One of my top comfort food destinations. Brisket is slow cooked to perfection, and you can choose fatty or lean serving. I love the pulled pork. Green beans are savory with just the right amount of bacon and spice. My hands-down favorite is the collard greens, just like Mama Jackson used to make. (They're an acquired taste, and I know they're not for everybody.) The staff here is lightning fast. Whenever we've come in, they're slammed, they move everyone through pretty efficiently and perfectly accurate orders every time! It can be a little loud, but it's a great place to meet up, catch up and connect. Family friendly. And supportive of the military, of course. Parking is decent. Disabled friendly in every way - dining room, bathroom, and parking. If you have sensory issues, I would recommend bringing your earplugs with the lighting is reasonable. read more

Had a great lunch at Mission BBQ this afternoon. I had no idea they stop every day at noon for the National Anthem . It was impressive to see everyone pause and take a moment to honor our country. The atmosphere was patriotic, welcoming, and had a real sense of community. The food was outstanding. I had the jalapeño cheddar sausage, brisket, and banana pudding--and every bit of it was delicious. As a bonus, they even had Big Red in a glass bottle, which brought back some great memories. Believe the hype, it was delicious. I had the pulled pork sandwich NY style which is with coleslaw on it. For my sides I went with Mac and cheese and baked beans. The sandwich was ridiculously huge so I took half the pork off and brought it home. It was tasty and they have a bunch of sauces to choose from. The Mac and cheese was amazing and so cheesy and smooth but not watered down with milk or cream. The baked beans were equally mind blowing with pieces of brisket mixed in. My husband had the lean brisket and I assume it was good because it was gone before I could try it. The brisket came with a piece of cornbread which I'm pretty sure is Jiffy mix and I'm not mad because I grew up on jiffy cornbread, tasted like childhood. You order at the counter and they call for you when your order is ready which is pretty typical for BBQ. The staff were all super friendly and having a good time. What an awesome BBQ place, if you like BBQ you'll love it. Let me start off with saying BBQ is life. I have several smokers in my backyard and have catered different parties both for work and for neighbors. I'm fairly picky when it comes to BBQ especially with the prices you pay for it these days. If you're going to charge me $30 for a plate of bbq, it better knock my socks off. I went to a Mission BBQ in Nashville when I was there for training. It was so good, I was shocked when I learned it was a chain restaurant. When I think of chain bbq places I think of Dickies which my phone just auto corrected to Sickies and I almost left it . This place and Dickies are worlds apart. mission has real, good., quality BBQ. Good Texas brisket, the sausage was great. Turkey was a bit dry but I wasn't mad at it, it was still good. I also don't like green beans and as you can see from the pic I get the green beans. That's saying something if you knew me. The service was extremely friendly. Honestly it reminded me of Texas bbq spots. Where it's about the food, but it's just as much about the people. Just good people getting together, enjoying yummy food and each others company. I don't know if this is an every day thing but I had recommended my parents go here when they were in the area. They said a server brought out a free dessert to them that my dad still raves about. When I was there a server tried to give us a huge plate of fries but we had all just finished eating and had to politely decline the offer as we were all stuffed. He walked around and found another table to gift it to. So I don't know if this always happens but the two times I know of they were just giving stuff out, pretty cool. We spoke with a couple of employees and a manager, everyone was super friendly, can't say enough good. Inside is pretty typical BBQ joint. They had a six pack of bbq sauces on the table. As much as I like just eating the meat so you can taste the meat and smoke, I also love me a good bbq sauce. They had a couple that were pretty yummy. You absolutely have to get the cheesy potatoes. I crave them more often than I'd like to admit. It's. A good thing I don't live closer to this spot cause it would be a problem. I'd stop in just for a side of the potatoes. I'll definitely make the hour drive to come back. It's worth it. I've been to most of the BBQ spots in Utah, this one is definitely up there for me among the top. I'm a little slow on this review. I was feeling lazy and we had people joining us for the 4th of July so I ordered take out for 12 from Mission BBQ. We've eaten here often and believe it's the best national chain bbq available. It stacks up against a lot of local and regional bbq places too! I ordered $260 worth of bbq and supplemented with a few homemade items. We got sliced brisket, chopped brisket, pulled pork, smoked salmon, and baked beans with brisket. I picked everything up the afternoon before and immediately took it home and stuck it in the fridge. I was a little concerned about the salmon, but we heated everything up the next day and it was all delicious! I can't say it was exactly the same as ordering and eating in at the restaurant, but no complaints here. Craig and the crew at Mission BBQ are fantastic!! read more

