Ok it's my 2nd time visiting this place, I just had to see if it was really good or was I just hungry. The folks were just as friendly as before and the restaurant was clean and inviting. We stopped in for breakfast during our stay in Tupelo, trying to experience the "local cuisine". It's pretty convenient, you step up to a window and place your order which is provided to you through the same window within a few minutes. I wanted mac and cheese but I guess that's not a thing people do for breakfast so it wasn't available at the time of our visit. I settled on an egg biscuit and a side of grits. In retrospect should have ordered cheese on both. GF ordered a chicken biscuit and tater tots. When everything came through the window, it was piping hot. The egg biscuit was ok, nothing extraordinary. The grits were very bland, they could have used some salt and probably would have been enhanced by the addition of cheese had I thought to order it. I didn't eat them more than one bite. GF's chicken biscuit was one of the most slutty things I've ever seen. I mean, overflowing with gravy. One definitely needs napkins. She says it was "just ok". The tots, which remained piping hot for quite a while, were INCREDIBLE. I mean like probably the best tots in existence. The experience was a bit underwhelming for us and nothing to write home about. read more

I ordered at the walk up window but noticed they have tables inside. It's 726479 degrees outside today so I opted to wait inside where it was cool and decided to eat inside also upon receiving my meal. A little bonus I wasn't aware of which was great because the heat almost changed my decision to eat here in the first place.....so yeah, kudos for that. Ok the meal. I ordered a snack pack which consisted of 2 strips, choice of sauce, jojos and a roll. Chicken was fresh fresh. Like I had to wait a bit to eat it fresh. Same with the jojos. The strips were pretty solid: decent size, not dry at all. They could have been a bit more seasoned but that just a personal preference thing. Nothing to knock the place for. The jojos don't fit the description of jojos I've had in the past but that was a good thing. These are smaller potato wedges and are far superior in my opinion. The King Sauce is homemade and delicious. Like a light honey mustard and I am not easily impressed with most honey mustard variations. The roll was a basic King's Hawaiian roll straight out of the package which is great if you like that sort of thing. The service: 5 stars easy. Very friendly to me, the other customers I saw them interact with and amongst each other. They seemed as if they enjoyed their job and that in itself says a lot. There is a mural on the side of the building that says "Eat like a king" with Elvis of course. Inside some of the ceiling tiles are decorated with local Tupelo flair. I'll be back. read more

"Can't judge a book by its cover." When driving by not exactly the place that you think to stop. An old gas station that has some of the best fried chicken you will ever eat. Have had the fried Chicken platters as well as chicken biscuits for breakfast, NEVER disappointed. Service is always great as the staff is always very polite. The rustic atmosphere along with the Elvis mural on the side of the building let you know you're in the right place. Check the hours before you go, closed this past Saturday and Sunday. Someone didnt just put their foot in the mac and cheese they put the whole leg in it. This is what Southern food should be. The unsweet tea was as dark as my Ex-Wife's soul but im a good way. Chicken was crunchy and juicy, slaw was solid, and the house made hot sauce would make baby Jesus shed a tear it was so good. If I had not been with my Wife I would have ran inside and kissed the cook on the mouth whether it was a Woman or a Man. Straight up homerun today. The chicken was tasty - light flour seasoning and very moist and juicy. The pieces were undersized, however and the the sides were flavorless. They had several home made sauces to accompany, but I was not a fan of any of them. They also had a big rack of hot sauce options, but half the bottles were dried up and obviously just for show. We finally were able to stop here on our way through the area. It's a drive we make about 3 times a year and we always want to stop. Well we finally made it today and we will ALWAYS stop here in the future. The fried chicken is definitely "King-worthy!" And the Jo-Jo Potato Wedges were delicious. The Cole slaw is a unique vinegar base and fresh, crunchy and sweet. The Peach Cobbler could not have been better! My 6'8" hubs is a bit food-aggressive (lol) and as someone who loves to eat, he loves to cook even more. He's quite the home Chef and said everything was "FANTASTIC!" Probably one of the best places to get chicken in Tupelo. The grilled tenders are definitely my favorite in town. I like the honey bbq dipping sauce, which you can get for free on the counter. It comes with king sauce which is a mayonnaise base honey mustard best I can tell. It's not my favorite but it's pretty good. You can also get 3 different wing sauces and dry seasonings definitely try them all. I have also had the chicken salad it is very good. The sides are also good, however you might find them to be a little different from traditional sides. You can also get chip, candy, and even fresh fruit to go with your meal. Dont let the gas pumps out front this is way better than any other gas station food I've ever had and believe me I know gas station food I'm a long time truck driver. We were trying to find somewhere unique on our way back to St. Louis from Gulf Shores and saw this place listed on yelp. So glad we did!! The owner and staff are so friendly and helpful. My son got the chicken tenders and then tasted my mac n cheese then got his own (he's a mac n cheese connoisseur so huge praise for theirs that he finished it all). I got the Birddog which is cut up chicken tenders with bacon, tomatoes, lettuce and cheese on a hot dog bun. A little bbq sauce and it was fantastic! Found this restaurant on Yelp driving west on I-22. Right off the interstate, it does not look like much from the outside, but it was an excellent place to stop for lunch.
