This is my second time ordering from this cart. I ordered the Kathi roll and mango lassi and both were very good.

The Chicken Tikka Masala was phenomenal, the garlic naan was rich and flavorful, and the samosas were delightful.

The potato pakora is just straight up fried dough. I thought the first time it was a mistake with my vegetable pakora that they messed up the cook, but these are just as bad. Neither time I ordered pakora was it ACTUALLY pakora. It doesn't even resemble anything I've EVER had anywhere else in 20 years. When I say this is bad, this is baaaaad. The vegetable samosas are MUSH with undercooked dough. Never have I ever had vegetable samosas that are basically fried mashed potatoes. This is SO disgusting I can't eat it. It's so hard to screw up samosas and yet they somehow managed to do so. No whole peas. Nothing even resembling a piece of potato. Just...MUSH. The rice was massively overcooked, dry, and crunchy. I'm so embarrassed for them. You all should be ashamed to sell this mess.

I was so happy when an Indian grocery moved into Gateway. This place has been here for awhile now,…read moreand I probably come in once or twice every couple of months for both hot food and spices. My friend and her son came over last night to make Rasam, so we were off to shop! Let's start with the hot food. It's great and there's usually 2-3 veggie curry options along with the usual chicken tikka, butter and both regular and garlic naan. Reasonable price at $12 an entree w/rice and it's a full clam shell of food. Al la cart, is I believe a bit more pricy if going by plastic container. But is still less spendy than a restaurant. So if you need some good to-go, this is the place. Oh, and free chai tea at the counter while you shop! The "sit down" space that I've seen, Is a hit or miss as I've seen it both open and full of boxes for storage, so maybe they just open it at certain times of the year, I wouldn't count on it. The grocery side is amazing, has everything you could possibly need, except the fresh veggies in the front can get quite picked over if you don't go early. Not so pro-tip, but there's more veggies in the back area, like curry leaves and fresh herbs. Great frozen section with about a million naan and samosa selections and ready to eat food. Spice prices here cannot be beat, I can usually get out of here with everything for my spice box, for about 15-20 bucks and lasts forever. Check out the small cart by then cash register, if you don't need a pound of cumin, lol, as they also now sell small qualities for a few dollars or less. Which if you don't plan to make Indian food everyday, is fantastic! The store is pretty packed to the ceiling, so be prepared to browse around and do some hunting--if looking for chutney or other jarred items, the end caps can kinda hide them. But, if you need it, it's there. They have a small parking lot right before the door, so make a hard right. Otherwise, it's the street and with the busy liquor store and bar, and the semi-new (last few years), street changes, there are less spots and it can be little--well stressful with all the Gateway traffic. Totally check this little spot out, love supporting these local folks, brining a taste of India to the neighborhood.

This is not an unbiased review -- I've known Deepak (the owner) since he was a Linux geek instead of a chef -- but really, the food is awesome. What the cart serves is Indian/American fusion food. Like pulled pork with chutney and tamarind BBQ sauce. Many of the sandwiches sound weird, but they're all really good. Trust Deepak's palate, he knows flavors. Most of the menu is sandwiches, with a few other things like their terrific papadums and "frito chaat". Do note that the green chutney is very, very spicy. Chaat Wallah is on the property of a former garage, with Upright Brewing pouring from 8 taps inside the garage. There's a ton of outdoor seating (most of the seating, really), so you order some food, get a brew, and find a picnic table. Folks from all over the neighborhood, plus their kids and dogs, will join you.

I had walked by this spot a few times but had not run in for a bite until my friend said he loved getting momo here! And of course, we couldn't pass up on getting some chai either. He had dropped by a few times and had chatted with the owners as well so I let him order to his hearts content and just stayed around for the culinary ride. We got the dhal bhat, lentil soup, and veggie momo to share and he grabbed some chicken momo to go. All of the food tasty wholesome, hearty, and made with care. Definitely worth the price and effort. The chai was also boiling hot and perfectly sweet without being too much. Fyi they also have soy and oat chai if you prefer to have something non-dairy! All in all this is a cute spot, may be a biiit less ideal on rainy or really cold days, but hey the chai can help you warm up! Parking in the area is street parking and can be difficult during peak hours, but otherwise not too bad. Prices are fair for the quality so get out there and support a local business!
