So very traditional Episcopal church in the high orientation, with a welcoming, diverse congregation. Sermon was heavy on the lecture format, less so on the inspirational level. Probably visit a different parish (like All Saint's in Pasadena) next time we're in the area, but appreciated the experience for a once in a while type of Sunday service.

A true Shepard preaches the word of God in truth and Honor, which is what pastor Anthony does and should do! Unfortunately the word of God offends some individuals, but as a Shepard of his flock, pastor A.F. Teaches verse by verse of the Bible, it's not his opinions, it's the truth! We go to church to be fed the word of God and learn, the TRUE word of God. Sometimes this can be offensive or harsh but as believers we are called to live by biblical truths. I recommend this church to anyone who is new to the faith as I was, to anyone who is more interested and eager to learn about the Bible and get to know the Living God through his word rather than going to church to be told what you want to hear. I highly recommend this family of believer and for this to be a church were new comers can call home.

We could not have been more grateful for his professionalism, kindness, generosity and sense of humor. I am an Armenian-American and most of my husband's family belongs to Christian Lutheran denomination. This was the first reason we wanted to have a Lutheran ceremony. Another reason is that the Lutheran church offers a specific beautiful ceremony for married couples who want to renew their marriage vows. And the third reason, important to me personally, which I think I need to mention is the fact that Lutheran church helped many orphaned Armenian children who were victims of the Armenian genocide. This past Friday was an important and one of the most wonderful days in our lives and Pastor Scott added to it greatly.

My family was not a regular church going group before we found this church. The same Angie that the lady referred to below, welcomed us with open arms and encouraged us to participate in the activities. Our kids have been going here for close to 4 years and we are happy to have found a friendly church community. Sadly Angie is no longer at BFUMC but it is still a welcoming and fun church. Our Church is members of the Family Promise, where churches house homeless families for a week. We have a yearly Vacation Bible School in the summer. There is a kids choir and amazing adult choir. There is also classes for yoga, dancing and singing. These are just to name a few of activities. I know we have many special needs members and a few special needs kids that participate in church activities, so I find it hard to believe that Angie would have purposely excluded a child for this reason. There is a nursery and Sunday school for kids below 5th grade to participate in during church services. There is also youth group with an energetic leader for the older kids. If you are looking for a friendly church please check us out. We also have a nice fellowship hour after services that you are welcome to enjoy.

What's new here is how large the staff is now, more than at any point in the last 40 years. One improvement is that the sermons now generally have more contemporary illustrations than the last preacher. But the worship service has not changed, and the opportunities to serve remain the same. This congregation is propped up financially by their governing organization (Presbytery of San Fernando). You can count on this organization applying their will on the members here.

This church is amazing for several reasons. I'll start with the technology. There are 12 Source 4…read morelights, which are incredible spotlights, along with lots of PARs, house lights, and strip lights. All of these are controlled by an ETC Element controller. The church also has 8 speakers made by L-Acoustics, a renowned company known for high-quality sound systems. Additionally, there are 5 TVs, which enhance the worship experience. Before the 2015 renovation, there was only one projector. But since then, the church has added many cool upgrades. Most recently, in August 2024, 5 mounted cameras were installed, which is very exciting. These cameras allow people to watch the worship service from anywhere in the world via YouTube, Facebook, or Zoom. Now, let's talk about the people here. There are two pastors: Pastor Amie and Pastor Libby. I'll begin with Pastor Amie. She is an amazing pastor who makes the church services fun and engaging. She has a unique way of making learning about God both enjoyable and interesting. Then there is Pastor Libby, the assistant pastor. She helps Pastor Amie create memorable sermons, and together, they make a wonderful team. There's also Miss Jane, who is an incredible person. She's very passionate about her job, which involves controlling the lights. What I appreciate is that she lets young students get hands-on experience with lighting control. She believes in teaching the next generation of lighting engineers. I've had several long conversations with her about the technology in the church, lighting engineering, jobs in the industry, and the shows she's worked on, including several judge shows like Judge Judy. It's always fun and interesting talking with her because we share the same hobby, and our conversations can go on for hours. She even took me to see the bulb for one of the older spotlights, which some people might find boring, but I thought it was fascinating. That small moment made my whole day. Mr. Ludwig (also known as Hans) works in the media booth. He is funny, patient, and encouraging. He controls the cameras, and Pastor Amie asked me to learn about them, so I shadowed Mr. Ludwig. He was incredibly patient with all my questions, and thanks to his excellent leadership, I was able to learn the entire system in just under four church services. Then there's Mr. Reed, who also works with the cameras. He stepped in for Mr. Ludwig one time, and I had the chance to shadow him as well. He was just as kind and patient. Mr. Reed is a ski instructor in Montana, and when he's not working in montana, he comes to Glendale to run the cameras when Mr. Ludwig is unavailable. Finally, Mrs. Barbara operates the TVs. She's quick and efficient, and she helped me troubleshoot an issue in the chapel once. She showed me what to do, and the next time I operated the TVs in our school's chapel, I followed her steps, and it worked perfectly! Overall, this church is amazing, and I highly recommend it. I would give it 10 stars if I could. TLDR Incredible tech, wonderful people/volunteers/pastors, and beautiful sermons/services. People of Glendale, come to this church!
