I went to Finnegan's this afternoon for lunch and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. When we arrived, we waited to be seated even though the restaurant was clearly empty. After waiting a while, my boyfriend decided we should sit in the bar area where guests could seat themselves. It took a few minutes, but a waitress did come over and took our drink order, which arrived quickly. After that, however, service really slowed down. The service was okay, but they weren't staffed properly. Me and my husband had a date morning, and made reservations. In the morning, they play some heavy rock music, which didn't quite set the mood we had hoped for our romantic morning breakfast. We both ordered the #2 special. Our pancakes were rubbery, and had a funny taste go them. While eating pancakes, it's unsetting to have a black specks that taste like a unknown spice. Our waitress was lovely. SERVICE: 1 star I have been going to Finnigans since it was Nicklesons. Service is usually good with the exception of Thurs. October 3rd. We all ordered soup and then an entree. The soup arrived and before we were able to have more than a few spoonfuls, our entree was placed on the table. I only said "Wow, already?" The waitress didn't get the message. I took her aside later to let her know that we didn't eat our meal because of the temp. And not because of the quality of the food. Her face described exactly what she thought of me, not a pretty sight. I had already overheard it was her last week of work, so she had nothing to lose I guess. Great atmosphere, a tv when your bored, pub style as it states. Lots of leg room, clean washrooms. We ordered a turkey dinner, calamari, and fish and chips. The turkey dinner was only 15.99 an the portions were humongous, the calamari and the fish n chips was just the right portion. I have eaten here several times and was very disappointing tonight with the chicken wings I ordered for take out. I was extremely excited to sit in my easy chair at home, pop in a movie and dive into a pound of wings however when it finally happened the wings were either burnt/dry or just generally awful. Consistency is defiantly not the strong point here. read more
