My favorite movie house in the area! Small "art house" (most of the time) theater in the area, and one that shows current movies that aren't blockbusters. I have seen "I'm Still Here" "Black Bag" "Becoming Led Zeppelin" "September 5," and others here and constantly on the computer to see what's there. With two screens, real butter on the popcorn, and the sale of beer and wine, it's the best theatre I have found! read more

This place is a gem. All the bells and whistles of a big name theatre but more unique and quant, plus wine and beer! The smaller screening room is intimate and comfortable like we were in a decked out home theatre with space for everyone. It was perfect for my 5 year old's birthday and the 35 kids and parents that came to watch Puss in Boots 2. The kids with their popcorn, candy, and drinks trays, just made themselves at home. The owner and staff were so incredibly accommodating, making it easy to sit back, relax, and enjoy the movie. Awesome experience and a birthday to remember forever. The firehouse theater is the movie place in Kingston and certainly has a very small hometown feel to it, nothing like the big movie complexes like Regal, and the others. It's actually an old fire station turned into a theater. It used to have a restaurant right next door. But that's been empty for a few years now since the restaurant has moved to Silverdale. The theater owner has always tried to make sure that this theater has something unique and has continued to provide an opening dialogue about the theater, current movie, and upcoming movies. I think he's generally spot-on in his assessment of each movie that I've ever seen at the theater that he has given a preview recommendation about. It's important that the movie goers support the theater by purchasing from the concession stand. His concessions are pretty pricey, but it is how he keeps a theater in business in this small community. His tickets are a bit pricey. But if you go during the matinee you'll get a pretty good deal. Today I saw Wonder Woman. It definitely is a Blockbuster movie, with all the cast members, special effects, and things of that nature. I really appreciate the fact that the female cast was strong and it was directed by a woman as well. There were obviously lots of special effects, but my favorite really was the cinematography. There were just some really visually beautiful scenes. There are always two movies playing at this theater in the separate rooms, but occasionally he'll mix it up and he'll play three or more on a given day. I like the fact that he usually will have a big movie that has received lots of commercial attention, while at the same time have a movie that is a little bit more obscure showing as well. read more

This theater is an absolute gem in so many ways. It has great movies with a much more intimate feel than you will get anywhere else....and I mean anywhere! The owner will come and tell you what the low down is on coming attractions, and they have just a few previews (I hate those anyway). And real butter on the popcorn! Wicked cool! Best popcorn within miles and miles! This theater also shares the building with Cafe Neo, which is a really big bonus....great food, great atmosphere, and a well stocked bar! We hit both places tonight, and it was magical. The weather outside was close to a 10 on the "it sucks" scale of 1-10, but a great evening was had anyway! Planned an evenIng out to a movie with friends, website said they were open. Came to support a local theater. We were turned away by rudeness. We will not be back. I will drive to Regal Cinema in poulsbo and never go back to the Kingston Theater again. Small theaters are an endangered species , the foul mouthed man behind the counter just lost my business and about 10 other local Kingston residents. Rude rude rude. Never again. The theater is genuinely lovely. The main stage has maybe 100-ish seats and they have a smaller second screen as well. You can rent the entire theater for much cheaper than you would think. Prices for general admission are inexpensive compared to other theaters around. They have delicious popcorn made with real butter. The people who work there are so kind and helpful. First movie after a year of staying indoors, and what better place than the Firehouse Theater? We ordered tickets a week prior and arrived to what felt like a quaint, miniature version of an AMC or Regal theater. The concessions stand was ample though, offering even almond M&Ms, etc were delicious. The popcorn was outstanding, and the butter was just right. The couple screen rooms they have are snug but the screens themselves are sharp and lacked nothing compared to larger rivals. I recommend the Firehouse Theater for anything that isn't a must-see in IMAX, I love it there. read more

