Service was great. It is a little sandwich shop just as described. I had the patty melt. It was good. Not memorable but good. Fries where hot. My husband had the cold bbq sandwich with potatoe salad. He said the potatoe salad was outstanding. The sandwich was very good. They did sit his sandwich in the potatoe salad which was inconsiderate. Our kids had a banana split. It was big and enjoyed. Wish they would have taken the banana stringy pieces off. All and all they are worth a stop. 10 times better than fast food. read more

Can't beat it!!! The chicken salad sandwich is a staple. Burgers are amazing. Most of my family swear by the chopped BBQ sandwich. Kids love the milkshakes and ice cream treats. Potato salad is delicious and unlike any other. Insider hack - they will sell their potato salad by the pint if you pre-order it. I go there every chance I get! I called in and ordered a ribeye sandwich with potato salad and chips. There is an area which looks to be dedicated to pick up orders, but they are very busy at lunch time, and I still stood in line for 15 minutes. Prices are very reasonable for the portion size of the food. My meal was delicious. The interior could use some updating. read more

Finney's takes the old adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" and adjusts it to, "If we can still (inexplicably) pass our building inspection and (inexplicably) pack the place for lunch every day, don't fix it!" The interior is dingy, mismatched, and gives the sense that they are squeezing the last few miles out of a mid-70s simulated wood grain update by adding a few mid-80s plastic booths from a yard sale. There are wires hanging from the ceiling, and rugs placed over large areas of the floor that have crumbled into the earth. You will find a decent tasting prepackaged-patty burger, their yummy mustard-based potato salad, and an old-fashioned, real ice-cream milkshake here for $10 to $12. Not bad if you're ok with slightly overpriced, slightly below-average diner fare in a place that could be so much more. read more

I grew up here and is very familiar with Finney's. Their packs everyday during lunch hour. I've had several things on their menu, so I feel qualified to give you a rundown of this restaurant. Best thing on the menu: Patty melt Worst thing on the menu: Hot beef or pork and their creamed potatoes are gross. The potatoes are instant and their not made well at all. The chef salad is worth the price. It has everything on it. They use sliced cheese instead of traditional shredded cheddar cheese but the salad overall is still good and you most likely won't eat it all. The hamburger steak with grilled onion and gravy reminds you of home made meal. I'm not crazy about the potato salad. It's mostly mustardy and lacks flavor. However, the cole slaw is homemade and it's delicious. The tuna salad and chicken salad both need seasoning but once you doctor on it with a little salt and pepper, it's good. Note: all sandwiches are made with regular buns or light bread. The same size it would be if you made it at home. read more

Great hometown diner feel. Simple sandwiches and sides for a good price. The potato salad is unlike anything you will get at another restaurant and very good. The patty melt is fantastic and the roast beef sandwich is very good. My wife ordered a chocolate malt that takes you back to old time soda shops. I ordered an orange freeze that I will be thinking about for a while. All in all a great place to go for lunch when you don't want the typical fast food or chain restaurant food. Another old Tupelo tradition. Only open for a short period around lunch, decor is from the 50s and the clientele is either the lunch rush or old men who like to congregate and drink coffee here. Burger/Fries/Shake is very decent - along the quality of Johnnie's Drive In. Service will be slow, food will be moderately warm. Shakes will be ice cold and fantastic. I have enjoyed the classic "Finneys" food since the owner worked at TKE drug store. The best chicken salad and potato salad. My daughter swears by their BBQ sandwich. Best little old hole in the wall in town. Contrary to other reviews, I know for a fact that -everything- here is fresh made. Nothing, and I do mean nothing comes prefab from a package... and the best part about it is, the recipes have not changed in 40, almost 50 years. If the owner can't get one of the required seasonings or ingredients, he simply will not make whatever menu item it is that lacks it. -That- is how much integrity Finney's and the Finney's name has. It may not be fancy inside... It may not be the most modern decor... but the place has integrity and responsibility to its robust and very dedicated customer base. -That- is what makes it a known classic in town and that is something that reviewer M.R who posted prior to me just doesnt understand. The diner fare is the same as it has been for almost half a century, and the prices have stayed proportionate to what they were at the time too. In a city thats changed radically by both time and tornado in the recent past... its really comforting that some things will -never- change. If you are a tupelo LOCAL, one who has lived here 20 years or more... this is definitely a place that will give you that feeling. read more

I grew up eating downtown at TKE Drugs and now enjoy Finney's! It's just a relaxing old time diner with old time diner food! My favorite is the potato salad -I will buy extra and serve to guests. The decor IS outdated - but I think that's one thing that makes Finney's special! It sends to back to a simpler time for just a bit!!!!! read more
