Ching is an incredible physical therapist! For a month she's been doing pelvic floor therapy with me and I'm so so so grateful for the changes in my tailbone pain. She's super knowledgeable, kind, funny, and respectful. More than that she actually cares and wants you to be comfortable. All of the receptionists have been incredible as well. I've had a wonderful experience at this facility, thanks largely to my physical therapist, Karina, who is attentive and never rushes our sessions. The technicians, Stephie and Denise, are also fantastic. On one occasion, I brought my baby along, and the staff was incredibly helpful, looking after her so I could focus on my therapy--thanks Anna! I've been going to Bklyn body works since they opened up. During many different problems I always come out feeling better.

in mid October I began PT training with Chelsea Wheeler, a top notch therapist. I found her to be extremely knowledgeable. She spent time explaining my problem using an anatomical model, did research outside of our sessions times and came prepared with internet sites and suggestions, prepared exercises for me to do at home and established a solid routine. I found her approachable and collaborative. My situation has required brainstorming and experimenting with different strategies and exercises. Chelsea is a great listener, empathetic but realistic. I trust her emphatically. I'm 69 years old. Last year I was treated for cancer with surgery, chemo and radiation. Unfortunately there have been some side effects, mainly a prolapsed rectum and other uncomfortable symptoms. It's most likely going to be a long road to recovery without 100% guarantee that the problems will be fully resolved but there has been improvement and if there needs to be surgery in my future I would absolutely return to Chelsea for post op PT. I started coming here because Dr. Meliso recommend to my daughter to have few sessions after a bone bruise she had. The place is good and their staff are super attentive and friendly. Also they work until 6 pm which is great for people who needs to come after work. One of our favorite therapist is Nathaly she is great but don't get me wrong they all have knowledge of what they are doing. After suffering from incontinence for about 15 years, and after trying another pelvic floor therapy facility about 10 years ago which didn't help, I'm fortunate to have found Chelsea at Brooklyn Body Works. The entire facility is clean and bright, the staff is positive and friendly, and Chelsea is a treasure. She taught me exercises to improve my specific weak muscles; after only a few sessions I am better than I've been all these years. I can't believe it myself. I also found a pelvic floor device called Flyte which provides vibration therapy to the pelvic floor and between the pelvic floor therapy and the device, my incontinence is SO much better. I thought I would have this trouble forever, and it was getting worse. I couldn't have imagined that someone in my situation could and would improve so much. read more

I have mixed feelings about my experience with Brooklyn Body Works. The therapist was pleasant and spent a good amount of time with me one-on-one, which is not often the case with physical therapy. However, the therapist did not seem to have an actual plan of care for me and the exercises were haphazard. Although my injury was very specific, the therapist would ask me each session what I would like to do and seemed to have no treatment plan. It felt like we were just doing random exercises, some of which I later learned were actually contraindicated for my condition. Further, despite repeated requests, I could not get a printed or emailed home exercise plan. I was always told it would be emailed and confirmed my email multiple times, but only received it once. I wanted to like Brooklyn Body Works and appreciate that it is not a big PT mill, but based on my experience, I chose to find another practice. read more

I was really looking forward to coming in as a new patiet as i have a long list of issues and need help, but the woman i spoke to on the phone was NOT HELPFUL at all. She was short, disrespectful, and unwilling to work with me. I was willing to pay out of pocket for my long list of issues, but she couldnt get over the fact that i needed help with more than one body part. it's a shame too because i need the help and the therapists here are probably good. when i asked to speak with someone else she refused. message to the owners - find someone new to answer phones. maybe someone with an iota of compassion or understanding. read more

Long story short - I have good health insurance. BBW happens not to be in-network for me. My experience with BBW has been so positive, I choose to pay them out of pocket rather than going somewhere that accepts my insurance. I'm a lifelong athlete, often dealing with standard injuries, such as sprained ankle, golfer's elbow, runner's knee, shin splints, etc. Matt and his staff are knowledgeable and committed to getting you back to doing what you want to do. I've been to several other PT clinics, in Manhattan & Brooklyn but have yet to find the same level of knowledge, and an interest in getting you back to where you want to be. read more

Best PT I have ever experienced. Matt and his staff are amazing. I cannot thank them enough for all that they are doing for me. Each session I have had so far is at least an hour and a half and they really take their time in my rehabilitation sessions. I really wish I had done my homework much better last year for my other knee and found here. Matt and his staff are professionals at all sorts of injuries and they are really working hard to get my tibial plateau fracture and my completely ruptured ACL to the strength and motion I need to get back to work and function normally. I was in a lot of pain and very depressed after bad surgeries of my right knee. I came to BBW with a frozen knee and I couldn't even bend more than 50 degrees. Melvin, my PT, saving me from this bad situation. He is very professional, knowledgeable, patient and caring. I remember every moments that he is helping me not only about my knee, he is also helping me look for doctors, deal with insurance and cheer me up. My husband has been going here on and off for the last few years for a neck injury, so when i badly sprained my hand, it was easy to choose BBW. My therapist is Matt, he's very attentive and extremely knowledgable. They recently expanded to a larger space on the second floor of the same building, so the experience is even better. What I like best is the camaraderie between everyone who works there, it makes for such a pleasant experience, especially for someone like me who gets anxious in health care settings. Been going to PT for almost a year now for a SLAP II repair I had a year ago. My original PT moved to a less convenient location, so I had find another place. I'm glad I came upon Brooklyn Body Works. These guys are amazing. The facility is brand new and well maintained. It's conveniently located on Union near Broadway (very close to the G & M/J trains). All the staff are incredibly nice and helpful (even at 7am!). The PT's I met this morning, Matt (the director) and Melvin really know their stuff. Though my original PT is pretty awesome and has gotten me really far in my rehab, these guys showed me another perspective and approach with regard to exercises and routine - and I noticed a huge difference in the way my shoulder was engaging during treatment. Aline and Chelsea are instinctually skilled in 2 unique ways, but they both seem to share empathy with the person they are treating and so they seem to know what to physically do to heal. These people are very very competent and extremely nice. Patients come in from the neighborhood but also from all over the city because the treatments are so good. Everyone in the office speaks Spanish and works hard to make sure all patients are comfortable. They treat injuries but also have relevant things to say about avoiding sports injuries, ergonomic posture and anything else that's related to healthy body movement. I have gone a few times for chronic pain in the back and shoulder and there is never any impatience for my questions, the treatments are always thoughtful and thorough and it's a comfortable place for women to receive treatment. It's an atypical place for this neighborhood. They take all major insurance plans and if yours is not on the list, you should talk to them because they are willing to work with you. read more

