Alright for the most part. Great bc theres never a line. but i was really bothered one time when a young fella gave some unsolicited advice on what to do with my money. Nobody asked. I understand when withdrawing a certain amount of money, They have to ask what you are going to do with it. but after telling him he did not have to tell me that he wouldn't do that and what he would rather do. Yes, I used to be with a big bank- the biggest one probably, with the red, white & blue logo...but their incessant fees and their selling my home loan to some other entity finally drove me away. I had some prior experience with First Financial at their Wilshire branch. The car loan was a great rate and, although I didn't buy a hybrid the last time, they offered 1% more off your loan for a hybrid purchase. I thought that was cool. A good first impression. So when it came time to leave the big bank, I found this location, which is close to one of my work sites. Very friendly and personal service. They make an effort to remember you. It's never crowded or stressful. Since it's a credit union, you can use your ATM card at any 7-11 or at another credit union. They have online banking too, of course. They offer auto loans and home loans. The only glitch I've run into is that you can't get a print out of your account activity at their ATM. This can only be done in person or online. But, overall, I'm saving big money from those ridiculous fees I used to be charged. First Financial only charges you a once yearly overdraft fee- that's a lot of extra in my pocket! read more

I tried to re-fi my mortgage with FFCU back in early June and despite my good credit and high income, they ran me in circles and left me hanging at every turn. Many weeks later, they denied my application without responding to my multiple requests for an appraisal. They also ignored my request to tell me if using the $15k cash in my FFCU savings account to pay off my car loan would help me to qualify. It is like they ignored the fact that I have been busting my ass to save up enough cash to make the re-fi work. Instead they brushed me off and blamed every non-response on COVID. After giving them all the paperwork back in early June, they took over six weeks just to tell me I did not qualify, but again, they did not tell me why or offer to work with me on what might be wrong with my financial picture. I have a 740 credit score, no adverse marks on my credit, and a high paying Full Time job at a huge company. It makes no sense why they would not work with me a little closer to help me re-fi my mortgage. The rates are so low right now, so maybe they are doing it on purpose so they can keep me at the higher rate. Either way, I DO NOT recommend FFCU if you are looking for any sort of personalized attention or a lower interest rate on an existing home loan. They are really pushing away people right now instead of helping them. Guess it is time to move all my accounts over to Chase! By the way, Quicken Loans is much easier to work with, but they take a long time. I am 9 weeks into my application, have been approved, but they are taking awhile to set a close date. At least I have been approved for a good rate and can now leave FFCU for good. No more home loan, checking, savings, or credit card with FFCU. I am DONE. read more

Maybe it is COVID....? Went to wire money and 5 days later...still has not happened and it is near impossible to speak to my financial/service representative/does not call back after I leave a voice mail. I emailed images of some important docs and apparently it is too small to read...written on their form (which gives very little space to write), and I zoomed in the image so it is very easy to see, and I am hard of seeing. My financial representative admitted she has been "too busy" to get to things, which to me is either a bad employee or bad company. Now I am on hold....after 30 min to wait for a call back, they call back and immediately place me on hold, before even speaking to a human. I've never had "on hold" put me on hold! read more

No customer support. One of the reasons I chose this credit union was its so called friendliness toward teachers. I have since found that the First Financial Credit Union is beyond unprofessional in their customer dealings. For years I received, summer skips on my car payments, a service to teachers for the months of July and August when some of us are not paid. The payments are only paused and the two months are added to the life of the loan, meaning the credit union is never effected in it due loan. Starting this year, upon my request for the ever simple request, I was told I was denied for "credit reasons." Having never missed ANY payments on ANY bills, especially including their, the First Financial Credit Union payments, I questioned the validity of their statement. I requested that this issue be raised to the next leave as there is NO reasoning behind this 2 second decision. I also stated that hard ships have happened that caused my credit score to be low but in no way had it effected my paying them on time. I explained that this was needed help for my family as a single mom with only one income, a current job charge that afforded me less annual income, and added serious life heath issues that I literally died and came back from have all contributed to my "credit" score. I was told to send their representative an email stating hardship. So, I did. I was then told The email was not good enough and then I had to send a letter with an ink signature in an attachment to the email. So, I did. Then I was told I had to complete a form. So, I did. AFTER A WEEK, I requested an update. Apparently, it was denied, and no one bothered to tell me. I again asked for understanding and clarification as to why one year was the procedure and the next year I'm jumping through hoops with no responses, over a matter that I had always been a simple telephone request. I had no reply, and found out that the representative was now on vacation. I once again how to start the process from the beginning with a NEW representative. Another letter of hardship was requested, hand written and ink signed, then attached to yet another representatives email. After, for the second time, giving personal life information out, which is difficult do you and man the hardships and that are going on in one's life and have to restate them over and over to strangers asking for just a little help in a situation would have never come to this point to begin with, and granted WITHOUT question to begin with, my case was brought up to management, apparently once again. After, ANOTHER WEEK OF NO REPLY, I again had to request an update. By this time, my car payment was due for July and the ever diligent person I am made my payment. The ever knowledgeable representative stated that I received this summer skip which is why my payment was not due till the next month. I responded back that I made the payment, and that no such skip was in place, but is so would the credit union please refund my payment as I needed it. I was it then send to me email stating that never mind I was denied. After, a month of my life, the indignity of having to share my personal life hardships and stress that this has caused me has become is indescribable in words. I am frustratingly, starving so that my children can eat what little we have. I have taken on a second job to help cover expenses over the summer, which is not enough and has become a drain on my continuously declining health. All I can say is this is a heartless company that denied my family what could have been life-changing and thanks to financial restraints my ability to see the specialist I needed to get well. I respectfully encourage anyone who reads this to send their business elsewhere. read more

