I've been playing for the last 45 years, and have been to all  those stores where you either got too much love, or could not find anyone.  I have 2 sons who both play in Athens bands and have been telling me about this place.  We were welcomed at the door, nicely, and were told to play around until something looks, feels, and sounds right.  We ended up trading in a bass (5 string) for a nice 4 string.  All the deals were fair and communicated well.  This place is highly recommended! Special thanks to Doug for the great service! read more

This store is a joke the employees are useless all a bunch of unprofessional CLOWNS. I bought and paid for a Peavey Mace VT head on line because a employee told me to do it that way I wanted to do it on the phone when we were speaking but he said to do it on line that the best way as it will be marked sold. So I did and I had a receipt to prove it!!!! The next day I get a email saying that due to being busy they never marked it sold and someone in the store sold it to someone else and refunded my money. I didn't want a refund. It's virtually impossible to find one of these amps and if you can they are extremely expensive and hard to find. What they did is illegal and fraud!!!! I will be seeking further legal action against this company and its employees!!! I can't speak for there other stores but this one is not legit and the staff has mentality of a small child. One very angry first time customer and never will be again. I even gave them the opportunity to make it right but not even a response. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS STORE!!!!! read more

This place is great if you know what to look for. Used musical equipment, so buyer beware. Peruse the stock and play what you want. Hard. Careful, play everything and give it a workout. I bought a used electric/acoustic guitar. It's a gem! But, I found three others that when I tried them, they were flawed. I showed them to the staff and they took them off the rack to the back of the store for repairs. I had the same experience with one of the amplifiers. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall a good experience, but seriously, know the product you are looking to buy and play it hard. Their stuff is all used so be careful. Not for serious players. Disorganized lowballers. I called and described my equipment and was enthusiastically told to bring it in. After driving an hour from the city I was told they weren't sure if they were buying right now. Ok. We Schlepped it in anyway and the assessor struggled to get a sound out of his crappy behringer testing amp because his cable was trash. After he got it together he offered me 700 on an item he said would go around 1500 online. I literally went two blocks down the street and guitar center wrote me a check for 1050 instantly. I think if you are a beginner or trying to sell student level stuff maybe this place works. If you're a real player looking to wheel and deal your rig into a better place I would say stick to guitar center and reverb. read more

We've been shopping here for a couple years now ( when our teenage daughter became interested in playing the guitar) and it's definitely the place to go for quality used gear at reasonable prices. The single worst "store" I've ever dealt with in terms of customer service and arrogance of the "managers." Called the first day and spoke to Naeem who was just very dismissive and matter of fact, would not allow me to speak to someone above him. Call the next day and get the GM and ask about an item that has been MARKED DOWN TWICE (was informed they mark things down once every SEVERAL MONTHS). So this items been sitting for months, and was last marked down 3 weeks ago. No interest in it. They had 0 interest in selling me the item despite the fact that it's a pretty niche and expensive early 2000's synthesizer. Every single manager I spoke to was dismissive and rude and didn't even want to negotiate. Now this sounds like entitlement but JUST 3 DAYS PRIOR I bought a $2800 synthesizer from a different location of theirs and they marked it down $600 just because I asked politely if there was anything they could do on the price. Imagine how fast I gave them my money for being pleasant and willing to work with me. This place will never get a cent out of me because after I left a review of my experience the owner responds "hey, call and ask for Ann." So I call like 12 hours after that response, during their operating hours. "Ann's not here." "... wanna tell me when to call back?" "She's on vacation." Dropped the ball at EVERY conceivable turn. Wouldn't give them a penny. Edit: GOT AHOLD OF ANN. Now I understand why her employees are arrogant and aloof. She was just flabbergasted by the idea of a negotiation. She hates money, this place hates money. Do not waste your time, their favorite hobby is to waste it for you. read more

