George, the owner, is a gentleman, but it ends there. I had all of the windows in the house…read morereplaced. No one worked over 4 hours in a day on the windows. First crew: 2 guys the 1st day, 1 guy the second, then no show, then 2 guys, then 1, etc. They removed / installed the windows and did the outside trim, in between moaning about needing money and mentioning what a big tip they got on their last job. The removal of the old windows was not a "cut out" as I was told, but the claw end of a hammer was used to smash and rip out the old windows & outside trim, in addition to any insulation or celotex that was up next to and any where near the windows, leaving exposed areas. The areas around the outside edges of the new windows, only have caulking and a little, if any, erratic spraying of foam insulation and the rest of the area ripped out is still totally exposed (where their once was insulation and/or celotex). When I questioned why exposed areas, I was told that foam insulation would be added as the outside trim was done. The outside trim was totally lacking in craftsmanship. I base this statement on the original trim that was in place. None of the new trim, from window to window, was consistent and was definitely uneven on the same window (flush at the top, protruding on one side, etc). On one window, all of the trim was actually totally recessed, not even far enough out to come flush with the siding. And caulking was more missing than it was anything else. George came out (with one of his other contractors), reviewed, with the contractor agreeing with me, and agreed to correct the outside trim. The second crew (sent in for trim correction) was 1 man, who worked several hours on one window attempting to correct the outside trim. He did not finish the one window nor did he ever return. On a midday Saturday, I got a call from a gentleman saying he was a contractor for G&S who was going to come out to work on the windows. He never showed up or even extended the courtesy of calling me to say he had changed his mind. Next, a crew consisting of a more than several guys came out. I was feeling great. "Finally, we are going to get this done!" Then one spoke up and asked "Did Ray Charles do these windows?" I was not impressed. Now mind you, several months and many crews later, I am not a happy person and am definitely wondering why I chose who I chose. Any way, these guys worked and announced that they were done. I looked things over quickly, said thank you, all is good, you're done, go on your way. The outside trim on one window is still totally lacking caulk, others are missing caulk in some areas, etc. So why did I say "O.K." Go.? If they could not see what they had not done, how many more crews and MONTHS were going to pass by? I just needed for this whole mess to be over. I will finish caulking and correct what I can, and live with the rest. I have already corrected the inside caulk. My wife thinks the house is warmer. I remind her that there is a lot more sunshine coming in through the windows now. I said, feel the metal around the inside edges of the windows where only caulk and erratic, if any, foam insulation was used on the outside and all celotex and/or insulation was removed. The metal is cold on the inside edges. Caulk is not classified as insulation! On this subject, when I questioned the guy who was installing the windows on insulation, he simply replied " you can't use very much expanding spray insulation or it will bind the windows." My question that remains until this day, "have you never heard of non expanding foam insulation?"

I quickly realized I had to narrow the field down. Some companies DEMANDED that my wife and I both be present for meetings. I guess they assumed we could be pressured into signing right then. Those companies were eliminated right away. If I could manage a multi-million dollar business, my wife trusted me to make decisions about our home. I also quickly ruled out the top two name brand companies (Pella and Anderson) who relied on their name to justify outrageous mark ups but provided lousy warranties. Instead I did a nationwide search for top rated and reviewed windows. I also read articles in a number of consumer sites and magazines. Over time, I narrowed it down to just a few companies. One did not sell in our market (Okna) so that was easy. That left Sunrise as my preferred choice. G&S is the local Sunrise dealer so I met with them. What a pleasant experience!!! Randy Sumrow came out and met with me, listened to my needs and helped me define the scope. He later sent me a quote for the project. There was no pressure, no sign now and you'll get something special or a better discount, no "be a showcase or provide leads" special program! Just a fair and honest quote from a local, family owned business who have been doing this for years. I called him several weeks later and placed our order. Today, they completed the installation and I couldn't be any more satisfied!!! The windows are fantastic and the quality and workmanship involved in the installation is exceptional. Our premises were cleaner when the crew was finished then before they arrived. I am more than happy to take a phone call if anyone has questions. The company can provide my number.

I was pleasantly surprised by the low-pressure sales approach, which differed from other reviews…read moreI'd seen. The pre-installation process was straightforward and very helpful, giving me a clear understanding of what to expect. Unfortunately, installation day brought several complications. A team of three began installing 16 windows, but just 15 minutes in, one technician badly twisted an ankle and had to leave. The remaining two proceeded to remove all windows on a scorching 90+ degree day before starting replacements, turning my home into an uncomfortably hot and humid environment. While they finished the installation that day, it was an incredibly long shift, from just before 10 AM until 9 PM, requiring my continuous supervision. I noted that a drop cloth was only used for the very first window, which helped with the mess initially but wasn't continued. Another issue was the window color. I had specified a tan/wicker exterior with a white interior, but received entirely white windows. To avoid a 6-8 week delay and a $350 rescheduling fee, I accepted them. They do look good, and the white exterior matches my previous windows, so I'm not overly concerned about this. My primary outstanding concern is a gutter downspout that was removed during installation and never reinstalled. Despite multiple calls (three to the install team, two to the service team), I haven't received any communication or action to rectify this. This lack of follow-up so soon after installation makes me question the reliability of their warranty service.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Window Nation…read more I had a representative come to my home to provide a quote for 8 windows. After the appointment, I decided to take a few days to do my due diligence and gather a couple of additional quotes before making a decision. Three days later, I received an email from the Sales Manager, Richard Hansen, with a revised quote. Surprisingly, the new price was significantly lower than the original quote, but it was for 11 windows instead of the 8 I actually needed. Since the pricing was much more competitive, I reached back out and simply asked for the same pricing to be adjusted for the 8 windows I wanted to purchase. Richard responded that the lower price had been sent in error due to a "system glitch" and that Window Nation would not honor it. Mistakes can happen, but what was most disappointing was the company's unwillingness to stand behind the quote they sent or make any effort to find a reasonable solution. As a customer who was genuinely interested in moving forward, it left me feeling that the pricing was inconsistent and that customer satisfaction wasn't a priority. I expected better communication and better customer service from a company of this size. Unfortunately, this experience has caused me to take my business elsewhere.

I couldn't contact them and I was for sure I got scammed. I went as far as to go to the police and contact an attorney who told me realities of recouping money. But here's the deal. The policeman went and talked to them and came back to me and told me the truth. They had a job fall through and this cascaded through many people. Is it right I couldn't contact them... NO. But he made me see it another way. They were scared. They didn't have our deposits as most contractors use one jobs money for another and it's a house of cards. That's reality of this business. These people made a mistake, but in his words, they weren't trying to commit a crime. And don't kid yourself... almost any mom and pop business is one job away from this happening. So I had 2 choices. Get mad, sue them, keep the police involved or I could work with them. Option 1 might feel good for a minute but option 2 allows me to get my windows and take a little off their plate. So, he had them call me. And with some brutal honesty on both sides we were able to come to an agreement. They could keep my deposit as labor and I'd purchase the windows myself (through them because I'd pay a fortune and don't have a license with manufacturers). And that's what we did. In the end it cost me almost the exact same as originally quoted. 3 weeks later my windows arrived and they promptly put them in. They look wonderful and they did a magnificent job. I have zero complaints and am happy enough to tell this story and try to help them out. Look, I wanted to believe the worst and almost let my anger take me down the option 1 road. But it wouldn't have benefitted anyone. A little compassion and a bit of honesty allowed both of us to win. I recommend you use them. Their workmanship is top notch and they are just trying to recover from a job gone bad.
