Poor customer service. I made a visit to this office after getting bitten from my cat. Good thing I got my wonderful pet rabies shots. It was a pain to drive my car with one hand, so in turn, I was 8 minutes late. The receptionist told me they would reschedule my appointment because they had this 5 minute rule (they showed me the sign on the desk to prove it, or to rub it in because it seemed like the lead receptionist enjoyed in canceling the appointment) This receptionist also argued with me when I asked to speak to a manager and even threatened she wouldn't cancel any future appointment. Who's the boss here, the receptionist or the doctors? I spoke to the manager and she was of no help. It seems like this office thrives on bullying the customer. Customers keep them in business. It's like biting the hand that feeds you. (MY CAT!) So my appointment was rescheduled for hours later (keep in mind my hand is still in pain, infected and swollen. I guess no one cares if I lose my hand to infection.) I met with a nurse and she was very friendly and sent me off with antibiotics. I was better in about 2 weeks. It is like two different world's at this office. The front office is like a 3rd world country type of customer service, and the back office is like what people think America should be- First world civilized country wanting to take care of you. To add, when I left in the elevator after the first appointment was canceled another patient from the waiting room agreed with me. They said the customer service is ridiculous. I wonder how many others think the same. Running a business is difficult. The easiest part if taking care of customers-it is if you actually care about them. I am disappointed in the level of attention and care I received. On more than one occasion communication via the portal has been dismissive, insulting, and lacking of basic human understanding. I wish I read these reviews over the Google reviews because they are highly misleading! Not sure why this place is so highly rated there when it's clear they're not reputable here. I went as a first time patient after moving to establish a PCP. After searching many reviews, I set it up with Qureshi. It was supposed to be an annual physical but she comes in asking me what she can do for me... then charges me for the visit & some alleged test that was not performed. Physicals are supposed to be covered by insurance as it's preventative. You're just a money maker here & they'll make you wait over a half an hour just to be seen. Their office clearly will charge for items just to try and make a bill even though nothing was actually conducted. Avoid at all costs, not impressed by service. read more

