What appealed to us was the small class size, the sense of community that the school has and the fact my son could attend pre-K to grade 12 at the same campus. When talking to parents whose children do not attend DWA they are always surprised at the activities that my son partakes in. What other school has swimming 2 times a school year, skiing at the elementary level, Cooking class, Bring your parent to school day just to name a few. DWA is a fantastic school and I can not find the words to express how truly amazing the administration and teaching staff are. I would recommend this school to anyone who is interested in offering their children a superior education and school experience.

I attended from grade 2 - 12 and enjoyed every minute of it. The academic integrity of this school is above any other that I know of, and the teachers are incredibly passionate about their jobs. I wasn't a role model student, I needed a little bit more help than some, but the teachers would always put in the extra time to help me and to make sure that I understood the material. My colleagues that left MVA for another high school have often told me that the switch wasn't worth it because they were receiving a lower grade of education in trade of a bigger school with my more kids. If it weren't for the extra care and attention I received while I was attending school, I would likely not be studying for my B.Sc Psyc at UVic today. MVA helped build a solid foundation for my education, and as a result have opened many doors for me that may not have been available otherwise. Though I am bias in my opinion, obviously, it is only because I did go to the school for over a decade; I experienced first hand the quality and care that all the teachers (including the administration, as they often switch between teaching and managing) give to their students. If I could go back in time and choose differently, I wouldn't. I love this school, and if I have children in the future, MVA is my first choice. 5/5 - Would attend again

As an ESL student, I often needed extra help from the teachers due to my English level at the time, the teachers always stayed after school to assist me to go over the materials I needed help with. Because the class size was relatively small compared to public high schools, the teachers were able to ensure each one of their students was getting the best education they deserved. As an international student who came to Canada alone, I needed help not only with school but also with things in life in Calgary, i.e. finding a homestay family to stay with, extending my study permit and having someone there for me to talk to when I needed. I couldn't thank Mrs. P and Mrs S enough for all they've done for me throughout my journey here. They've gone above and beyond for what their responsibilities were as my high school principals. They took care of me like I was one of their children. My parents to this day still talk about them and thank them for taking such a good care of me. As cheesy as it may sound, MVA to me was not only my high school, but also my home. The help I received from MVA did not stop after I graduated from the school. After I graduated from MVA, I was accepted to University of Calgary. I was able to come back to school and asked the teachers to help me to go over my papers when I needed help. I graduated from the university 4 years later, and have been working for an oil and gas company since. Without the education and the help I received from MVA, I wouldn't be where I am today. Yelp only allows me to give 5 stars, I give MVA 1,000,000 stars!!

They also use this facility for Basketball training camps, tryouts and regular seasonal games. Holds a lot of players and can hold multiple events at the same time because of the size. A great set of bleachers for friends and parents to watch and has a large parking lot which makes it easy to drop off or stay and watch. Located at the Curry Barracks, which is under extensive renovations on the entire grounds area. New roads and buildings in the area so it's a bit confusing to locate if it's your first time.

Our older children attended an AMI accredited private Montessori program and we can honestly say that Kidsmart is superior in many ways! If you are planning the private school route for elementary, your child might be required to write the Bracken Assessment. Mrs. M thoroughly prepares each child with the tools and knowledge to ace this assessment. My daughter is well ahead of where she needs to be and was accepted into a high ranking private school (with a huge waiting list) for September 2016 all because she scored in the advanced range on the Bracken Assessment. We owe it all to Mrs. M and her fantastic assistant Ms. Angie. If you would like your child to be reading by the time they finish pre-school and to have important critical thinking skills and so much more, you must consider Mrs. M's program.

I had a very poor experience with Atlas. My son was enrolled in preschool here and attended about a…read moremonth's worth of classes. I was a subsidy candidate, and even though my preschool subsidy would have been approved to cover a portion of our fees, I was discriminated against for my financial status. The owner, Helen expelled my son with no valid reasons, refused to meet with me to discuss her decision, and said it didn't matter because I "could not afford them anyway." I gave her numerous opportunities to discuss her decision with me and meet with me in person. She declined them all and ultimately ghosted me on my calls and texts. Both she and the head principle had a disrespectful attitude towards me and I felt that they really spoke down to me, as if they felt they were better than me. They condescended to me and made a huge deal of me not dropping my child off at the right door, even though there had never been a handbook or form or really anything to explain such rules in advance. As a cautious parent sending my child to school for the first time ever, this treatment doesn't exactly inspire trust in this establishment. There are so many preschools in the city; find one that doesn't discriminate or talk down to the parents - the very people keeping them in business as a private school!

My kids & I are greeted each morning with a genuine welcome and breakfast which is a relief as I'm always rushed to get to work. When I arrive to pick them up, I am personally told how they were through the day, something special they enjoyed doing , even if it was how much they loved their lunch.(Salmon rice pilaf & pancake Friday's are their favourites ! ) My toddlers face is always freshly washed & a fresh diaper change for the drive home. My older daughter is always excited to show & tell me about new Montessori activities, and seems to be learning way more than her cousins of same age. Thank you ladies for the wonderful care you provide. Can't wait for her to start kindergarten with you in Sept to give me one more year of assurance that I am leaving them in safe hands before starting Elementary.