It was my first time at this theatre and while I appreciated the indie aspect of the theatre there were issues. The screen is small and perhaps not standard dimensions so some portion of the picture was cut off which was slightly annoying. It became really bad because there were many subtitles in the movie (Russian characters speaking native tongue in the english movie) and everything below the first line of the subtitles was cut off. In addition, my husband who was sitting in the front row for more leg room found the texture (?) of the screen distracting (sort of causing pixelation). PS: the theatre was REALLY cold! I will not come back unless this is the only theatre showing the movie we want to see, and if so... I'll definitely bring a blanket! read more

I made a great discovery today. I wanted to see "Moon", a new film in limited release. Generally with these sort of films my only options are to venture down into the parking hell that is downtown Seattle. But when searching for showtimes, I saw it was playing in Kingston, just across the water from my hometown of Edmonds. I didn't even know Kingston had a movie theater. Well, it turns out, they do. It just opened a couple months ago. It is definitely on the cozy side, but features comfortable stadium seating. As an added surprise, the owner (seriously!) walked in a few minutes before the movie started and spoke to us about it, told us of other upcoming shows they were having, and chatted with the crowd a bit (there were maybe two dozen of us present, mostly film buffs from the look of us.) This is a great place and I will most certainly be back. Restrooms are shared with the restaurant next door, which looks to be worth checking out as well! read more

Yes, Kingston has a theater and they serve real butter on their popcorn! You won't be able to see movies the week they are released, but you will be able to see them a couple weeks later. The owner Craig, is a real fan of Cinema and he has poured his heart and soul into making the experience pleasant for his audience. The Firehouse Theater is a place with character and charm! Once a fire station as the name suggests, the hall was renovated into a movie theater. The atmosphere is small-town and personal with the owner giving a real-life introduction to the movie you're about to see along with some interesting tid bits about the film and/or actors. I have seen two movies here and have enjoyed both experiences. Good popcorn and the selection of movies playing seems to be well thought out. This is a plus considering there are only two screens. I'm happy Kingston has its own movie theater now! On a side note, it also looks like the theater puts on some special events tailored for holidays and special occasions. read more

We are so lucky to have this place in Kingston. So agree with the post below, that it epitomizes the best in small town movie theaters. The seats are comfy, the popcorn delish, the staff friendly. This is the epitome of a small town movie theater. I was visiting Kingston on Memorial Day weekend. My partner was tasked with taking his sisters and mother shopping. Not wanting to do the whole shopping thing, I opted to accompany his brother to see a movie. I was surprised not only at the cleanliness of the theater but with the friendliness of the staff as well. It was only $25 for two tickets, two pops, a candy and a popcorn. THAT is a bargain these days with most theaters charging $10 to $12 bucks a head just to walk in. My family loves The Firehouse Theater in Kingston. Craig, the owner, will come out a few minutes before the movie starts to talk with us about the movie we came to see, the actors and director. The popcorn has REAL butter! Craig has special showings at the theater too! When part 2 of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows came out, he ran part 1 ahead of time for a discounted ticket. Not only that, but many of us got dressed up as our favorite Harry Potter characters. It was so much fun. He opens the theater up for plays as well. He also does a lot within the community including fieldtrips. Its in a great location, close to the ferry if you live in Edmonds (just a short ride over, and a quick walk up the block). Close to our schools (for walking-fieldtrips). When my sister came out for the holidays a few years ago, she wanted to take my kids to see The Cave of Forgotten Dreams. She figured we would have to go into Seattle to see it. Nope! The Firehouse Theater was playing it and we were so happy to have it right here in Kingston. Its always clean and everyone is very friendly. We always check to see if The Firehouse will get a movie we want to see before we go anywhere else. read more