I thoroughly recommend this practice and I think that the reason the overall score is low here is that people leave reviews when they have issues more so than when they have great experiences (like I clearly did!)! IN MY OPINION: The front desk staff and nurses were kind and professional. There was a very minimal wait to see my doctor and when I did, I was pleasantly surprised for my first time with this practice. Dr Vaidya is absolutely amazing and somehow has really good availability (as opposed to some doctors scheduling months out!). She is extremely professional, knowledgeable, informative and offers great overall consultation. She really took her time to not only be thorough, but to answer all of my questions. Great experience on my first visit to their Germantown location. Dr Malik is very personable and caring. I had no issues with the scheduling of the appointment or wait time. Extremely disappointed. Called at 8:30am-ish. A female staff at Germantown office answered. Informed her that I'd like to make a yearly check-up appointment. Provided her with my birthday and full name. She asked my insurance information. I informed her that I have different insurance, from Aetna to United. I offered her my United member ID and group. Instead she kept insisting to know what group my insurance is. I did not understand why. 20 years living in the U.S., never had I been asked the group of insurance when I scheduled doctor's appointments. I told her I did not know which group I belonged to, again offered her my member ID, company, and company group. She still did not want to take my information. I told her the only group I saw is UMR. Immediately, she told me that, "oh, we did not take patients from that group." I asked, "how come? my husband recently enrolled to this clinic with MY UMR insurance, and he is seeing Dr. Lawry." She could not give me satisfying answer. I told her that I have been coming to this clinic even with United insurance before Aetna. I also told her that I have been a customer for a LONG time! How come she did not even bother to accommodate me properly, instead she decided that I am not eligible ALTHOUGH my husband is clearly their patient USING MY INSURANCE. I was too disappointed to even appeal with a stupid staff. I think she is not informed enough, and as a human being, she has very little kindness to help to make things work. I did not ask for free service, I asked to be treated as if I were good long term customer with this clinic. Brushing off customer without clear and educated responses shows how incapable this female staff works and surely she seems to have no sense of empathy. She cannot even answer why my insurance works for my husband but not for me??? It is literally the SAME INSURANCE. WOW, so much for being a returned customer. My wife went in for a follow up appointment I went with her and our 1 y/o. The dr my wife saw originally had left the ore rice and she was pushed to a different dr without any warning. The last dr we saw listened to my wife and was kind and made my wife feel like she was heard. Today the dr Eleanor Dzodzomenyo did not listen to any of our frustrations about being pushed to a different dr knowing it was not specifically her fault. What did this dr do, try to push her to another dr for her next appointment. I stepped outside because our 1 y/o was getting fussy. Next thing I saw was my wife coming out the door crying. Apparently the dr just said don't take your frustration out on me and left the room. There was no listening no caring about her as a patient. The dr just called her rude and left the room. What medical professional or even any professional just does that. Doesn't listen to the patient and tell them to stop being frustrated and leaves. When I went back in to try and talk to someone, I was pushed aside saying my wife was hostile and there was no one I could talk to. It took 10 mins to get them to even file a patient complaint. They would not even hear it. As a medical institution your supposed to respect and listen to your patients. They just pushed us both aside saying we were hostile and we did not raise our voices, we were expressing frustration. I am still waiting for a call from back from someone to talk to. 100% worse dr experience ether if us has ever had. First, when you call, you are talking to an answering service who gives you WRONG info. Examples: I call to say I'm running late. "No problem, come on in" the operator says. WRONG! We sat for 15 minutes in the waiting room until they finally told us we were late and lost the appt. "But I called..." their response: Oh, that was just the answering serivce Tuesday I called. 12:45. Ca;ling from the parking lot. I need a covid test, can I get one? Sure, operator says, come on up. WRONG AGAIN. They are closed for lunch. Took mom for chest x-ray yesterday. STILL have not heard results of test. IF I COULD GIVE A -10 RESPONSE I WOULD. They do not care for older patients well at all. read more

I signed in for my appointment online and put in my new insurance information. It said I completed the sign in process so I thought everything was ok. Later in the day when I showed up for my appointment they told me that they don't take my new insurance! Why didn't they look at the information I sent in the sign in process? They should have told me first thing that they won't accept it to save me from coming in. I mean, isn't that why I took pictures of my new insurance card and typed in my number during the online sign in? In any case, I was there to get refills on my meds that I need so I had to pay the full amount and all I needed were refills. Now I would like to tell you about when Dr Malik came to my plant nursery to buy plants. He came back a few months later and had killed 9 plants that were $125 each and I gave him 9 brand new plants no questions asked. Seems like a nice thing to do. But the fact is....he's rich and I'm poor. Getting big returns like that affected my income. Seems like his office should have a bit better customer service so they don't screw up peoples days by not telling them they don't take insurance ahead of time. YOU HAD ALL DAY TO GET BACK TO ME! You should really refund the $150 that I paid just to get refills. I will be posting other bad reviews unless this matter is rectified. Appropriately named, they put their "Doctor's (profits) First". I have been here several times and was blown away. Its not that the doctors are bad, but the entire experience leaves you feeling like you are just there to pay the bills. First of all, each person I have talked to that takes your vitals and blood are all students finishing up their required clinical hours. (money saver #1) Next, the people at the front desk act like they cant be bothered by your issues. They hand you an iPad like tablet with a card reader to check-in/pay. If everyone that comes in here is sick, why would I want to touch that thing? Yes they could wipe it off, but the stylus goes into an internal holder and crap gets in there no matter what you clean. I came in for an eye problem and could not see well and still had to go through 20 screens. After I had input my ailment, the device actually showed me a full screen advertisement for medication that would help with the problems I listed. I had to click "Next" to get past it. I literally laughed out loud. Why is my check-in device trying to sell me drugs? I have worked in Pharm Sales/Education and I know that companies give these to offices so that they can sell their drugs but it was just very offensive. (Money save #2) Again, its not that the doctor is bad, he himself seems like a nice guy. The whole experience however, from the sales pitch on the unsanitary check-in tablet to the the under-trained rotating staff convinced me not to go back. read more