This place is definitely a hit! Our food disappeared so quickly that we didn't even get a chance to take pictures. Everything is seasoned with their house spice blend and smoked over oak wood, which gives it such a rich flavor. The manager was incredibly kind and took the time to walk us through the menu, answer all of our questions, and even give us some great recommendations. We tried the pulled pork, brisket, and smoked turkey breast very tender, flavorful, and moist. The meats are offered in portions around 6-8 oz, but we went with the 4 oz sample sizes so we could try more variety. They also have a selection of BBQ sauces available, though honestly, the meat is delicious enough to stand on its own. It's exciting to see such a great variety coming to Riverdale/Ogden. Nice addition to Riverdale and what has been a BBQ desert! Brand new and first visit so I had to try the brisket, it was exceptional. Dry rubbed and perfectly smoked. You can choose point (fatty) or flat (lean) or you can get the chopped. For sides I tried the Mac and Cheese (good) and the collared greens (great.). It comes with a chunk of cornbread (very good). They've got the bbq staples plus smoked turkey or pulled chicken. Those are for next visit. There's even smoke salmon on the menu. Lots of sides and superb drink menu. They have 7 signature sauces and all were decent. Pricing is a value for good bbq. Good bbq is not cheap so expect the $10-$13 range for a sandwich and $10-$14 for your meat options. Servings are about 1/2 pound so very reasonable. You can do a combo which is a meat +1 side or the XXL combo which is a meat +2 sides. Both include a drink and cornbread. The XXL will run you between $17-$26 depending on which meat you choose. You order at a counter and pick up your own tray. There is NO TIP SHAMING on their system. Excited for these folks to prosper here. Judging on the first visit, they surely will. read more

