Been here a few times. First time it was nice, a gentlemen was working the counter and he was friendly. Second time I went I was charged 4x the price listed on the item and they refused the refund and would only give cash, this time it was a female and not the friendly cashier. This time I was walking up and the cashier was looking out the window giving very odd looks and begrudgingly said hello as we walked in. We went to check out and the cashier very rudely demanded my Id. Once they realized I was of age they checked me out. A customer behind us started telling my friend to pull up his pants but he ignored it, she proceeded to tell him again more annoyed. The cashier said don't start Lisa. I told Lisa how high should his pants be? She proceeded to stare with her mouth open as if she couldn't believe we responded to her slander. The cashier was more annoyed with us than the heckler. Overall an unbelievable experience and will certainly not return. Don't go here it's overpriced anyway. read more

Very racist experience. I was in line buying two bottle of wine. The woman behind the counter serviced a white female who was in front of me, advised the white female to be careful with the her bag of wine and thanked her for coming to her store. I was next in line, The woman behind counter asked me for my identification, I gladly showed it to her. She checked it and She did not say thank you or anything. I paid for my wine with my card and she handed me my receipt. I kindly said thank you when she handed me my receipt she did not say anything to me...the whole time!!!! Now I shouldn't have to say it but yes I'm a professional black male and the woman behind the counter is of Indian decent. I'm very disgusted how I was treated and will not be coming back there ever!!! I WILL BE PASSING THIS MESSAGE ALONG TO ALL MY FRIENDS NOT TO SHOP THERE. read more

I go there on occasion and can honestly say they treat you exactly how you treat them. If you're nice, they are nice. If you go in with an attitude, you get that back. So maybe treat people how you want to be treated. read more

Friendly, helpful staff gives a hometown vibe so essential to our community. Store is clean, well lit, easy to browse, has affordable products, and offers a wide selection for those seeking a tasting adventure. Plenty of other grocery items to compliment from limes to sodas and snacks. I can always get the help when needed and occasionally ask for recommendations for a dinner pairing. It's easy to strike up conversation even with other customers (like an episode of Cheers). A sample station is set up now & then to explore new products which is always hosted by a welcoming representative. read more

AWFUL TREATMENT! My husband went into this store earlier this week and purchased a single can of beer...we are both African American they are Indian...my husband came out of the store and got into the car and noticed the bag dripping due to a leak being in the can which he had not noticed when he purchased it...he immediately got out of the car went back in and told the gentleman the can was defective...the guy says "what do you want me to do about it" ...so my husband says he would like another can, the guy then says "you did it!" and walks from around the register and mumbles under his breath "lying mother******!"...as he goes to get another can...my husband was out done and needless to say very disgusted and offended...he took the can and got back in the car...this proprietor is the absolute worse ever...we will never go into this store again!! read more

Apparently alcohol regulations in Pennsylvania are meh, so getting alcohol out of state is always preferred. We pulled up to State Line and it looked pretty rough. But we went in and it turned out to be amazing! Such a good selection, and like others have said, it goes on forever! My friend spent time picking out wine and I immediately zeroed in on the beer. There's a little bar in the back and the guy working helped me orient myself. I ended up buying a bunch of local sours from Maryland and Delaware breweries. They also had a special of 20 percent off bottles of wine that are $20 or more for the month of August, so my friend got a great bargain on her purchase. Everyone is also really nice here! So don't judge a book by its cover. I will definitely swing by here again next time I'm in Maryland.

Since the previous reviewers were compelled to provide their ethnicity, I will do the same. I am a 49 yr old black male. I've been a loyal customer to Jim and G's for a couple of years now. NEVER had an issue with them. Jim is always friendly and helpful. We've convo'd over various issues, from family, to culture, to politics, etc. I don't see his wife as often in there, but if I do, she always greets me, if I don't beat her to it. They are not racists; that's just dumb and ridiculous. And no, I'm not some 'Uncle Tom' wino. I just know racism when I see it. They are not card carrying members! Bottom line - First State Liquors is a good place to get your booze supply on! read more

I LOVE First State Liquors. Both owners are extremely friendly and overall great people. I was there yesterday and when my daughters got out of the car we accidently locked the keys in the car (with my purse and cell phone). As I entered the store I told them about the incident and they right away called AAA for me and allowed me to use the store phone and even their personal cell phone to make some phone calls and solve the problem. As we were waiting to get back into the car they stood outside with me and the girls and even gave my kids a lollipop. I appreciate their kindness, and willingness to go out of their way. I will definitely be returning and love the owners. read more