The have a good selection of Fender silver-face amplifiers, Marshall cabinets and the occasional Kustom amplifier. A great selling point for this shop is you can tell them you're looking for something in particular, say Olympic white Fender Jaguar, and they will take your name and number down and when one comes in to the shop they will call you. I was in need of a new bass the other day so I came into MusicGoRound. To say I was pleased would be an understatement! They have a fantastic selection of guitars, basses, amps and everything else from band instruments to keyboards to drumsets. I wasn't in a position to spend a lot of money, but that didn't change the way their staff treated me. They were completely helpful and really found just the right instrument for my needs and price range. Goodbye Guitar Center!! I'm going to be making all of my purchases from here in the future. Since we have our little dude on the way and the fact that space in our home is at a premium, we decided we needed to part with some equipment to make way for our son. We packed up our keyboard and my bass equipment and made the long-haul out to Lilburn to Music Go Round. I had posted a lot of these items on Craig's List and I was delighted to see that Music Go Round emailed me with interest in the items. Rather than shooting over an offer or anything they mentioned they had been in business for over 17 years, they buy used equipment every day, love supplying musical instruments to the community, and love working locally. Thought it was really cool and warranted a phone call on my end. I ended up talking to Paulie, who is probably the nicest guy I have ever met. He was super helpful over the phone and was even more so once we arrived. We handed over my bass amp, Fender Jazz, my wife's Yamaha Keyboard, and a few other small items and he checked them out for cosmetic damage, did some research online, checked their functionality, tone, etc and then came back to us with an offer. For us, we were just looking to part with these items so someone could put them to better use than we have in the past few years and we were happy with the amount. Paul moved super quick and was cheerful and fun throughout the entire time we were there. Note: If you trade in your equipment, know that it is not a quick process. You'll have to let these guys take a look at your stuff and test it out, write down serial numbers, compare prices, etc. This will take time, so just prepare to be patient. They are more then hospitable in this manner. Also, note that the price will be the best they can offer as they will be turning around your stuff for sale that day or the next. This is a no-brainer, but just keep this in mind if you've never gone through this process before. If we ever need used equipment or had more to trade in, this is our go-to from now own. Local spot, 17+ years in business, super nice guys, an ever-changing selection of stuff, and an easy process. Can't wait to come back if our little guys wants to play the guitar or anything else. Have done a good bit of business here the past couple months, especially considering that Guitar Center has radically curtailed its used gear sales and buy-ins. Tons of rare and odd stuff, but you really, really need to know your gear to get the most of out this place. If you think of MGR as more of a dedicated music pawn shop than a full-service music shop you'll get in the right frame of mind. Tons of stuff crammed into the space and some not exactly in working condition, which they are up-front about. Why they buy that in, I don't know. But DIY guys and gals can make out like bandits. Prices range from good to meh -- again you just have to do your homework. Case in point, currently offered for sale is a used Gibson Marauder for $999. Somewhat rare 70s guitar looks to be in good condition. But check around and $750 is more like the peak price for a such a guitar. To me their best aspect is the willingness to buy-in working gear and put it toward something else. Not every joint is willing to do that as readily. Of course the deck is stacked in MGR's favor like everywhere -- they are going to tag the gear for sale at roughly double what they pay you, but that is just the nature of wholesale vs retail. Sometimes that'll make sense -- gear that you've been trying to move on eBay/Craigslist with no takers, or forgotten stuff that you just want to unload immediately to something you can really use. Other times it will not. The best thing I've found to do is troll their website for gear regularly and see what interests you. If you get a couple hits, then it is probably worth stopping by for a deep dive into their gear-pit. And be advised, they do get some weird collector types who suddenly hock great gear just because they get bored of it. If you can pounce on that, you'll be doing OK. read more

Pretty quick turnover means different, cool stuff is there almost every day. This place is a pretty typical music hock joint but the folks that work here are really nice. I took some gear over there to sell and Haseena was really great. She was very honest in what they would offer me as store credit vs. cash. I decided to try my luck on Craig's List instead and actually did get more than they were willing to offer. I do have to say that maybe I wouldn't think of selling high end stuff here and expecting good cash but I will totally go back to do some shopping. I had the privilege of dealing with this store during the year I lived in Lawerenceville. I was in the market for a rare(ish) delay; and each month one of the guys would give me a call to let me know about the new arrivals. After awhile, they found just what I was looking for. I've never had a music store treat me like such a...well, human being. I'm convinced that they actually give a shit about their customer base at this store. I go to Music Go Round (and have bought 90% of my instruments there) because of the prices, the diverse instruments and the staff. They actually care about the customer, let you try anything out and don't jerk you around, or engage in high pressure sales. 4.5 stars. Great staff (Jerry is the man). Very friendly and helpful. No haggling. If an item doesn't sell at what they have it marked at, they will gradually drop the price until it sells. I've sold them plenty of gear and been happy with the trade value they give. Not as good as what you could sell for on c-list but far less hassle. My favorite thing is that they will keep an eye out for items you want. I've rec'd many calls from them when paiste 2002's or giant beats come in and have bought many of them.
