pickle pizza to eat. The gluten free crust was surprisingly good! The toppings were delicious. I've been here a few times now, and the food is always great! The bar has a fantastic selection of house made beer and house distilled liquor. Awesome beer menu and cocktail menu.

A nice looking building but the interior is pretty dark. We were with a group of ten and as they had just opened it wasn't busy. We were waited on quickly and our server was friendly. Almost every sandwich and burger on the menu was $20 which is pricey but normal for Ellicottville. We asked for a couple separate checks as some we're paying with cash and some with cards but they said they couldn't which was definitely a huge pain when bill paying time came. I got the Monte Christo sandwich which came on blueberry bread and sounded so good but was only ok. The bread was dry. My husband had beef on Weck which was only ok too as it was very well done.

Fried Cheese curds 10/10 Lightly battered. Very good. Sriracha not very spicy which is good for me. 3 little pigs pizza 4/10 I wouldn't order their pizza again. First it did not look like the photo. Way less arugula than pictured. The dough was thin but not like a thin crust, more like a dense and tough flatbread. Not a huge amount of flavor besides dough and balsamic (which is weird because the description didn't even mention balsamic on it...). Except the bites with sausage, you can taste the sausage pretty well. Didn't realize there was bacon or prosciutto on it at all. And couldn't taste any of the cheese. Definitely needs about 3 times the toppings to go with that bland dense bread taste. Buffalo Chicken pizza 4/10 Same dough as above. Not enough blue cheese or toppings in general. Carrots on top weren't my favorite either. Not what you expect for "Buffalo chicken pizza". Wouldn't order again. Bacon Blue Balls Burger 8/10 Burger was decent. Asked for med rare but was more like medium, did not have any pink. You could taste the blue cheese crumbles and the caramelized onions pretty well. Didn't taste the bacon a whole lot and i can't say I tasted any bbq sauce on it at all. Doesn't need the tomato either. Beer reviews can be found on Untappd.

Have stopped in a few times, always an enjoyable experience. We always sit at the bar and have a drink or two and we've had apps a few times. Bartenders are always nice, drinks come quick and they always have sports on the TV

Lots of beer selections. Made in house and others. Flights of 4 or 6 are available and all different types no matter the season! - Lagers, sours, stouts, etc. The inside of this place is so cool and they have a very large patio that wraps around from the front to the back of the building with an additional outside bar in the back. The food was really good too! Portion sizes are Huge! I got the home made buttermilk chicken tenders and it was AMAZING. There was enough food on my plate for 3 dinners! Seems like a great place to watch a sports game or hang out at night!

Stopped by while we were in the area and sat on their patio. Our food came out right away and we couldn't get over how good the cheese curds & wings were!

Love this place! I came here back in November with my women's motorcycle group for a chapter meeting. We rotate the location of our meetings because our members are spread out all over WNY. Steelbound accommodated us beautifully. I made a reservation a few days in advance because I didn't want to chance it. I'm glad too because we would have had to sit at separate tables if I hadn't done that. Once our entire party was present we started with drinks and appetizers. They have flights of not only beers and wines but also cocktails. It was amazing. They even let one of the ladies substitute one of the drinks in her flight of cocktails for another because she doesn't care for Moscow mules. After ordering appetizers to share around the table we all chose individual entrees. No one was dissatisfied as the portions were perfect and the prices were reasonable. The food was delicious. Our drinks were always full and the service was pleasant. They even let us pay separately. What great service. We will definitely be back and I'd recommend this place to anyone.

1st timers here. I had a flight of beer and wife had vodka drink. Both were great. For food we had a souvlaki salad with chicken and a salmon salad. Again both were wonderful. Cool vibe and the service was excellent. We will be back!

I went here today with my kids and some friends and their kids (ages 6 to 8 months). It being a Sunday at 1ish, we figured we'd miss the lunch rush and be able to cruise in and out. Somewhat surprisingly, it was pretty much full (which isn't a bad thing), but we got lucky and were able to sit within about 10 minutes. The place is quite fun with walled-off bar and table areas that adjoin at the front with an open space and the small music stage. The decor was cool with rough cut wood everywhere and TVs playing the Olympics (go US curling team!). And even though it was really busy, it wasn't all that loud given the number of people. Once we got seated though is where things started going off the rails a bit. It took a little bit for our server to come see us and then even more time to take our orders. The whole time she seemed either disinterested or distracted and certainly in a rush. I also got that same kind of vibe from the other servers I saw bouncing around too. In any event, we got our orders in and then it took them quite a while to come out as well even though we didn't get anything really special - pot roast poutine and side salad for me, cheeseburger and fries for my son, pizza with black olives for my daughter, and then our friends got chicken fingers and fries and I think maybe another cheeseburger or something. All in all, I think we ended up being there around an hour and a half through no fault of our own. For a beverage, I ordered myself an espresso martini. Now, mind you when I asked for a cocktail menu, they had none. They also "only" had 3 or 4 kinds of gin, to which our server told us that's not actually what it's called the "Gin" Mill for (not sure if that was sarcasm or serious). Either way, not really what I was expecting but oh well. It is a pub after all. On the flip side of that, I saw what looked like some really excellent looking cocktails being served up at the bar. Seems like a missed opportunity to me. On the food side, my side salad was pretty basic - lettuce, green pepper, tomato, and onion. I asked for balsamic and ended up getting two ranch. Oh well, I still like ranch. The pot roast poutine was absolutely epic though. Is it trying to actively kill me? Of course it is with all that fatty meat, greasy fries, and gravy. Aren't I allowed to splurge for the sake of you readers out there though? The roast was melt in your mouth tender and some big chunks of it to boot. I brought about 3/4 home and it made excellent leftovers for dinner too! The pizza was solid with a good cheese to sauce ratio, a nice, fluffy crust, and good overall taste and texture. I got a bite of my son's (plain) cheeseburger and it was also quite good with quality-looking bun and some really nice sear marks on the burger. The fries weren't my favorite with the sort of weird crunchy texture-style that like a Burger King has, but that's really just my personal preference. At around 230 is when the band started playing, which was an older couple playing some country tunes. My kids decided to go out and dance for a couple minutes, which the musicians seemed to get a kick out of. It was tough to make out the words she was singing, but it was a fun vibe regardless and it wasn't obnoxiously loud either. All in all (and cheating looking at some of the other reviews), it seems like this place has some front-of-house issues that need addressing but their food and drink are pretty solid. Since there's not a ton of food choices in town, I'd consider going again, but with EBC and others in walking distance, I guess there's not really any compelling reason that I should when I only make it down this way a couple times a year.

