Bought a Hearthstone brand Lincoln soapstone woodstove from everwarm. Ordered end of November…read more2023. Didn't arrive until February 2024. Problems with fire burning after closing stove door and almost goes completely out when closing the "bypass handle" after reaching temperature indicated on the catalyst thermometer as instructed. Called to complain. Said they'd send installers out to take a look. Since the woodstove is the only source of heat in our home, we had to keep using it but it acted more like a pellet stove than a woodstove. 2 weeks later, installers come out and add a 10" extension chimney. They attempted to start the fire and it did the same thing for them. Installers said they had a 4 inch air intake that might help but they wouldn't advise it as it may make the house too hot. Ours has a 3 inch. They left saying they were going to contact the manufacturer and get back to us. Didn't happen. Baffle board broke and couldn't use stove at all. They said the manufacture was notoriously slow in responding to orders and we didn't get the baffle board until summer. Still complained about the stove not burning and they said they would get back to us. Started using the stove again when the weather started to turn cold and complained again and was told they've been having issues with that particular model and went on to say why. I also told them what the installers said about a 4 inch intake and the person said they disagreed with that assessment. Was told that she would talk with their installers and get back to us. Didn't happen. I called back a week and a half later and spoke to a different person and again gave the same complaint. She also said they were having issues with that particular model. She also said she didn't agree with the installers assessment regarding the size of the air intake. She said she would email the area rep, out of Utah and that he may come and take a look at it. She also advised they may have to replace it with a different stove. She then said she'd get back to me. Didn't happen. I called them over a week later and spoke to the same person. She didn't remember our conversation until I reminded them that they were to have sent an email to the area rep. She then said she would talk to one of the installers who was in the store and also call the area rep instead of an email, then get back to me. Didn't happen. Tried calling back but no answer. Recording said to leave a message, press 1. pressed 1 and was told that wasn't one of the options. Tried calling back the next day and recording said they would be out of the office until January. Today is 12/22/24. I know this is a lot but I want/need a warm house!!! Scott P

Now 7 years later, they are still my go-to company for hvac services. Their costs are competitive, their work is high quality and they go the extra mile standing behind their work and products. I have used them for my yearly maintenance, for a replacement for my heat pump when my previous one hit 16 years (typical life span) and to service my propane fireplace. I strongly recommend Richard and Strait Comfort Solutions for your HVAC needs.

The last two companies that serviced the fireplace over the past 14 years are now either no longer in business or no longer servicing fireplaces. One of them gave me two referrals to try and I called both. One got back to me the following day, however Straight Comfort Systems got back to me the same day and fit us in for a service visit that evening. I had seen the negative reviews on Yelp, however I had also seen the positive reviews on Google. Given all that, I decided to proceed. In recent weeks our fireplace had started shutting off and turning back on during operation. The duration of the times it was off had become longer and more worrisome, to the point where we were reluctant to use it. Fearing that we would be without the fireplace for the Holidays while waiting for a replacement part (the manufacturer, Lennox, is no longer making fireplaces), I was expecting bad news. However from its behavior he expected it might be a clogged orifice in the pilot assembly, and when he disassembled the system enough to get to the pilot valve he was able to clean out the clogged orifice. Since he re-assembled the system, the flame has been consistent without the intermittent shutting off we had experienced before. The work was done quickly and professionally. Also, a less ethical shop might have told us we needed to replace components, so I was also impressed that he was able to fix the unit with only a reasonable labor charge. I'm an engineer, and from my discussion with Richard I can say that he is extremely knowledgeable on these types of systems. As a result of this experience I would recommend Straight Comfort Systems.

They showed me how bad it was falling apart to the touch...this got the ball rolling in my head (since i do have some roof leaks from around the chimney maybe) to address the chimney. These guys (again, off the street, no truck or anything) weren't going to be who i hired. So i had 2 companies come inspect & bid (both priced the same) and i went with Ed's. Oscar is the owner, Ed's son, and he's been doing chimneys for his whole life. When the owner is actually doing the work himself (like i do) is always an "im sold" situation for me. He and his assistant were at my place, on time, at a time that worked for me, for 5 hrs/3 days. Oscar explained every detail, answered all my questions, spotted some minor leak related stuff on my roof and fixed it at no extra charge. He is VERY in tune with maintaining high customer satisfaction. He was also conscious of making sure no carbon monoxide would creep into the house. He improved upon that exact situation that a previous heating company handled in an inferior capacity. They left no mess. I'm super happy with the new chimney! i have no doubt if there is any issues in the near future, he will be on top of it.