This place is great! It gets very crowded so keep that in mind. I have been twice and have had a pulled pork sandwich and a brisket sandwich. Both were delicious. They give huge portions. The fries I had on the side were great too. They have six bottles of different barbecue sauces at the table to try, my favorite is the smoky mountain. The restaurant is super clean and smells amazing. The lighting and music makes you feel like home. But the food omg stellar. I had the brisket sandwich and used free Memphis sauce and it was so moist, and flavorful along with the Mac and cheese with the bread crumb topping so worth it. Paired with the sweet tea. Will definitely be back. To service I receive was so helpful and knowledgeable on the food helped me make a delicious decision. If you haven't tried it's a must. We tried to go here on a Friday evening and it was really crowded. Thad's a good sign. Came back on a Thursday evening, still busy but not as busy. Did learn that the line moves rather quickly and even though there was a line we really didn't have to wait long at all. Had ribs and fries. Ribs were fall off the bone tender with really good flavor. They have six different sauces to try, all pretty good, I liked the , regular KC, the hot honey wasn't hot enough. Ok all the stuff that matters, they did so phenomenally well. We tried every meat they offer except for the spicy sausage and it was all really really delicious. It's much shorter to share my "room for improvement thoughts" than to gush about all the deliciousness. So honestly the only things that I felt were subpar were: -The green beans. They were just, whatever. Canned green beans with some minced onions. Nothing to crave later on. -The cornbread. It was still probably the best cornbread I've had at a bbq place here in Utah. It didnt just crumble and fall apart (which I hate).... I just wish it was served warm so that the butter I spread on it would melt. Other than that, it was all just really great. My favorite sides were the Mac and cheese and French fries. I'm very much looking forward to come back here again. They also had a great selection of bbq sauce flavors. The dining room staff was very very friendly and happy to clear plates from our table. They were friendly and happy. For how crowded it was (the line out the door) everyone was fine and able to find a spot to sit and eat. It was busy but not crazy in the dining room, which is not always easy. I also really loved the decor. The tables and booths were very nice and comfortable. Mission BBQ is an East Coast chain but this is its first entree into Utah. Not a huge fan of the military-police theming (institution-wise), but at least they also celebrate individual veterans/ soldiers /cops/ first responders which seems well-intentioned and in good patriotic spirits. For me it's just nice to see the old Honeybaked Ham store get some new life and a cozy BBQ "road house" is good enough by me. Mission BBQ did a well-organized pre-grand opening kick off, where my wife won "free BBQ for a year" deck of cards. (Each card redeems for something diff on the menu, one per week.) Otherwise we also visited in a week's time again for their veterans grand opening party (where one of our friend's kids was invited to be national anthem backup singer) and then again for a regular night's dinner. So far the service had been prompt and friendly, and most important: the meat has been juicy, though the smoked burger, while big & yummy for $10, has been weakest among the pulled pork, flat brisket, half chicken (super juicy) and sausages (snappy casings!) we've tried. BBQ sauces fix most sins! We're looking forward to trying everything including full ribs, fatty brisket, rotating seasonal specials and "Black Plate" deals among others. For sides there are lots-- and while at $3.30-ish each they'll take your meal easily to the $18-22/person range, they are worth getting two or three. (5-oz size still shares okay but you can also get em in $10 pints.) Their fresh fries are way better than In-N-Out's fresh fries -- and you have a choice of 8+ yummy sauces. (We like the Texas Twang, Alabama White, Carolina mustard, and vinegar sauces best.) And while the texture of the green beans and collard greens were a touch too soft, flavor was still tasty. Smoked brisket Baked Beans and slaw also are reasonably good. We wish they had mashed taters with white gravy as an option, tho. With all their community effort, friendly service, and generally good BBQ quality we're 4.5-starring Mission BBQ after our first few visits! read more

An amazing à la carte restaurant! The service was terrific, I do want to mention Emery! She was a wonderful server who took time to explain the menu, sides, and assured us that the food was cooked fresh. The food was wonderful! I had received the pulled pork with a cornbread. I also got a side of mac and cheese and yum! The pulled pork was tender with a delicious crisp on the edges. The sauce options they have are delicious! I cycled between two of their darker red sauces. One of them was pretty smokey and the other was more tangy. Last but not least the ambiance was terrific. There would be an employee who would come check on you occasionally to see if you needed anything, and they kept the place clean and organized. Will come again! read more

I ordered two combos plates on 8/1 and I and my friend were very disappointed. The brisket was all fat no flavor, but smoke and the ribs also no flavor just smoked, no rub, no BBQ sauce. Just naked smoked meat with no BBQ sauce or any seasoning. The collard greens tasted from a can and very little customer service. Fries weren't fresh or hot very old. Was my first time coming in. I would definitely won't be back! For 63 dollars I would at least been better than that! Sincerely Very Disappointed P.S They need to learn what real bbq is! The pricing is very confusing. Ordered the moist brisket sandwich and it was dry and over cooked. Fries were also over cooked. Coleslaw was great.

Tried this for the first time the other night with a friend. I ordered the lean brisket and two sides (baked beans and Cole slaw). The brisket was tender, the beans tasted like they came out of a can, and the Cole slaw desperately needed some salt to bring out the flavors. The cornbread that came with it was sweet (I come from a savory cornbread family) but tasty enough. There were 7 sauces on the table and only one of them was edible. Most of them were vinegar based or very vinegar forward, even though the regional titles are places where the sauces contain no vinegar. Like the St. Louis Sauce (I am from STL) where we do NOT put vinegar in our BBQ sauce. Same for the KC Sauce which was heavily vinegar forward when they do not put vinegar in their sauces either and are on the sweet side traditionally. We finally settled on the Smoky Mountain which was the least offensive of all of them. (And you could tell most people pick that one too because all the other bottles were full and that one was almost empty.) The service was...over-eager. After we had gotten our food and were eating we kept being pestered to try samples of different proteins. That is something you do when customers are at the counter deciding what to order, not when they are already eating. The entire restaurant is military themed, strongly supports the service, and is raising money to fund a memorial for veterans of the War on Terrorism. I have no issues with any of that personally but I know others do, so fair warning if you are not a supporter of the military or such things, you probably don't want to spend your money here. My biggest issue (aside from the atrocious sauces) was the a la carte pricing for everything. $24 for brisket, two sides, and a regular beverage. I don't know what this current BBQ trend is with the a la carte pricing but I am NOT a fan. Steve's Black Sabbath does the same thing. That was also a one and done for me. The best deal for me in Ogden for good Texas BBQ is still The Lost Texan in Pleasant View. They have combo platters that don't break the bank and plenty of delicious hot and cold sides to choose from. And sauces that taste like they should. read more

