Unfortunately, most of the rolling stock sits outside exposed to the harsh Ohio elements, but not all are showing the effects of time. The museum has numerous collections which were donated and are exhibited in a number of the railcars. The number of rail related artifacts must be seen to be believed; I am not exaggerating when I state that you will most likely come across an item which you have never see before. On display is the bell from the locomotive which pulled President Lincoln's funeral train. The museum has a wonderfully located rail park right in the middle of all the action and plans are underway to further develop the site. Also the gift shop has great value souvenirs such as t-shirts (loved the variety of train designs on the shirts) and caps.

To get to the historic house, I had to drive past the quaint Milan town square, which in itself seems to be a genuine piece of Americana. The house and adjacent museum visitor center are located near the top of a hill. They overlook what is now a defunct historic canal. Inside the visitors center, there is an impressive collection of Edison's audio inventions - many that still work! Inside the house are several artifacts owned by the Edisons, as well as other period-correct pieces. A few of Thomas Edison's personal items are even on display upstairs. Deb enthusiastically painted a vivid picture of how life was in the Edison house. She explained how many of the artifacts were used. The "school teacher" in her certainly came out, as she encouraged questions. The house is conveniently located only a few miles from the Ohio turnpike. I highly recommend experiencing this interesting and informative, historic gem.

It ended up being one of our favorite experiences in Sandusky! It's small but mighty with tons of intricately carved merry-go-round animals, some of which were crafted in the early 1900s. I learned quite a bit and the displays were so fun to look at. Your admission ticket includes 1 ride on the carousel which is in the center of the small museum (you can pay for additional rides). They made an announcement that they were starting it up so we took our spots - Nate got on a seahorse and I sat in a chariot. When I tell you that thing goes fast, I mean it. I think the operator said it gets up to 7 mph! I actually started to get a bit dizzy, but it was so fun and brought me so much joy. I couldn't stop smiling the entire time. They have an on site woodworker/carver which was so cool. The building that houses the museum is an old post office and it's definitely seen better days (it's 100+ years old), so I hope they can continue to house this museum there!

Kid K went twice. It seems fast inside, but all the kids loved it. The organ was playing Halloween-appropriate songs at the end of September. Ever heard the Ghostbusters theme on a calliope? There's also the Cedar Point museum, with some of the collection that used to be in a building at the amusement park. Mostly souvenir items, but some bits from there and some photos. A little roller coaster simulator video game. Tiny gift shop. Great staff. Definitely would come back.

The merchandise in the store was priced high, in my opinion, with zip up hoodies tagged at $70 each. The staff during both of our visits were friendly and helpful. The overnight ghost hunt included complimentary beverages, a 30-45 min pre-tour, and support from the staff throughout the night. The building is maintained pretty well and the areas that aren't safe are clearly marked off limits. I'd love to come back and take a different tour.

The first building focused on different eras of history of the area, including some fossils and ship/canal history, and a room dedicated to Edison's inventions. The second was a glass museum, the upstairs of which held a non-glass collection, including metal banks, and some wall art. The third was a collection of art/decorative pieces and furniture from a wealthy local. We were then able to check out the blacksmith shop/small collection of farm machinery. The doll exhibit was not open on the day we visited, but there was enough to see without it. The gift shop was extensive. Overall, a great educational place to cool off on a hot day!

And speaking of buildings, there were probably at least seven different buildings as part of this complex, and for a mere donation of $7, you can tour them during business hours. I hope to come back and spend more time here, as there is so much to see, and it is within walking distance of the Edison Birthplace, so I highly recommend both places, as well as the Milan Town Square. The tour itself was 2 hours, the tour guides on my date August 31, 2025: last tour of the day 2pm, were informative, interactive, and made me feel like I was in Christmas heaven. The tour in my opinion is geared toward for kids 6 and up, and everyone else after that. All of our tour guides, hilighted there areas well. If you ever find you have to reschedule your tour, the staff are more then eager to help with that. Check in through the black doors, at gift shop ; be sure to browse and take home a piece of christmas or other souvenir. Everything about the tour epic, loved it all from Santa squeeze, to Grand Ball room to room with all the toys, restoration room, the slide from Christmas Story, Lord & Taylor clock at the start of the tour, all the Christmas windows. We got to meet Gregory Box Johnson - a pilot who went to the Space station twice! We also seen the zero gravity facility where NASA can make objects become weightless for slightly over 5 seconds as it drops below ground over 430 feet. We were taken into the control room of where rocket engines are tested - inside joke (where pigs fly!)! The employees of mass were not only knowledgeable, but friendly and willing to answer all questions asked. I am so excited to take my girls back for open house tours over the next few years! I love that one of their three directors is from Puerto Rico. With the right support and hard work you can be anything you want to be!

We were not the first tour of the day...l so we got the bum's rush at times... they do have a gift shop still open... BUT... the larger exhibit / museum space is closed... it has been moved to the Great Lakes Science Center. Soooo... if you are looking to let your kids crawl and explore head to the Science Center... if you are looking to get a great geek's view of one of the departments and talk to staff take the guided tour as early in the day as you can.

There was a lot to see and I would definitely give yourself at least 90 minutes to see both areas. There is a hangar also to see the bigger planes. There were many nice tributes, and we got a kick out of the Hogan's Heroes memorabilia. The vintage cars were a bonus. I can't wait to tell my dad he needs to take a drive here just for the classic cars! I think one of the first cars he drove was the '57 bel aire convertible. The yellow one here is in pristine condition. Also loved the vintage Bob's Big Boy side of window drive up sign. Classic! The attention to detail and restoration is truly a labor of love for many of the items here. In the hangar, there were quite a few volunteers. They were busy getting things ready for Father's Day weekend! The ford two motor plane will be taking passengers for a nostalgic ride. This museum is an amazing tribute to the put in bay, Lake Erie aviators. There is also war memorabilia! The investment that continues in this amazing museum and the diner attached is remarkable. I was preparing myself for Biblewalk to be cheesy or preachy, but this place is actually really…read moreinteresting and neat. This is the only life-size wax museum in the state of Ohio, and it features more than 300 wax figures depicting around 100 scenes from the Christian Bible. The theme of this wax museum is nondenominational Christianity and the Bible, so you'll see many scenes from Bible stories, both Old Testament and New Testament, like Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, Jonah and the whale, Jesus speaking to the little children, the last supper, the crucifixion of Christ and all of the other heavy hitters. The stories are presented very earnestly. Each story has its own little scene, and you press a button and the lights come on for that scene, and a recorded voice reads that particular scene's passage from the Bible. There are pews in front of the scene, so you can sit and absorb what's going on. Each recording is about 5-7 minutes. As you can imagine, if you made your way from the beginning to the end and listened to each Bible story, you would be there all day. (The lady who works there said some people are there like five hours.) However, you can also just wander the museum and pick and choose which stories you want to hear. I am a cynical person, and this is really not the kind of place you want to take me without expecting me to say something about it. But I have nothing but good things to say about Biblewalk. There is something very warm and comforting about it. It's like the best of the Midwest: Just wide-eyed, open-armed optimism and hope. I was prepared to roll my eyes at the earnest of it all, but you kind of get wrapped up in all of the stories as you walk through the museum. It's hard not to appreciate the museum and the stories that mean so much to so many.