After losing both my parents in recent years, the folks at FFCU are the only people who didn't take advantage of or try to swindle my husband and I. And when I say folks, I'm primarily referring to the Granada Hills Branch Manager, Leslie Roberts. She has always taken time out to return our calls, give sound advice, and make sure we are making the best decisions. We rely on her continued professionalism, compassion, know-how and how frequently she personally makes herself available to us for all our banking and financial needs. Not sure where to start. We had a savings account and HELOC with FFCU. We found about a year ago that HELOC has been closed since there was no balance and it has been 10years since it was opened. Note there was no notification at all. When my wife called, they explained why it was closed. Fast forward a year later. Since they charge for paper statements, we had e-statements. Logged in one day and found out we are being charged $2 for single service and $5 dormant fee. My wife called, someone said she will get a callback. No callback next day so she called again. They said she ( branch manager) has your message and will call back. No callback that day or next day. Next day, Friday, we walk to branch to ask questions regarding the fees. While we talking Leslie approached and said that I meant to call you. I said 2 days. She was like I was busy. What an excuse. She said you had charges because... Leslie Roberts was rude and short. So I said close our account. Teller said she is the only one who can do that and she will free up in 30 minutes. I am like no one else can do that? Another guy who was training or monitoring the teller activity promised to call us back. I said we will come back in 30 minutes as could not come later in a day. We came back in 30 minutes, waited little bit and Leslie asked us to her office. She was much nicer this time and decided to refund some of the fees. However the whole experience was outrageous and I would not recommend anyone to deal with FFCU. The management has no idea what is client experience. I have never in my life seen such treatment of a client by any financial institution. read more

New customer, but my mom has been a customer for years. Anyway I love this place!!! Always so quiet when you walk in and there is always someone to help you. They set me up with my first debit and credit card. And because I'm a student I get free checks for life for signing up ! The whole selling point is . . . They helped us find me a car!!! A new 2013 Honda Civic Sedan with 1,300 miles and was $16,400. Practically a new car and the place we went to had the nicest people!!! Highly recommend First Financial! read more

I visited the Granada Hills branch recently to open a savings account and CD. After waiting a few minutes in air conditioned comfort I was helped by Helen. She was very professional and efficient in starting the process as I was a new customer. We encountered a little glitch as I had forgotten that I had placed a freeze on my credit reports after a home break-in. Stacy very patiently helped me lift the freeze temporarily so I could open my new account and CD (with a very favorable interest rate). She then made sure I was fully informed about my new account and even let me know about additional services available at First Financial. During the entire process the people at First Financial were calm, courteous and friendly. I also appreciated the fact that some of the employees had participated in some local school events, thus giving back to the community. read more

Super unhappy with the carelessness of posting my credit card payment (payroll deduction) to a separate loan that did not even have a payment due...... and since the payment amounts were different they posted the difference to my savings. It was like someone fell asleep at the computer and their head hit random keys. It made no sense at all..... I only gave them 3 stars because when I went back for the second time after letting them figure out their error and how to rectify it, it WAS fixed. read more

Walk away from this institution. No, run. Run super fast and super far away. I have just filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau against First Financial Credit Union. They engage in unethical lending and they cannot execute the simplest of financial transactions. A couple issues off of a vast and varied complaint list: - You cannot make online payments. If you'd like to pay your credit card balance online you are out of luck. If you'd like to make a payment over the phone, you are going to be charged a huge fee. - Why would you tie up your checking with them? They have no ATMs and no convenient locations. Furthermore, the locations have hours that don't accomodate anyone with an actual job. So, there is really NO way to do your banking. - Don't even bother trying to call them. They have hung up on me repeatedly. - Don't even bother trying to use their online secure messaging system as I have sent over 5 and not received a single response. - When you do go into the brick and mortar locations because you've given up trying to accomplish anything online or by phone (in 2015) be prepared to be pelted with sales pitches for a used car loan, a new car loan, another credit card, small loans, checking accounts, savings account, etc. I've never been pressured SO hard to participate in SO many programs in one setting. - When at long last you've had enough and you would like to pay off your credit card and transfer the balance to another card (Chase for instance) they will return the balance transfer several times and claim they never got it - even though Chase will tell you it was returned by someone at FFCU. When you finally get everyone on the phone to try to work it out, FFCU will blame the other and will tell you they are on your team trying to correct the other institution's mistake. When you ask them why you were hung up on by FFCU and why no one every responded to messages, they will "have to look into that" for you. It has been over 3 months that I have been trying to get my balance transferred and they will not transfer my balance. They clearly don't want to lose the account, but it is completely unethical to not accept funds to pay off my account. STAY AWAY. read more