My coworkers insisted I accompany them to lunch; it was their best idea the whole week! The establishment, I'm told, is new to the area, and so far, it's a grand slam. Initially from the back east, it imported BBQ flavors from the South and the Midwest. It was the juiciest BBQ I've had in a very long time. The service was terrific! The team was genuine and kind. They really make sure you're taken care of. I had the brisket sandwich with fries and baked beans. So good! I can't wait to go back. The whole resteraunt pays homage to all those who have been in uniform. Service members, men and women, are celebrated here. On 3 December my spouse and I went here to eat dinner. This was our first time here. We're both ordered the shredded brisket sandwich, his with beans, mine with Mac n cheese, we also got two refillable cups. The total was $45 and change. We got our drinks and sat down, looked around and enjoyed the atmosphere. We waited maybe 5 minutes for our order, not bad at all. I took the first bite of this sandwich, and it was so tough, I could hardly chew it. WOW I was so disappointed. Then I took a bite of my Mac n cheese, and it was pretty much cold. Let's just say, both sandwiches were maybe a 1/10 and the sides 2/10. So disappointing that they would serve meat this tough. It was only 6pm when we went, and they weren't slow, so I figured the food would've been fresh. Spending $46 on dinner that was this bad, I should've went with a frozen pizza instead. At least it would have been fresh and hot! I would NOT recommend this place for dining. Spend a few more dollars and go to Texas Roadhouse. read more

Eventually, I would predict they'll bring their prices down, but they'll also bring their portion sizes down. Standard shrinkflationary tactic. Also, I'm nearly 60 years old. Wow what a cool concept, I loved the whole feel of the place. Firstly I want to thank all of our veterans past and present as well as our first responders, thank you for your service. Now, let's talk about this amazing place. So many choices, we opted for the two meat dish, pulled pork and brisket, and it did not disappoint. Both the pulled pork and brisket were very tender and the smoky flavor was delicious, not to mention the amazing barbecue sauces available at each table. Of course I had to try all of them, each sauce better than the other. The place has a cozy patriotic feel which I absolutely loved and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The portions are big and the prices are great for what you get. I paid the same price for a crappy burger at the near by jack in the box but that's another review. Generally I'm not a fan of baked beans but theirs was very tasty. I also loved the corn bread which was included in our meal. My wife and I have had dinner at Mission BBQ a couple of times. Both visits were excellent. The staff is friendly and helpful. The BBQ is amazing and served in large portions. Both their brisket and pulled pork are on point and their sides are great as well. It's been busy each time we have stopped in, but they clear the tables quickly and we always find a spot to sit. We loved our trip to Mission BBQ and will definitely be back! We tried the brisket, pulled pork, and turkey- all amazing and it was fun sampling all of the regional BBQ sauces (made in house!) They are also a "good ranch" restaurant and it was delicious with the fries. It was an honor to join in the national anthem at noon and see all the military and first responder memorabilia. My wife and I had pulled pork, jalapeno/cheddar sausage and brisket (lean & moist). Corn bread was dry; again seemed like it was just leftovers from a day or too; or overcooked. Mac & Cheese was overcooked and dry/crusty. Cheesy potatoes were great. Best side dish we had. Overall, wasn't too impressed by the food.
