The sandwich was so good, warm contents and soft wheat bread. My son ordered that's not on the menu because he picked what he wanted for his sandwich. We liked their promotional drink as well. They were all delicious! The atmosphere was educational on firehouse, including the big picture on the wall and my son inspected the helmet and jacket. He liked the place too. I hesitantly revisited firehouse subs today in Riverdale. I am used to the delicious food provided at the South Salt Lake location (4 stars for them from my 5+ visits). This one star is a zero star from two visits at Riverdale location. After my experience today, I've learned my lesson. Last time I came, my sandwich was as smushed as a sandwich on loaf bread (and I got the meatball sub). Willing to try again, I was met with being charged for a sandwich, then being let know it was not in stock. Shortage of food is a regional issue upon reading the reviews of the Layton location. I highly considered trying that location, but the phone numbers listed online don't get thru to a person. Neither does the Riverdale number listed. I requested the regional number, knowing it's not always the managers fault, being familiar with the catering industry. The manager gave me a number that didn't connect to anyone. Refused to provide an extension to the regional manager. I will not be giving the stores in this region another chance after the manager asked me to leave the store when I called him out on giving me a phony number for his regional manager. read more

Food is always good and normally so is the service. When i came in today, there was no one out front as I stood there for about 5-10 minutes I was finally helped but only because I said "Hello." The worker Mia finally came out from the back looking mad that she has to help me, she didn't say a word she just stared at me until i started ordering. She couldn't hear my whole order because she was wearing AirPods as i had to repeat myself multiple times. Updating my review again. I had a wonderful experience at Firehouse tonight. I went in for ice on my break, and spoke to a sweet blonde guy to ask when they close because I wanted to eat there for dinner. He told me 9, which is when my store closes next door. He told me if I wanted to call it in before 9, they'd leave the door open for me to pick it up. As I work in retail, I know what a pain it is to have customers who stay late, so I asked several times if that was ok, and that I didn't want to impose. He said it was perfectly fine. At about 8:15 I called and placed the order, and they kept that promise. I closed my department really fast and was out of there by 9:02. They could not have been more amazing. I am upgrading them to 5 stars just for the service, but the food was great too. And I got this salad which is absolutely GORGEOUS...the best fast food salad I've ever seen. Well done, Fir I've had more experience with Firehouse now. I like their cause, and I work next door to them, and they're super cool about letting me walk over and get ice and water in my water bottle on my breaks at work. I also always eat here when I have an actual lunch break, and most of the sandwiches I've had are great. That being said, all of the employees are so sour. When you walk in, they're required to say "Welcome to Firehouse", but they all say it like they want to die. It makes me wonder what the management is like. The employees aren't friendly at all, even if you go out of your way to engage them or make them laugh. It's just, like, the dead stare. As a customer, it's honestly very uncomfortable. Whether I'm coming for ice water or to buy a meal, I always feel like I'm ruining their day. There are a lot of people who work with me next door and who visit them for lunches, and I've heard the same from many of them. Whoever the boss is SERIOUSLY needs to work on team morale. HOWEVER, we both asked for olives on our sandwiches and there are no olives to be found. That sucks. For employer reference: it was Friday, April 14 at about 5pm. Just...why is this so hard?! ANOTHER update: I work right next door to this location, and I always go over on my shifts to get ice water and use the bathroom on my work breaks (and have lunch when I have a long enough shift). The people who work over there are just so kind, and we've started to address each other by first names...I can't give enough respect to Janette, and a newer girl named Hailey who is just the most adorable girl. But hands down, my favorite is Jared, the cutest high school kid, who runs to the door and opens it for me if he sees me coming. Such a sweet kid, and I always look forward to going over there, because they treat me like I'm one of their crew. Also, because my retail store is right next door, when we have events (like last year when we had inventory) we hire them to cater for our massive store a lot, and we always end up with way more than we can handle, and the sandwiches are ALWAYS good. I've also met the store manager, and he's awesome. I will warn everyone, the service is super slow, but it's because they're always super busy and make most of their sandwiches warm, so if you don't want to wait, download their app and order ahead...that way you can walk in, the app tells you exactly when it will be done, and they have a rack right inside the door with your order, which you can grab and eat in or out. read more

Ordered food on line . Took it home for lunch. After the 3rd bite I noticed mold on the bun. When I opened the sandwich it was dripping wet and the bun was soggy , the liquid from the slaw was pooled in the wrapper on the other end . The chips were not in the bag . I took pictures to show the health dept. if I get sick from the mold . Won't go back that's for sure . read more

We love Firehouse Subs. We ordered online, paid $28 for three subs. Got to the store to be greeted with, "Oh, we didn't make those...you really wanted them?" Then the employee claimed we didn't pay. After a discussion and proof of payment online, we were then told an incredibly long list of everything they don't have, ham, roast beef, no bacon, mushrooms, peppers, chicken, drinks (how do they not have drinks), etc. etc. and then we were told they're "shutting down" whether that means for the night or permanently wasn't clarified. If it's for the night, I'd assume that in a time when businesses are struggling to make sales, I'd be very concerned about these two individuals entrusted to run my franchise. If that's the process then it should be advertised that not all items are guaranteed if ordering 45 minutes to an hour before the posted closing time, or cutoff online ordering an hour before closing since they don't seem to matter. If the store is closing permanently, well, all the best and it should still be posted somewhere about the absence of items so customers aren't paying full price, and not receiving their sandwich as ordered, nor offered a refund. We ordered a Hook and Ladder and two Engineers with some customizations (which we didn't get because they were all out) and we received three of the exact same sandwiches which were all turkey, mayo, lettuce, onion, tomato. We are extremely frustrated with this experience and this location because we prefer Firehouse over any other sub restaurant and would rather not drive to Layton just to avoid Riverdale. Are you going out of business, having supply chain issues, need to reevaluate inventory management, or retrain employees. We are not impressed read more

