My wife and I woke up one morning with a gurgling leak in the backyard between two raised beds near our chicken coop. There's a spigot in the chicken coop and I was pretty sure the leaking was starting near the coop. After digging several pilot holes and coming up empty in finding the leak we called Mark. Sio glad we did. First he was pretty sure the leak was coming from near the raised beds. After quite a bit of digging and removing a surprisingly large chuck of concrete - old pergola foundation? - he found the leak right where he said it would be. Unfortunately whoever put in the pipes laid three different pipes in the same trench (one main line and two large drip lines under the raised bed - a bad spot) with 90 degree elbows going all sorts of directions. Basically it was a mess and Mark did a great job diagnosing which of the three pipes was leaking and fixing it. Fixing this on my own would have taken days and an immense amount of frustration. So glad we called in a pro that fixed the problem and saved me a lot of grief. read more

Irrigation is a headache. I've learned as much as I could and have a good handle on my drip and sprinklers, but when one of my sprinkler valves started leaking I just gave up and called First Class Irrigation. I had 8 sprinkler valves that were over twenty years old and were barely hanging on. I decided to bite the bullet and get them all replaced. I called First Class and Mark came out the same day. He gave me quote and it was very reasonable for how much work needed to be done. He was able to come out the next day--I wasn't sure how long it would to take to get done but he and his worker got the whole thing done in an afternoon. Mark told me everything he was going to do before he did it, and updated me as he completed the work. I also have to add, as I'm a woman who does a lot of my own house projects, Mark was never even remotely patronizing. When I told him I maintained the irrigation myself, he just gave me some tips for improving my system and some ideas for replacing my front sprinklers. Our drip irrigation system had some leaks due to damage by stump grinders, and we needed it fixed soon. Mark was very responsive to my inquiries on Yelp, and unlike one of his competitors, gave me an estimate in writing on company letterhead explaining what would be done and the cost so there would be no misunderstandings. Some contractors can't be bothered with the time it takes to make an itemized invoice, so I can't be bothered with hiring them. His team did a great job reworking the irrigation around some yard improvements we were making (leveling, artificial turf, new fence) and set up lines for the new trees we will plant. We called FCI when one of our irrigation feeder tubes blew up and kept cracking/tearing, making a patch impossible. Tech was friendly, knowledgeable, and took his time, not only checking the valves and lines but inspecting all plantings in front and back yards to see which areas weren't getting enough water. Diagnosed too much pressure in the lines - the above-ground sprinkler system had previously been converted to an underground drip system without installing pressure regulators on the valves, so feeder tubes were failing. He located and patched another leak in the front yard that we didn't know about, and replaced the valves. Luckily he gave us two business cards because we gave one to a friend needing irrigation help a few weeks later. Highly recommended. read more