I've made a tele-health appointment with Dr. Karen Lizarraga, PA-C at 10:20am via ZocDoc but a receptionist called me at 8:30am to reschedule the appointment with Dr. Babak Kazemi Nia for 9:40am. I've logged in as instructed at 9:30am through the link. At 9:44am I received a link to "check-in" and provided my insurance and credit card information, which I've completed right away. After waiting until 11:20 am online, I've called the receptionist, got transferred couple of times, and finally was told that I've "checked-in" too late, which was 9:52am. Anything beyond 10 minutes from the appointment time of 9:40 is considered too late, I was told by the receptionist. I waited on the tele-health link for almost 2 hours and the system kept showing "the Provider will join soon" the practice didn't bother to inform that nobody was coming. I saw no doctor because they neglected to sent their check-in link until after the appointment time. When I asked why the link wasn't sent earlier, I was told "the person who changed your appointment should have sent you the link." Waste of time. Please go somewhere more competent in their ability to do tele-health. read more

Dr. Malik has been my Primary care for almost 5 years now I was very happy about my experience and recommended him to family and friends. Lately. I have been seeing the PA-C Ms. Renee Lapointe and I couldnt be more happier. Ms. Renee is very thorough on examination, she takes time to listen to your needs and for some reason I tent to get anxious inside a doctor's office but she always set a comfortable vibe inside the room, she always make sure she answer all my questions before I leave the office. There were times I have to contact/ send her a message thru patient portal and she always responds quickly. I just had my Annual Physical done which I need to have some lab drawn there's a laboratory next door and I also have a great experience with their service and staff. The results came back so quick and received a message from the PA the next day regarding my results. Overall, I highly recommend this Doctor's office, plus there's no long wait and easy to book appointments. read more

This place is definitely top notch! I started seeing Dr. Malik about a year ago and I made him my primary care physician after my first visit. In regards to I U's review from January, they have changed a few members of the front desk staff and they are excellent! I know to whom I U is referring and that person is no longer there. I am always greeted with a smile and the nurses that assist are fantastic as well. In regards to making appointments, I have NEVER had an issue with this. You can make an appointment through ZocDoc and on most occasions you can be seen the same day. The addition of the new patient portal is great, it makes Dr. Malik more accessible and mundane tasks more convenient like prescription refills and requesting lab results. Dr. Malik is excellent with his patients, he will actually listen to you and work with you to come up with the best cure. I agree with Micah's review, Dr. Malik never for a second gives off that "I am a doctor and I know everything, so what I say goes" type of vibe. I can honestly say that he is the best doctor that I have ever had (next to my former Rheumatologist Dr. Beall @ Arthritis and Rheumatism Associates http://www.washingtonbone.com/welcome.html) I have had emergency situations twice with Dr. Malik and he was easily accessible and got me what I needed the same day, no 2 day wait! If Dr. Malik is out of the office, you do not need to worry at all because his PA Mia Waldon is just like him. Mia is very friendly and you can rest assured that she will do whatever is necessary to make sure you are taken care of. She has such a positive attitude and high energy level whenever I have seen her. Both of these doctors are thorough and will make sure that all the necessary tests are ordered. Like Dr. Malik, she is also very responsive through the office (phone call messages left with front desk assistant are returned promptly) and through the portal. I do understand what I U means when they talk about places starting to lose their luster and I hope that this never happens with the excellent people at Doctor's First!! read more

Far and away the most unprofessional and incompetent staff I've ever encountered. Ms. Murray incorrectly informed me that their lab would test for the condition I was concerned about. It was only when I asked the tech taking my blood that I learned they did not. She then gave me two referrals to places that she promised tested for the condition. I made appointments, only to find the first didn't and then I called the second place and found they didn't either. Then when I found the place in my own, the office refused to fax my records over despite the secretary calling three times. Just horrible. read more

