Been associated with many tree trimming companies over the years. But this is hands down the best…read more No worries. They know the trees. And they are up on all paperwork. I could work for anyone. But Tree of Life Gets 10 STARS for having it super together

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. As a retired University of California Horticultural researcher and…read moreeducator, I trained ISA Arborists and professional landscapers and I understand tree physiology. I was very specific about what I wanted done and how I wanted it done: 3 trees, NO spikes, only deadwood removed and 3 overhanging pine branches removed, tree branches overhanging pool cut back. The estimator appeared to listen, assured me he would pass along the info to his crew, and then left. Good: they protected the pool from falling branches as they pruned what overhung the pool, they cleaned their mess up at the end of the job very thoroughly. Bad: the climber spiked his way all the way up the central trunk of the tree in the front yard before I threw a fit and called the company to tell him to come down and remove them. He didn't speak good enough English for me to communicate with him. Then the estimator tried to blow smoke up my ass that spikes were OK on certain trees. He apologized, but he also complained that it would now take longer. Of course it takes longer to do it right! NO certified Arborist worth their salt would EVER use spikes on a living tree they were not removing. Chris thinks he knows more than he actually does. Being in the business a long time doesn't necessarily make you better educated about trees. More BAD: they removed a lot of living wood from a eucalyptus when I only wanted the dead twigs removed. When I went out to question him about why there were living branches on the ground, the kid in the tree tried to tell me they were actually dead branches with living leaves on them, when in fact he had either made a mistake with those cuts or those branches were just inconveniently located for him trying to climb the tree with ropes alone. And finally, they worked on a tree I did not ask them to work on, removing the central leader which is the biggest no-no there is. WHY? Chris didn't even know what kind of tree it was and when he asked me about it I told him to just leave that one alone. UGLY: see photographs. I would never trust this company with my trees again.
