During my trip to Utah, this was my first time eating at a Cafe Zupas, and I was really impressed by the variety they offer. It's a mix of salads, protein bowls, sandwiches, and an impressive selection of soups. Every order comes with a soft, delicious roll that they are happy to give you plenty of, as well as a chocolate-dipped strawberry, which was a fun little surprise. One of the things I loved most about this place was the flexibility in how you can build your meal. If you're in the mood for a big, hearty sandwich with a rich soup and some cheesecake on the side, you can do that. If you want something lighter, like a protein bowl packed with greens, vegetables, and lean meat, that's an option too. It is nice to have that kind of versatility. I tried the Mediterranean protein bowl a few times, which was absolutely delicious, and their mushroom soup was fantastic. It was hot, flavorful, and paired perfectly with their soft rolls. The staff was friendly, but the operations felt disorganized. On my first visit, my order was placed on the counter near the prep area, which I assumed meant it was ready for me to grab. When I picked it up and brought it to the register, the cashier seemed confused and told me they were supposed to grab it. There was no signage or communication around this process, and it had been sitting there for long enough where I felt like I was supposed to grab it. Whoops! On another visit with family, we placed a decent-sized order and they ended up missing a few items. The cashier seemed confused about what we had ordered, despite the fact that we had just told their team members at the prep station and there was a handover. There seemed to be a communication gap between the prep staff and the checkout, which made every visit feel clumsy and inefficient. The interior is bright, modern, and very clean. There is plenty of seating, and they have a long queue setup at the entrance, which I assume helps keep things moving when they are busy. However, during all four of my visits, there were never more than two or three people in line, yet things still felt disorganized. It left me scratching my head, wondering why such a simple process seemed to get tripped up so often. That being said, the food was absolutely delicious. The variety, freshness, and ability to customize a meal based on what you are in the mood for make this place stand out. Whether you want to go all out or keep things light and healthy, you will find something great here. I will definitely be back the next time I am in Utah. read more

I'm so excited to have zupas in Syracuse! I was worried they would be a little crazy with their new opening, but it wasn't! I was super impressed at how quickly they made everything and the staff were so friendly! I ordered through the drive-thru and I was the 4th car in line. I was in and out of there in 10 minutes. I noticed the manager was out there teaching the staff how to navigate the drive-thru and they did a really good job. Be patient with them since they just recently opened. The drive-thru in this location is a game changer for sure! So convenient and there are 2 lanes. Since I go to the one in Layton regularly, I knew what to order and it tasted just as good! We go to this location often since it opened near our house. The food is good but the price is a little steep. I don't necessarily mind it because I feel the food is good but I don't think it makes sense to feed a whole family here. It's good for just me and my husband though. I wish they added more meat on the salads. It's a very small amount and for the price, it should be a larger portion. The toppings are also pretty lacking in QTY as well except for the lettuce. They give A TON of lettuce and then a few pcs of each topping including the meat. Additionally, any toppings over 5, costs like 60 cents a pc. Once you see how little of each topping goes on, you will def want more than 5 toppings to make it a substantial salad. They do mix your dressing into the lettuce which is a plus and the toppings do taste good. I also enjoy the soup options like the chris (tomato basil and cauli soup mixed) and the chicken enchilada. I do think the large soups are worth the price compared to the salads. They also give you a chocolate covered strawberry and a roll with each full size meal so that is nice too. The food tastes great and I haven't had anything that taste bad there which is why i am giving it a 4 stars, but the pricing does make me want to score it lower. read more

I'm from out of town and this was my first time at Zupas. I can hear with my sister and her family. They love the place and I now having eaten here I understand why. The food is fresh and the variety makes it so that anybody can find something to eat off the menu. I enjoyed my Tomato Basil soup and chicken pesto sandwich. The salads were very good adding to the freshness of the food. My only complaint was the process. As other reviewers have expressed, the point from ordering to receiving the food is clumsy, slow, and inefficient. I'm basing this on a family of 7, so this could be the bottleneck. The portion sizes on the sandwiches, soups, and salads are reasonable although if you have a big appetite you might need to stand in line for a second order. It's a shame they don't cater to the gluten free community something that should be easy to do based on the menu items. Otherwise, it's a good restaurant that I'll likely visit when I'm in a pinch but either alone or with one other person so the order process isn't an issue. read more

We were visiting some friends and they raved about this place so we had to try it for ourselves. It's a walk up and order type of place. All of the food is in front of you so you can see all the ingredients. They have a pretty large menu that offers alot of sandwiches, salads, soups and desserts. The people behind the counter were pretty nice. They were very busy. It does get a bit confusing, who does what and what part of your order you're supposed to tell who but we managed. I got the combo meal with a sandwich and soup and it came with a huge chocolate covered strawberry! Yum! Nice touch! The sandwich was very fresh and tasty. I had the mushroom bisque and it was fantastic! It also came with a big roll. The chocolate mouse cake was delicious too! I wish we had one of these in San Diego where we live. We were there on a Tuesday evening. They staff was not prepared for the crowd. The store kept selling drinks, although their fountain machine would not work. The manager refused to help because he said they were too busy. The cashier refused to provide refunds because she was too busy. Yet, they kept charging people for drinks they couldn't fulfill. I had to go inside and all I saw was, assuming the manager, a man in a dark beard as he was berating his employees. He was not kind to me all at when I asked him about my food. Alex, the manager, was so accommodating, made me a different item and even gave us a free dessert. He turned what could have been a bad experience into a very pleasant one. We eat at this Zupas frequently and this is the first time we've had an issue, so wouldn't let it keep us from going back, but Alex sealed the deal (and not because of the free dessert). I had a little over an hour for my break. I got to zupas at 6pm and there was a long line. I waited for 10 min and didn't move much so I thought I would place an online order because I had to be back by 7. It said pick up at 6:25. At 6:35 it still wasn't showing it was being started. I saw the pick up line had grown significantly. The line itself was moving and the drive through seemed to be slow but moving. Not one pick up online order was being completed. After waiting in line AGAIN, and it being 6:50 and I was still not too much closer to getting to order, I went to the cashier and asked them to cancel my order. Someone else asked why they were not even doing any to go orders and they said it was policy to prioritize the line and then drive through. And while I understand that, there should be an option for the understaffed location to turn off online orders! They are getting buried and it's just piling on. They didn't even have time to cancel my order officially. I had to write my number down on a receipt blank so they could refund it later? Really disappointed in that. Either turn off online orders, shut down the drive thru, or put notifications out that the wait is long. Not sure if I'll trust putting in a mobile order at this location again. :/ read more

I created my own salad because all of the meatless salads they offer are loaded with fruit (I do not like fruit and nuts in my salad). I selected the Fresh Herb Vinaigrette Salad Dressing and it is very good! If they sold it in the bottle, I would buy it without hesitation. It gave my plain, vegetable salad a really good taste. I ordered two desserts (don't judge me). One dessert was the cheesecake, with no fruit and it was very tasty. I would order that again. The other dessert was the chocolate mousse cake. Most of the salads don't include a meat and the large salad is over $10 and it's pretty much the same size as Wendy's apple pecan salad with a whole chicken breast for under $8.
