I quickly realized that not all skin folk is kin folk OR the Doctor deeply lacks "bed side" care. He was over an hour behind on his schedule, with no apology or asking for grace. He had zero casual conversation as I was a first time patient, not even introducing himself, just did his thing and left the room. I could have gotten better care from Target Optical from a random eye doctor or even used Warby Parker app to get better patient care. Recommend you do the same if you are thinking of this doctor.

I tried to call and could not get anybody on the phone to make the payment. Dr Cotheran is good but the conglomerate of Eye Instiutute offers terrible service with administrative related. I was picking out my first pair of glasses and was pleased with the service I received from the woman in charge of the glasses! She was so kind and honest with what fit my face and which looked the best -- I honestly had fun!! That's the only positive thing I can say about this location. I inquired about contacts and was unaware I had to be fitting for them as it was my first eye appt ever and I put on my appt that I wanted glasses and contacts. Alexa chimed in and raised her voice at me saying "well you're supposed to ask as you do at any appointment" to which I responded "when I get blood work done I don't double check they took the tubes they needed as they should be able to read a chart". She then was looking at my account and tells the other receptionist "she also left the st. pete location without paying" to which AGAIN I turned around and had to address her. I said "I asked if there was a co-pay and was told there wasn't. I chose that location through my eye med plan because of it but still double checked". She told me I was wrong and that the st. pete location didn't know what they were talking about and said "that's st. pete for ya". I said okay I will pay the $10 I don't care just so she would stop yelling at me. Not only are you being RUDE to me and yelling at me when none of this was MY fault but you are now being UNPROFESSIONAL and putting another location down. I sat in the glasses section chair and was so mad I started crying. I went back to St. Pete to get fitted for contacts and they were all sooo nice to me. I spoke with the office manager about my situation and she verified I do not have a $10 co pay. I even pulled up my insurance and also see it's a $0 co pay. So next time you want to yell at someone and act like you're above everyone else, maybe you get YOUR facts straight. A older gentleman also came in while I was sitting there and she raised her voice at him! I called back about two weeks after this about the glasses I picked out and I can hear Alexa in the background laughing up a storm. She then proceeded to tell the lady in charge of the glasses that it's a trail contact and the prescription isn't finalized yet. She told her "that's not my job" and to "go tell her she needs to do it" not knowing I could hear her. Alexa should be fired with her lack of customer service skills on MULTIPLE OCCASIONS

They told me they would be ready in 14 days. That came and went and I tried to call them, it went to voicemail. So I drove there and asked for my new glasses. The lady went back and was gone for about 10 min. She was talking in low hushes to other staff and looking in other offices during this time. She finally came back and told me that my glasses didn't pass some final check and weren't ready. I asked when they would be, she said she didn't know. She then checked my phone number and I told her that was correct but why didn't anyone call me to tell me of this delay? She didn't have an answer. I…read moreunderstand that prices increase over time, but at this point it honestly feels like price gouging. I've purchased the exact same frames from this office for the past three times, every other year. The last two years, the front desk staff mis-ordered my frames. Both times, I had to make an extra trip just to discover the mistake. Instead of taking responsibility, they acted like it was somehow my fault -- even though it's the same frames I order every time. Come on. Let's talk about pricing. In 2023, my total was: Frames: $210 Lenses: $60 Exam: $60 Total: $330 Fast forward to December 2025: Frames: $330 (same frames) Lenses: $100 Exam: $99 That's a massive jump in just two years. When I went to pick up my glasses (after waiting for them to come in), I questioned the pricing because I genuinely thought it might be a mistake. I was then told that since I "upgraded" after the first mis-order, I actually owe them more money. What?? The front desk told me the suggested retail was $264 and that they mark that up -- somehow that becomes over $330. Meanwhile, the suggested retail on the original frames is $227, which means they're marking them up over 45%. Just wow. I chose to leave without causing a scene, but the combination of repeated ordering errors, dismissive customer service, and dramatic price increases is unacceptable. Patients deserve accountability, transparency, and fair pricing. Unfortunately, I experienced none of that here. I will be taking my business elsewhere
