The air tube fell on a log and rolled within inches of the glass, I contacted the company immediately with photos. The owner admitted the technician had been making "a few mistakes recently," yet the situation was downplayed. Ultimately I had to fix it myself because I couldn't wait in freezing conditions and risk further damage. Their idea of "making it right"? A $100 coupon for a future service. After the disruption and the negligence, I'm not trusting them in my home again--so a coupon is meaningless. What really sealed it: The owner's response was condescending and dismissive, telling me I "blew this way out of proportion" and that my understanding was "flawed," instead of taking accountability for a simple but critical failure to reassemble equipment correctly. I opted to proceed with replacing only the damaged section as per the insurance scope, which they agreed to do for $4,000 via text. I paid a 50% deposit, and a few weeks later, on December 11, 2024, a crew arrived to perform the work. Notably, none of the individuals I had previously interacted with were present. Shortly after the crew completed the work, and based on the assumption that the agreed-upon work was completed, I paid the remaining balance. In February 2025, a subsequent windstorm resulted in shingles being blown off again. A new insurance inspection revealed significant issues: only approximately one-quarter of the roof had been replaced, and 3-tab shingles, not the architectural shingles I had assumed, were used. The adjuster also indicated improper installation. I contacted Southern Classic Roofing via email, expressing my concerns regarding the discrepancy between the work done and the agreed-upon scope and price. I emphasized feeling misled and requested a refund. A representative from Southern Classic Roofing responded, disputing the claim of improper installation. After further communication and another inspection by a representative, they agreed to return and replace the missing shingles and apply additional adhesive to other loose shingles. Nearly a month has passed, and this work has not been completed. While I appreciate the initial promptness in addressing the hurricane damage, I am ultimately dissatisfied with the quality of communication and the execution of the work. The discrepancy between the agreed-upon scope, the actual work performed, the materials used, the premature payment of the remaining balance, and the lack of transparency regarding the wood repairs has led to significant frustration. As a first time home owner, I do understand there is a learning curve, but I feel a more open line of communication would have prevented a lot of the issues I have encountered. I am now in the process of hiring another roofing contractor to replace the entire roof. My primary complaint is the lack of clear and consistent communication. I (stupidly) gave them a 50% deposit to start. They started 7 days after the scheduled start date, which would not have been a problem but they would text every day and say they would be here tomorrow. They were very sloppy, left tools, trash, food wrappers, boots, and shirts strewn about the property. I even had to loan them tools.(which were left outside in the rain). I could have dealt with all of that if the final product was decent. This is the worst concrete job I have ever seen! I am embarrassed for anyone to see it. They did not do what they were contracted to do. They were supposed to even out where the garage met the driveway by cutting a straight line with their concrete saw...when it was time to pour they said their saw was broken. They had issues with the concrete company and held us hostage when the last concrete truck came... they said the driver would not pour the concrete unless we paid him 1800.00. We felt we had to pay otherwise we would have a 10'x15' area without concrete. Once the final truck off loaded the concrete, Malaki (the owner) said they just had a little clean up to do and they would return the following day to clean up and cut the expansion lines. He wanted another payment of 6500.00 to pay his grandfather and uncle and his partner Gray. I gave him the 6500.00 since he said the wet concrete would level out and they would return the next day. I never saw him again. I texted and called him on numerous occasions... once again nothing but lies. They never returned. I had to pay someone to finish what they could not, which was removing the form boards, piles of concrete in the yard and around the driveway and the metal posts that held the boards in place and lots of trash. I gave them ample opportunities to make this right. They chose not to. The driveway is cracking, has large ridges, bumps all over, in lots of areas you can see stones, divots, and tool marks. Water puddles in many places. Worse job I have ever seen. At this point the entire driveway has to be torn up and redone based on an engineers report. If they made the effort to try and fix their mistakes by using a grinder to smooth out the many many perfections and cut the necessary expansion joints I would have thought at least they tried to remedy the situation.
