The garden is organized into themed sections with pathways to follow to take you through the different garden areas. There is the Japanese Garden, the Butterfly Garden, the Children's Garden, and the Rose Garden, to name a few. Each visit is a little different, depending on the time of year and what is in bloom. On this visit, I was amazed by all the different dahlias, the beautiful roses, and the whimsical rock garden populated by gnomes.

One of our nature stops while visiting family needed to be Singleton Park. This place isn't huge,…read moreso if somebody had already planned a company picnic or family reunion or something of the sorts, there isn't going to be a lot of spare space for others. That being said, this park, albeit somewhat primitive (just not fancy), is really nice. The grounds keepers do a nice job keeping up with the mowing and pruning. The path on the far side of the park leads down to the water and gives you a great vantage point of where the North and South Umpqua rivers run together prior to becoming the Umpqua and heading out to the pacific ocean. The setting here provided for some nice back drops for some pictures with family. Unless you are planning a picnic or something your trip here probably won't take exceptionally long, but it's well worth the few minute drive to get here and check it out.

But there are some shady spots just above the river with nice grass, perfect for a picnic. The gps took us to a desolate train yard, the parking lot is another 100 ft.

Its location is also beautiful because it overlooks the South Umpqua River. Park goers can take a short walk to a spacious dog park or follow several trails that run along the South Umpqua River. Whether a person wants to explore nature, have a picnic, or play games with the kids, Micelli Park has something for people to enjoy. This park is a nice addition to a sketchy part of town.

In A Nutshell: -It's…read morenot too often you can actually walk down to a dam & watch real fish inside the water like an aquarium. -You can do that at Winchester Dam and Fish Ladder, which is a National Historic Landmark in our great country the USA. -You can easily find parking in the small lot, then walk down the concrete/mental stairs towards the dam. -There are plenty of places to take some really nice photos of the entire dam & Umpqua River. -As you walk down the steps towards the fish count area, you will be able to see real fish struggling against the strong currents through glass. -You can see all sorts of fish if you wait a little. Overall, this is a nice place to take your family.

We stayed across the street at the RV park and walked over only to turn around because we had our…read moredogs with us and lo and behold there was a big red sign that said "NO DOGS IN PARK BETWEEN MAY 15-NOVEMBER 15" idk what is up with that but we had to take our doggies back to our trailer. So we took a drive through the park the next day on our way back from town and it is a beautiful park, it sits on the banks of the North Umpqua River which is a very nice river. This was a free fishing weekend in Oregon so it was a popular place to be. Too busy for us to even drop a line in. Maybe next time we are passing through it won't be during the restrictive months and our dogs can enjoy this really pretty park. I'm sure it is because there are people out there who don't have dog etiquette and don't clean up after their pets which is too bad for the rest. Nice park though well kept and it has a boat launch, group picnic areas that you can reserve as there were reserved signs up.

The people of Roseburg are so nice! Lots of retired people and families with kids who are very involved raised over 2.8 million dollars to build this brand new facility for tennis lovers. This facility really adds to the attractiveness of Roseburg OR. Recently a costco and other big businesses have moved in, but the house prices are still low for what you get. What a place for families and for retired people to live. This facility really adds something to Roseburg. I think more and more people will move here and the value of property will rise because of all this growth, which this new facility is certianly a big part of. Kuddos to the tennis lovers of Roseburg OR! What an accomplisment.

Our guides Brent, Carmen and Greg were fantastic…read more The overnight lodges were comfortable with good dinners and breakfasts, each one offered private rooms with private baths, hot showers. The rafting itself was amazing with a variety of rapids and scenery. We saw a lot of wildlife around the lodges and during rafting. Our guides made great lunches which we devoured at gorgeous locations along the river banks. The front desk staff that helped with our reservations as well as pre and post trip lodge accommodation at Morrions lodge were nice. Shout out to Lisa for everything she did to make our experience memorable. Highly recommend the rafting as well as the morrison lodge. We will be back soon

I have a group of friends who do hiking trips together every few years, and this year we picked…read moreMorrisons Rogue River hike with support from guides on rafts. Booking the trip was relatively straightforward, but Morrisons highly encouraged us to do trip insurance because they don't offer refunds, which should've been the first red flag. Before I go too far, I do want to give a huge shout out to our guides Drew, Adam, and Johnny. They were amazing, and if I were rating just them, this review would be 5++ stars. They were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and genuinely cared about us and our hike. The rest of the Morrison's staff...not so much. There was an active wildfire in the area before we started the hike. We talked to Morrison's several times in the days leading up to the trip (before we flew out) and even asked about rebooking the trip for a different time, when the forest in the area wasn't on fire. We were assured that even though they were planning a few modifications to our itinerary (i.e. at least one day of rafting instead of hiking), they were confident that it would be a wonderful trip. Fast forward to the end of day 2 of our trip...and they had to cancel the rest of the 4-day hike due to safety concerns and, ultimately, a mandatory evacuation. To be clear, I'm not upset that we were pulled out of the woods, as that was an obvious safety decision. I'm mad because we specifically asked about rebooking for different dates and were told no. Morrison's got us back to their main lodge the following morning, at which point they considered themselves done with us. There was no refund, no help finding rooms for the night, and the last lodge we were in literally wouldn't even let us use the bathroom in the hour we were waiting for vans to get us back to safety. Morrison's did at least send us all an official email about the trip cancellation so that we could share that with our travel insurance (if we'd purchased it) to try to get a refund, but that was about it. Morrisons also made the guides tell us, rather than having anyone higher up in the company talk to us. From what we can tell, they also didn't do anything to help their guides (e.g. helping them find lodging) once the trip was canceled. I will also add that I'm vegetarian, and although there was a lot of very tasty vegetarian food available, vegetarian protein was extremely scarce. For dinner the two nights we hiked (~9 mi on day 1 and 15 mi on day 2), there was no source of vegetarian protein for me to eat. (The gluten free and dairy free people fared much better.) It would've been so easy to roast a portobello mushroom the way they roasted salmon, or to do some kind of meat substitute when they did ribs (they did have meat substitute at the lunches, and eggs or veggie patties at breakfast). I had brought some protein powder with me, but not enough to make up for dinners without protein. My friends ended up giving me the protein bars they'd brought for themselves to try to make up for the dinners. To Morrison's: please consider all macronutrients (carbs, fat, AND protein) when planning meals for your guests! Overall, I would absolutely go back to the river with any of the guides, but I'll never use Morrisons again, and I recommend that you don't either.