Online ordering app doesn't work at Riverdale location. The staff lack training and customer service skills. Waited 20 minutes as most folks were waiting 10 to 15 minutes for their orders. There was no apology. When I asked why there wasn't a sign letting people know to check at the cashier for online orders. The staff blankly stared. An electrical fire messed up their point of sale system. I told them their process was BS, and a horrible way to treat customers. The dark bearded cashier told me to leave. I requested a refund. One person greeted me when I walked in the door, I didn't quite know what I wanted yet so I stood back and then walked up to the counter when I was ready to order, and it took at least 3 minutes before the girl even said that she'd be with me in a second. She saw I was there and the person behind her who was only standing there to grab bread knew I was there and didn't say anything. I witnessed many other customers get the same lack of service. Don't normally write bad reviews, but we used to love Firehouse Subs. Not anymore. Last three visits we were told they don't have steak, don't have roast beef, and don't have brisket. They didn't have drinks, brownies or even pickles or banana peppers to put on the sandwich either. After the long list of what they didn't have, I ordered a hero and asked if they could add extra ham and turkey since they didn't have roast beef. They agreed so I decided to call it good. Only problem is I got home and they barely put any meat on the sandwich at all. I usually eat half a sandwich and I'm full, but I ate the whole thing and was still hungry. They make really good subs at Firehouse Subs! Tried the Engineer this time, really good! Can't beat the New York Steamer though.. amazing! Putting their "Captain Sorensen's Datil Pepper Hot Sauce" on everything is my fave! Such a good combo with their sandwiches. I just wish Firehouse was a bit cheaper... they can be a bit spendy compared to others (Subway). But it's never bad to pay a bit more for quality! I love everything the company is all about... Ordered my sandwich and large water. After looking at my receipt I was shocked to see that I was charged $12 for one sandwich and a large water cup. When asked why the water cup was so expensive, the young cashier said she had to charge me for a small drink ($1.89) in order to give me a large water cup. When I asked her why she didn't tell me that, she just stared blankly and turned around. With that attitude I asked her to give me my money back, bugged with me she had to have her assistant manager approve the refund. Neither of them tried to make it right, they returned my money and when trey thought I was not looking gave each other a little laugh at my expense! Sad to say I probably won't return. We love Firehouse but this location was very disappointing. Only two employees during lunch time with many people waiting when we walked in. The people in front of us left after trying to order food and realizing they were out of most items. The restaurant is out of a handful of meats, only have two sides to offer, and only coke or Dr Pepper in their soda machine. All of their coolers were empty and had a small selection of bottled Diet Coke. Our meal came with a massive cup because that's the only cups they have but then don't have lids for them. So we had to get drinks we weren't fond of in large cups with no lids to take on the go. I actually felt bad for the employees because they looked battered and depressed that they had to tell each patron everything they are out of. It doesn't seem like they even have a manager at that location. It looks like Firehouse has failed them and they are struggling to keep it going. I was getting my tires rotated across the street and the wait was going to be over an hour. I didn't expect my entire wait to be at Firehouse Subs. When I walked in the line was almost out the door and they had one cashier, the manager. There were seven other employees behind the counter. Once I ordered a meatball sub I went and sat down to wait, 27 minutes later my sub was ready. It was decent but nothing I would come back for. I thought the delay was due to the lunchtime rush and new employees. My son got off school and walked in once I was done eating. He ordered a steak sub and he was the only person in line. It took 30 minutes for his sub and that was after I went up to ask like Phil.C. They definitely need to work on their system or they will be out of business soon. I grabbed a to-go menu when I got there expecting to return soon, I put the menu back in the holder as I walked out the door. I don't see myself going back. read more

Absolute worst fire house I've ever been to in my life. They didn't have three of the main meats, nor Mac & cheese & they didn't have different size cups, The only cup size they had was the extra large with no tops. Additionally all they had out of the whole drink machine was Coke zero and some strawberry lemonade out of the possible 30 selections. The sandwiches we got had old cheese on it and tasted mediocre. The employees look beat down with no direction I don't know who manages the store but they need to find another profession. This place is awful. The woman who served us didn't give us what we paid extra for. My wife went back up there to ask for it, and this woman scolded her. She refused to give her simply because "it wasn't on her ticket" even though it was CLEARLY on our receipt. She finally gave my wife our stuff while scoffing and rolling her eyes. I used to love Firehouse and was super excited to see they had a gluten-free sandwich roll. Ordered online today and when I showed up I was notified they didn't have anymore gluten free bread. Had I known that on the website I would've gone somewhere else that has gluten free (Jersey Mike's or Subway). Since I already paid online, the only option I could go with was a salad version of the sandwich. 15 minutes later, my to go order was ready.