We came to Firehouse Theater to see Star Wars. We didn't want to go to any chain theaters and the theaters where you can drink were all sold out (boo)! Have to say, we were very happy with our experience at Firehouse Theater. Surprisingly, it was low-key for the second day of Star Wars being out. Theater was not crowded, clean, and quaint. There was actually an introduction given by one of the staff members before the movie came on, which I thought was very neat! Theater is inexpensive compared to others and the seats were comfy! The Firehouse Theater in Kingston is a great community movie theater. It may not be a multiplex, but there are two movie screens and the owner has the latest digital technology, so every movie looks great. I've seen lots of movies there and have never noticed the sides being cut off. The owner loves movies and makes an effort to get the best movies in, even if only for a short run. After the previews and before the movie, the owner comes in to chat about the movie and talk about the movies he wants to bring in next. And he really does put real butter on the popcorn! read more

This is a great place! I live in Kingston, and I am very glad there is a theatre near by. It is small, but Kingston is a small town and I'm sure if we all give it enough business it can grow. I went and saw Transformers. The owner was very friendly and I had a blast watching the movie. I really hope this place takes off because I think it is awesome! They have snacks and pop corn, and they also have a restaurant accross the hall. I would have given five stars, but the restaurant closes really early. I love the charm of this theater and how the owner presents each movie before it shows. They also have a room to take your crying child in that has windows so you can still watch the movie but not disturb the rest of the audience. Way cool! Have heard many good comments about this place. Sorry to say our first time was a disaster. The theater was dirty. Popcorn, garbage in every isle, sticky "goobers" on front edge of some seats we first looked at.. 25 minutes into the movie the video quit audio continued and emergency lights came on. After several minutes one of the six people watching the movie left to tell the manager, who appeared and checked a few things then told us there had been a large explosion outside. He continued checking and rebooting the film which was supposed to start were it quit,but to no avail, all we ever got was audio of the start of the movie. after about 15 minutes of this we left. There was no sign of an explosion outside and all other businesses had power. probably the projectors bulbs blew and tripped his breakers, but I guess they had no backup bulbs. Any we will not return. read more

The ONLY reason I go to this theater is that it's 30 seconds from my house. The manager (in his pre-movie talks) has ruined movie endings more than once, In fact, I won't even go in the theater until he's done talking. Movie times on the internet are often the wrong times and the guy on the phone says that they have no control over that which is a real cop-out. The floors are dirty and covered with popcorn. The staff isn't friendly. NOT a Kingston treasure. read more

The Firehouse Theater is truly a small down theater and I like it for that reason. You don't get too many people and so the theater is rarely crowded like some of the chain theaters. That being said, there are only two rooms so only two shows at a time and they only show them for three weeks each so if you are like me and like to wait until its almost out of theaters, be careful with this one because it will go fast. I really enjoy their main theater because the rows are really steep. I am a really short person and the tallest person always seems to sit right in front of me which is usually a problem but not here! The prices are reasonable both concessions and tickets. I went and saw a late showing and the theater manager came in after the previews to talk about the movie, interact with the audience and talk about upcoming movies. While I am sure most people would find this charming, I found it really annoying. I didn't come to the movies to listen to you drone on about the movie and the book comparison and what else is coming... I came to watch a movie! Aside from my minor annoyances with this interaction and the fact that they don't seem to patrol their theaters for annoying patrons, I had a lovely time at the Firehouse Theater and will not hesitate to go back. read more

While we've liked going to this theater for many reasons, we will no longer go there. The owner would not let us take in the snacks we brought for our children who have extreme food allergies. In the past he had let us and seemed to understand our situation, but after the confrontation we had with him we will no longer go there. He suggested that I buy them water (what?? when everyone has soda they can't have the juice I brought them?) and they can not eat the popcorn etc... that he serves. So my one little bag of treats for them was not allowed. I again explained their severe allergies and he said eventually he would have trail mix we could buy, I said... NUT allergies?! I so understand that they make money off of the snacks and drinks they sell, and we ALWAYS buy soda and popcorn for the other members of our family. But to refuse a 3 and 6 year old child to eat their own safe snacks at his theater was just cruel. Sad but we will not go back there. read more