He did not notify my grandmother of a blood pressure medicine recall, I had to call and let them know to call their patients. He ended up switching her and she ended up in the hospital, because he did not monitor her as he was supposed. He denied my mother of her medication that she is supposed to take everyday. There is a high turn around with staff, so people you would see for appointments one month won't be there the next time you go. It took them almost a week to get the results of the blood work back to my mom and we couldn't get in touch with the actual doctor. They didn't even call when they had the results we had to keep calling them and asking if they were ready. My mom was also not prescribed anything for an infection they said she had but we couldn't ask for a prescription bc the doctor was on vacation or something. And the phone is a dead end when trying to contact them. We were on hold for 10 minutes and then it just sent us to voicemail. Left a voicemail and no one got back to us. i have been a patient at Doctor's FIrst for over 10 years. Dr. Malik is a doctor that seems to care about his patients and listens to their concerns. I was seeing a physician Assistant that I really liked and had a good repor with but she left the practice. I was "assigned " a new PA. Our first encounter did not go well, second was better but the third time was the charm. I have never been treated with such disregard about MY Health care in many years. Molly comes in with her mind made up and if she decides it's something she does not believe in or simply does not want to do, she does not listen to the patient. My most recent ( and last) vist with her, she refused to fill out FMLA paperwork for an illness that I have been covered for many years and no other doctor in that practice ever had an issue filling it out. My first visit she told me that she did not prescribe a certain medication ( which I understand) and that I could feel free to go somewhere else. She doesn't discuss it and dismisses you. I thought this was a let's get used to each other moment but today sealed the deal. Learn to respect your patients or I am sure my review won't be that last that reads like this. This morning I had an appointment with Dr. Malik after having ear pain for a couple of days. This was my first visit to this clinic as my old doctor stopped practicing. My first impression of the office wasnt a bad one.. It's a clean office in a nice building. While waiting to be called back I was turned off to hear the front desk staff talking negatively about a patient that had just called. It was at that moment I realized I was having second thoughts about Doctors First. When I was called back to an exam room a young woman came in to check my vitals and weight. Shortly after another young woman came in to do an exam on my ears & throat. Not once did I actually see Dr. Malik, whom I had an appointment with. Once the exam was complete I was told two prescriptions would be called into my pharmacy. After giving the pharmacy information to the front desk, and confirming they had faxed the prescriptions, I drove to CVS to pick up my medication. Of course they hadn't received anything from Dr. Maliks office. Pretty frustrating. While standing in the pharmacy I called Dr. Maliks office, and of course, they were closed for an hour lunch. While listening to the automated answering machine I pressed the option to speak with a nurse, hoping they would be able to call in my prescription. A woman answered and told me I would need to call back after their lunch break. I asked if anyone could help resolve the issue, and save me a trip back to the pharmacy as I wasn't going to wait at CVS for almost an hour. Again, she rudely responded that the office was closed. The office itself is modern and seems to be clean enough, which is why I rated it two stars. I won't be returning as I don't feel they met my expectations though. Although I WILL be checking my insurance claims as I'm interested to see how my exam gets billed. I'm curious to see the name of the physician rendering services as it certainly wasn't Dr. Malik. read more