Bartender, zero personality, and he was miserable. We were w some friends in for a wedding and spent several hours at the bar greeting newcomers in for the wedding. C'mon, man. The Rachel can only be described as warmed lunchmeat. It was terrible, to the point of disgusting. I've had many a great time and good meal at the Gin Mill. We took a seat in the back with a view of the mountains and started to watch the skiers. The dining area was large and clean, and the waitress came and got our food and drink orders moving quickly. Our little yelper opted for none other than the children's tenders. She ate almost all of them and the fries, they got a thumbs up review. The waitress was even nice enough to hook our kid up with a nice helping of pickles too. The misses opted for the pulled pork melt, even with the mafia sauce she told me it was rather bland in the flavor department but the onion rings were sizable and crispy. I opted for the chicken Caesar salad, but there was some miscommunications in the kitchen and I wound up with steak (not a bad thing) but our waitress asked if it was ok. Steak was cooked perfectly and the salad itself was piled high. Overall, not a bad dining experience, it should be a 3 , but the awesome service took it up a notch. Possibly the best French Toast I've ever had. It's egg battered which is a plus. They also give you plenty of syrup and butter. I got the Gin Mill Brunch Burger because I was craving some burgers, but I didn't know they had a separate breakfast menu, so I went with the brunch burger, which sounded good. It's a normal burger but with egg and instead of using regular burger buns, they use a bagel. It also comes with diced hash browns which were very flavorful. As much as I love burgers, this one just wasn't as good as I hoped. Mainly because of the bagel, which was harder than your typical burger bun. The burger was also lacing some flavor. Our server was also very nice and explained everything to us. The interior is also very nice and has a historic atmosphere with lots of taxidermy.

Very good beer menu, despite there being no Scotch ale. Boo! One friend was very happy to find Sam's Cherry Wheat among the selections. I made do with a Prosecco from their decent wine list. I wish I'd remembered that I wasn't all that thrilled with the crab cake at Public House on the Lake. Not that it's bad. Just not the "jumbo lumps" I prefer in a crab cake. Cajun aioli - yum. The friend that ordered the steak sandwich cooked medium received it well done, but said it tasted good. And she's really picky about her beef. Stinger sandwich and chicken fingers were pronounced fine. French fries were not. Shoestring isn't my favorite cut, but these were limp and greasy. Wet potatoes? Oil not hot enough? French fries shouldn't be this hard to get right. Minor complaints: no blueberries in the EBC blueberry wheat. For shame. You're right next door to its birthplace! And serving a souffle cup with the lid still on is just a wee bit tacky. YES, I'm picky. And proud of it.

Finding any GF options when visiting small towns can be a challenge so I'm really thankful to have found Finnerty's! We ordered: - Jalapeño Poppers (for my gluten-consuming husband) - Stuffed Banana Peppers (Gluten Free) - Chicken Wings ordered well done with hot sauce (Gluten Free) - Smash Burger on Gluten Free Sesame Bun & Chips - Hamburg Carrot Cake Brown Ale (for my Gluten-consuming husband) There were only 3 Jalapeño Popper left so our server didn't charge us for them. They were your run-of-the-mill frozen poppers; nothing special. The Stuffed Banana Peppers were a special for the day and they were pretty delicious. They were cheesy, stuffed with sausage and topped with a delicious tomato red sauce. The Chicken Wings were well done, as we requested but were average which was a surprise considering all of the claims to be award winning. The Gluten Free Sesame Bun was one of the best GF buns I've had but the burger patties were average. The meat didn't seem like it was seasoned but the cheese and grilled onions helped add some flavor. Not worth $15.95, in my opinion especially because you have to pay $1.50 each for any additional toppings and it only comes with generic potato chips. The Hamburg Carrot Cake Brown Ale was listed on the draft beer list but was served in a can. Our server was attentive and had a kind/sweet personality. Here's a few highlights about the space: - Pool Table - Golden Tee Golf Video Game - Hockey Foosball Table Game - Old Arcade Video Game - 8+ TVs; I believe they're usually tuned into sports. - Music was really loud; it was somewhat difficult to hear our server. Overall, I would come here again when visiting Ellicottville and try other menu items - like the Gluten Free Pizza and whatever their daily special happens to be.
