Walking in it was a nicely renovated building. Staff was very friendly. They definitely charge a hefty price for what you get. The ambiance is definitely what you are paying for. We had pizza and wings. The pizza is extremely small and if you have ever had any other wood oven pizza to compare it to, this one wasn't very good. Crust was more crispy than chewy and had no char like wood fire normally do. Wings were ok taste was good but served lukewarm. We left hungry and probably won't be back an $80 bill left us disappointed and somewhat dumbfounded. I guess maybe because there isn't much competition in this area?! To the people who did not like my review. The review was honest on my experience. I have been accused by others on here as to doing things I did not do. I never used any profanity. I never went to the back or even argued with the waitress. No other table said a word to me or about hit me. I assume the manager handled the situation well. I really don't know. I've been using Yelp for years without an account and made one just because this is one of the worst restaurants I've ever eaten at. My girl and I got the wings and two of the specials.... the nola chicken and the brisket burger. The chicken was super salty and the brisket burger was garbage... go home and cook a cheap frozen burger, it'll be better than what you'll get here. Super overpriced for crap food. If you're originally from Dothan and never lived outside the town, don't bother reading this. You won't understand. We just had an absolutely horrendous experience at this restaurant for my wife's birthday. It started with a bartender who couldn't understand simple English when I asked for a second drink. Everyone else in my party got a second drink but the person paying the tab did not. I did penalize her appropriately on her tip for this. Next, although we specifically requested a certain waitress with whom we have had excellent experience in the past, we were given a different waitress when we sat down at the table. But having waited exceedingly long time, we decided not to press the issue. We ordered appetizers, dinner, and wine. The stuffed mushrooms were okay. The spinach dip arrived cold or at best tepid. The grated Parmesan on top didn't even make an attempt to melt. And I never could figure out what was with the weird orange base color. One would normally expect spinach and artichoke dip to be green. After one bite, I sent it back to the kitchen with a request that it not be brought back ever again. It was truly disgusting. Right on top of the appetizers being put on the table, our salads arrived. Outstanding. Give us all our pre-meal it once and then let us wait another 40 minutes for our entree. Outstanding. The salad was okay. The vinaigrette absolutely lacked any imagination whatsoever. During the very long wait for our entree, I decided to go to the restroom and wish I had brought a gas mask. The stench from the urinal was absolutely overwhelming. My wife reported that the women's room had a shortage of toilet paper and she had to ask a lady in the next stall to help her out. Very classy. Our veal marsala arrived at the table. First, there have been some menu change at some point which removed anything from the menu as side dishes which might actually go with veal marsala. In the past, they had a very nice rice pilaf, but now they only had sauteed spinach, onion straws, sweet potato tots?, battered fries, Etc. Hoping for the best, we had ordered the sauteed spinach. I'm wondering if it ever occurred to the chef that he could actually add something besides griddle fry to the spinach to sautee it. For example, when I saute spinach at home, I add minced garlic, Herbes de Provence, and a touch of balsamic vinegar. What we got was mushy, tasteless, green goo. As far as the veal, the portion had greatly shrunk in the last 5 months, had enough gristle to be mistaken for bear, and had about as much taste as a Gerber's starter meal. Truly shameful. I would also point out that we also ordered a bottle of wine with our meal. It arrived uncorked and then recorked. It's good to feel absolutely certain that the $40 I spent on a bottle of wine was absolutely not adulterated in any way. I'm used to having my bottles of wine uncorked at the table. But then again, this is Dothan, Alabama. Most people in this town don't know better and put up with this garbage. In short, this is a meal we'd rather forget. And we are definitely scratching off this restaurant from a list of restaurants we used to frequent quite a bit. I don't know if they lost their chef recently, got new management, or just decided to stop giving a crap about the customer, but I'm out. P.S. This place was a pleasant surprise. We visited on a Saturday night; the two of us shared a spinach salad, which was a thumbs up. The pizza was good, but a tad more oily than I might have expected for a wood-fired pizza. Service was great. Waiters were pleasant and the food was delivered quickly. The ambiance was wonderful and we sat right near the ovens. At maybe 8 or so at night, it wasn't crowded at all. The best part, though, was the Key Lime pie. For the past three years, I've not found anything that held a