Horrible I have been waiting for 2 weeks . I have sporadically called for 2 weeks and I keep being told someone will call me back . The reason I am calling was I went to see the doctor a new doctor and my disability paperwork was to be done two Fridays ago and it is not done . This is very important because I just got a letter it's due within 10 days and I have one more day left tomorrow again this office doesn't even have the courtesy to call me back or in 2 weeks cannot even take the time to treat me as a patient that is cared about . I will miss doctor adanasio and I will leave this office because of the disrespect not following through , and not caring . The name describes it all. I had just moved to Montgomery Village and had a terrible backache. Since I did not have a primary care physician yet, I called up Doctors First. Turns out the doctor wasn't available for six weeks, so I ended up with their PAC. She asked what was wrong, took my vitals and prescribed steroids without ever touching my back. They did not help at all and after a week, I found a new doctor. I called them that I didn't need their follow-up anymore. In spite of that, they called me twice and Dr.Malik even wrote me a letter regarding my "sick appointment." When the bill came, the had billed me for an extended office visit, while I was there for less than 10 minutes. No help for 149.50 ! The office staff is rude, ignoring me while singing to their song . Once I called back within two minutes and they had no idea who I was. Their behavior should have warned me. Extremely dissapointed in the "care" I received from this office and Dr. Malik. They cancelled on the same day as my appointment, I had to go out of town with no heart meds, no thyroid, they WOULD NOT FILL my basic meds, I have been on for years. Now I get a letter that they are dropping me- I DROP YOU. My advice is Find another office, you will NEVER SEE A REAL DR OR DR Malik- all kids- I am 55 and need a doctor who actually SEES HIS PATIENTS- not kids. Rude front desk, like TEENAGERS. READ THE REVIEWS- MANY UPSET people over the treatment in his offices. We pay to see a doctor, not college kids, and a DIFFERENT physician assistant EACH TIME! I needed a doctor's office in a pinch so of all places i checked Yelp. I got interested in this place cos of Micah P's review and since it is just up the road. I was feelin TERRIBLE, so not travelling far was good. The office staff was awesome. The lady at the front desk and the nursing staff were all really, really friendly. They apparantly handle walk ins AND regular patients, but the waiting room wasn't cramped, dirty, loud, and nobody rushed me. Dr. Malik, who I guess is the only doctor in the practice (?) is a nice guy, too. I didn't feel rushed by him, either, and felt like he took the time to check the things I needed checked. If they take long term patients I might pick these guys up as my new doctor's office in the area. EDIT: I've since returned. I don't know if she is new or what, but there is a new PA there who works with patients who took great care of my severe allergy issues. She listened, considered, did tests, and gave me a thought-out gamut of meds to tackle what was becoming a really unbearable allergy-laden fall season. She was even out doing literature research while the nurse tech was giving me breathing tests. A + I said in my original review I was considering these guys as my PCP, and I've since decided to go ahead with it. read more

My wife and I have been coming to Dr. Malik and this location for about a year now, and my experience yesterday prompts me to write this. I called in around noon regarding a sore throat and bad fever I'd had for a few days. The staff let me know the next appointment available was for 4:30 that day, but I felt so terrible I just went straight over to take my chances with walking in, fully prepared for a long wait. The staff was friendly and within 5 min of sitting down in their always pristine waiting room they called me back. I was nervous when I didn't see Dr. Malik (because he's great). However, a P.A. named Mia proved she is just as helpful. She got me set up with medicine that worked. I'd been feeling terrible and within 24 hours of walking in I feel great. Everyone we've interacted with there has been professional, helpful, and knowledgeable. I'd send anyone I cared about here. read more

I had a pretty good experience visiting this practice. First off--getting me to the doctor is like squeezing blood from a stone. I've got to be on my deathbed (Although now that I'm getting older I do take part in my work's annual blood testing to make sure i'm a-ok.) I went in because I was having enough pain in my shoulder it was interfering with life. I saw a PA named Zorina who was pretty easy going and seemed to care. She also didn't seem to pass judgement on me for not knowing why my shoulder was hurting. (My coworkers and friends/family have all said "Well there must have been something to cause this pain"..well I don't know, I lift and box. I played volleyball and squash for years). Nor did she pass judgement when I admitted I'd probably be pretty bad at follow up care options such as PT. The one lady at the front desk was a little short with me, but I don't really see it as rude. Some people don't have a warm fuzzy personality. She seems efficient and as long as she's doing her job appropriately I don't mind. read more
