I've been here 3x now - once to establish an appointment, once for grooming, and unfortunately once for an urgent reason. All appointments during COVID. Each time has been top tier with receptionists, techs, vets, being attentive and treating my dog with compassion and me with respect! Dr Ashlan has been top tier and especially Lauren, the groomer, who worked so well with my dog. She did a great cut on him (his first at 9 months) and was so patient with him being antsy and anxious. Having pets since I was a young boy, I can honestly say that the Firetower Animal Clinic is in a league all its own. I've done multiple reviews on this facility, and I will continue to give five stars. Rudy is now a senior canine which in itself presents new health issues. My wife noticed a spot on his back which had an odor. She took him in, once again, as a walk-in. The Staff worked him in to be seen. Sure enough, what we suspected was ringworm was verified. He also had a bloodshot eye. Medication was prescribed and Rudy went home. Please support this facility! You won't be disappointed. read more

Went with a twelve year old sick pup. Vomiting lost 12 lbs,could not keep water or food down. I was told i wasnt feeding him enough, give him 4 cups and to keep up the good work, he looks great. WTF I then take him to Points east and he was diagnosed with Mega esophagus and pneumonia. i left two Email messages and spoke with an employee the next am. My dog is very sick, I need to speak with someone. Please Call me back.Being the mama bear that I am I left a message at 730 pm demanding i need someone to call me back, to be truthful i left a somewhat " colorful " message to no one in particular. The next day they told me not to come back. Today i had to send my sweet sweet pup to Rainbow Bridge. RUN if you go in with a sick dog who lost alot of weight and can not eat. When it comes to high quality vet care, you cannot do better than the staff here. From the front desk to the techs to the vets, everyone is absolutely wonderful. They always help work me in whenever I need something, and they also do a great job supporting local animal rescue organizations. PILL PUSHERS Brought our dog to the vet because of kennel cough. Vet stated that animal had heart murmur and needed additional medication. The dog had seen another vet a week earlier and was told that it would be years before our dog needed this medication. We saw another vet a week after this visit (we are traveling) and that vet said our dog did not have heart murmurs which would require medicine at this time. Drugs will expire before they are needed. Very disappointed in this vet. read more

Overall, it was okay! I needed help.with a cat I found, but instead of getting help and encouragement, Nancy kept telling me that I couldn't do it. So I ultimately ended up surrendering the cat, but why not tell me what I should do instead of telling me that I can't do it? I would have kept the cat and done my best with the proper guidance if I didn't have to go out of town this week, that is the only reason why I didn't keep the cat. I'm not sure how me explaining that I was calling people I know for assistance made Nancy feel like I'm incapable to care for the cat, but hey it is what it is I just know if I ever find another cat if I see Nancy I'm going the other way because she is judgmental and I was just asking for and seeking help on what I should do, but instead I was met with judgment by way of being told what I can't do and she doesn't know me and what I can or can't do! I had an 8:00 appointment this morning and was done and gone by 8:20, even with the Covid protocols in place and short staffing. I have two 4 legged kids ( English bulldog and a rescue Shihtzu ) and find it almost funny how they drag me into the vet. Not the response I got with our previous vet! The lobby is open and there is a streamline check in process. Always seems to have several gals at the desk so you don't have to wait long. Docs spend adequate time with discussing my dog(s) health etc and I never feel rushed. My bulldog had a full dental cleaning a few months back and was very happy with the professionalism. I was so nervous about the heavy sedation for my dog and they spent time with me to ease my anxiety. My rescue has skin issues and only has one eye due to his past history. They are gentle with him and have educated me on keeping his remaining eye healthy. I recommend them highly. read more

I have been taking my dog and cat to Firetower Animal Clinic since we moved to Greenville over a year ago. I started here after many recommendations from local people that I met. We have always had great experiences with the veterinarians and the office staff. I have always felt welcomed, they loved my animals and were helpful when they were sick or I was needing something. This week, I urgently needed to take my cat in whom seemed to have some type of bladder infection. I received my appointment and left work early to take my cat in. Upon meeting the veterinarian Dr. McAvoy my experience turned sour. Instead of her helping to ease my worries about my cat she immediately went to the worst case scenario saying "If you hadn't brought him in now he would have been dead by tomorrow". From that moment on it was a terrible experience. Her ridiculing me for how I care for my cat I.e. not having more than one litter box in my small one floor house, how my dog is stressing him out, I don't have a large enough litter box for him, I don't put it in the quietest (guest bedroom) part of my house, my carrier was not adequate for him, etc. One thing after another was my fault for why he had this bladder infection. Instead of helping me and educating me she was abrasive and mean. As she went into the back room to get his antibiotics I could hear her bad talking me to all of the vet techs and veterinarians. It was a very sad experience after having so many good ones at Firetower. I will continue to go, however, I will refuse to ever see Dr. McAvoy again or have her care for my pets. read more

We've been taking our three furbabies (a Chiweenie and two cats, all rescues) to Firetower Animal Clinic for just over two years. We've had great experiences with them and the vets are really good with keeping us informed of any issues our pets have and how to take care of them. For the most part, they've been gentle with each of them. I say this because one was a bit "matter of fact" with my Chiweenie, but nothing bad. They're very busy and I understand they only have a certain amount of time they can spend with each patient but, when necessary, they take their time to discuss a matter and how to deal with it. We've never felt rushed to get the visit over or that the vet didn't have time to answer any of our questions. This is the best animal clinic we've had our pets to and the vets are all very good. I can tell they really and truly care about the animals and their well being. read more

My dog is old and (to be honest) kind of a jerk when faced with anyone in a white coat. Every vet we've worked with has been kind and understanding of my sweet old girl. She had to have ear surgery last year and they did a wonderful job. I completely trust them with my dog and will continue to take her there for all her veterinary needs. read more

I have always heard good things about Firewtower compared to other vets in the area. The past few times I have gone, service was good, but expect to wait 20+ minutes in the lobby even when you have an appointment. The last time I went (August 5th) my dog was due for her updated rabies, bordatella shots. She did fine, but a week later, one of the spots was still raised on her hip where the shot was administered. I called and they said I could come and wait for walk ins and still have to pay the $35 vet admin fee. I also asked which of the shots was given in her right hip, which they said they didn't know because it wasn't written down... like what.... thankfully I'm moving and won't have to go back. read more

I was there yesterday 9/9/19... I am actually beyond frustrated that the staff that handled my cat suggested a test and didn't tell me that the test was going to cost 180+ dollars. I wanted it done... But, I was blindsided at checkout by the bill and was really frustrated. Staff members who handled my cat were great, but I am severely frustrated that I wasn't given warning that this test was so expensive. read more

I also experienced them saying one of the urinalyses was botched and needed another one with no mention of me needing to pay for it... and then they asked to do a 3rd before I decided I was done with them. The office staff is friendly, but there is one veterinarian who is rude and basically insinuated I don't take care of my animals. I found this extremely off-putting, because I take them to all of their checks and any time there is anything wrong I call or bring them up there. They also have NO major health problems, which is why it was annoying to keep hearing her say, "they don't look TERRIBLE, I guess... it could be worse... it's okay for their ages..." WHAT?? My mom took her pets here and saw the same rude vet that I did. The vet didn't even TOUCH or SPEAK TO her pets during the visit! She then tried to sell my mom a bunch of things she didn't need. My cat has been a patient at Firetower since I moved here about six years ago. She is not an easy cat to handle and has to visit fairly often for grooming, since I can't even clip her claws myself.