candle to my all-time favorite, which is at a far, far away restaurant. This pie, though! Just the right amount of tartness, not too sweet, served with delectable (real) whipped cream . . . and just the right texture. For years now my work has brought me into the town of Dothan. The restaurant of my choice, by far is the Firestone Grill. Firestone Grill has a great food, staff and service, always with genuine smiles. Sit at the bar and you may be lucky enough to have long timers, Bartender Chrissy or Kylie. Two amazing people of whom are very friendly and are there to make sure my experience is hassle free and to my liking. While making me feel special, I sit and enjoy watching my favorite sport while drinking the coldest beer in town. Sit at a table and you might experience two long time Servers, Sara and Katlin of whom are attentive and always make me feel like I'm the only one in the restaurant. I surely cant leave out the fact that the food is amazing. Never a bad meal. The success of this restaurant is over seen by the leadership of a conscientious Manager, Brannon. He is always walking the floor making sure all is up to standards and is never shy to engage in mutual conversation. I highly recommend you try Firestone for yourself. To start, we ordered the bacon-wrapped stuffed shrimp, stuffed mushrooms, and poppers. After putting our order in, our server came back to let us know that there were only two shrimp left. She said the kitchen was still preparing them for us (at no charge) but asked if there was something else we'd like to order instead. We decided to go with the Fire Stone cheese sticks. The shrimp we did get were excellent, and the stuffed mushrooms were a close second. The cheese sticks were like any other cheese sticks, only made out of Monterey Jack instead of mozzarella, served with a watery marinara sauce. The poppers were very nearly a complete fail, the stuffing supposedly being crab but tasting entirely like breadcrumbs. For entrees, our friend went with the fish tacos, I went with the Cajun angel pasta, and my husband decided to do a half-Fun Guy and a half-Hawaiian Delight pizza. Our server brought out the tacos and pasta at the same time and said that there had been a mix-up in the kitchen, delaying my husband's pizza. That seemed to explain the sitting-under-a-heat-lamp appearance that my pasta had. Not a huge deal, I mixed it all up and took a bite. I actually winced, that is how salty it was. The cream sauce was just so excessive, in addition to being excessively salty, that it overpowered everything on the plate, which is a shame because both the shrimp and scallops were cooked perfectly as far as I was concerned. I don't know what flavor profile the chef is going for, but surely it isn't to mask the taste of the actual food, is it? Hubby's pizza eventually came out and looked like really nothing special at all. For a restaurant that has "wood-fired pizza" in the name, you'd think that it would be a little more aesthetically pleasing. The description on the menu listed "cherries" as an ingredient on the Hawaiian Delight, which is a bit inaccurate. There is a huge difference between "cherries" and "maraschino cherries out of a jar" - which is actually what was on this pizza. He didn't care for it, and I refused to try it because maraschino cherries gross me out. The Fun Guy, I did eat a piece of, and it was good. I enjoyed the thin crust but was expecting something, I don't know, a little more gourmet than button mushrooms (which the menu also failed to specify). The fish in our friend's fish tacos looked to be blackened fish sticks, which yet again was not accurately described on the menu. He said it was good, but not $22 good. Lastly, I must comment on a cocktail I ordered. As soon as I saw the BLT Bloody Mary on the drink menu, I wanted it. It arrived at our table with an old, sad-looking piece of bacon along with a thick SLICE of tomato. We all had to laugh at it. Note to the bartender, maybe some cocktail picks with cherry tomatoes may improve the presentation of this drink. It was also incredibly salty, and I could not drink more than half of it. The menu certainly looks to be a foodie's dream, but Fire Stone's execution the night we visited was almost a complete miss. Maybe later in the evening on a Sunday is just not an ideal time to dine there, and while I think it does have potential, I don't think we'll be back. While the service was pleasant, for the price, the food just wasn't worth it. This used to be the best restaurant in town. It is now the worst. The food was just horrible. Their prices are high and the quality of food is sad. No flavor. Went for brunch and grits came out cold. When they brought them back they were hot, but had no flavor, no cheese, no nothing. Tasted like raw grits. Even the bread they serve is just plan white bread. Not toasted or buttered. The service was friendly and quick. We had a tough time deciding between all the awesome selections of pizza, and our waiter suggested spilting it in half for us so we could try 4 of them! We ended getting the greek pesto, meat baby, italian stallion, and hawaiian. Loved the flavors of the itallian stallion and hawaiian.