I had shoulder clavicle surgery last September to repair a non-union break that I had suffered a year ago from an accident. I started physical therapy in October and have been recently discharged. Through the entire time, the staff was helpful in advising and rehabilitating my injuries. It was a great experience such that now I have also integrated some of their workout exercises into my normal regiment as I get back into things. I can say with confidence that I feel much better and look forward to getting into active sports again. I highly recommend (especially athletes!) to check out this place. They have the right tools and personnel to achieve your athletic and personal goals. It was a pleasure to have Natalia as my PT with all her supportive staff. I first came here when the business had just started and was getting on its feet. It used to be a small cute quaint place and all the therapists were very knowledgeable and very helpful. Just recently injured myself and had the pleasure of coming back to them and seeing that they've stepped up their game with a much bigger and beautiful space! Lots more of equipment and different therapists. Things are still the same as far as the service is concerned. Great therapists. Even more knowledgeable and helpful. I've spent a lot of time here and continue to do so. Melvin and Matt are the best therapists ever. They keep me busy, challenge my body while going through extensive rehab. Recently had surgery on my ACL and so far my recovery has been great! Better than I expected. I am now about to have surgery on my shoulder to fix some tears in my rotator cuff and I look forward to the recovery process with the two of them taking care of me. Brooklyn Body Works is honestly the best PT experience I've ever had. I have been coming here for issues with hypermobility in my shoulders and hadn't been able to find relief for nearly a year before coming here. The staff is so wonderfully friendly, helpful, and experienced, and in all my time I have never felt rushed or pushed through a "PT mill" (an experience I've definitely had elsewhere). I require some pretty particular manual therapy, and when I first came in I could not even lift my arm. After seeing Brittani for a number of sessions I no longer have ANY issues in that shoulder. 100% recommend not only for the very qualified and experienced PT but also for the wonderful service and friendliness of the staff. read more

I really like this place. I was told I ought to do physical therapy for my sprained ankle. I tried going through my insurance website trying to find a provider, but it was so poorly laid out that I just came to Yelp and looked for something well reviewed and found Brooklyn Body Works. I called them up and they looked up my insurance, told me they took it, and warned me about how high my co-pay was before I made the appointment. Thanks for the heads up guys! It has been great. I really like the people working here, I like the environment, I like that there is such a diverse group of people getting work done here. If you have never done physical therapy I'd recommend asking when you book your first appointment what you should wear. After 2 visits I finally realized I should just throw a pair of yoga pants or sweats in my bag to change into. I would come back, and I'd recommend them to anyone I know who needed physical therapy. read more

After my surgery I was in contact with Karen and Judy that were able to accommodate me without the " attitude" I got from other locations.... From the minute I walked through BBW doors I was treated as if they knew me forever... Melvin was my therapist for the few months I was there. He was professional and kept it together as I tortured him every day with the question: " Do you think I have a blood clot? " I honestly loved them all and miss going.......the receptionists, the assistants, the DPT's...they're an amazing group with hands of gold ! Where to commence. This is such an incredible place. If you're looking for PT in Brooklyn, you can't do any better. I started coming in a couple of weeks before my ACL surgery and have been coming in since then (I am now 2 weeks post op). All the therapists I've worked with - Tanya, Sean, Chelsea - not to mention Jay, Crystal, Michael...everyone there is absolutely incredible both on the PT and human level. I always leave BBW in a better mood & with my knee feeling better and stronger. Also, the front desk staff is so nice - Glenda always brings a smile to my face. They are always super accommodating with scheduling. I think a big testament to the greatness of this place is the fact that even though I've had to stay with friends in Manhattan after my surgery, I still insist on going to Brooklyn Body Works, even if it is a $25 cab ride from my friend's place. This place is a godsend. I've had issues with my left shoulder for years, and I've seen an orthopedist repeatedly over this time (cortisone injections, etc.). It got to the point that we were considering surgery, but I suggested (sadly, I was the one) that we try PT first. Well after 3/4 months of visiting BBW, I can happily say the issues w/ my shoulder are almost entirely gone! Everyone at this place is fantastic, from the reception to all of the therapists. I'm pretty sure I've been had. First off, I'm always suspect of a place that just takes cash and checks...but I figured I'd give BBW a try. I arrived for my appointment, filled out the paperwork and then waited for 40 minutes to be seen. My therapist was a nice enough chaps, but none of the advice or exercises were especially involved, attentive or relevant to my injury. After one of the exercises (calf stretches) the assistant just said, "so that's it" and the therapist asked if I had questions. Yes, I have questions! All the questions! What'd I just waste an hour and $120 for?!? I hurt my back and here I am stretching my calves. You're telling me to warm up before a workout and I just finished telling you I've worked out 5x a week since high school...I'm aware of the importance of a warm up. Anyway, I don't need this to be a crazy rant, but save your money and try and find some place that can actually help you if you're injured. I'm not sure BBW is legit. read more
