The family and friends had urged me to try out this place, which has made quite a splash in Murfreesboro. In brief, this chain has fine recipes (although too much avocado and sour cream in too many dishes) and the food tasted well. But it was lukewarm and served in shifts--one order came out then another and after prompting the third. That the order of bacon came out last tells you everything. Kitchen service is mediocre to the I don't give a damn level. Too bad because the upfront service was excellent. They even knocked 20% off the tab to make up for the kitchen. But the damage was done: who wants a cold breakfast? It was not particularly busy--a weekday towards mid-morning. You wonder what the deal was that day? This place was delicious. Very cute farm-y interior. The barbacoa quesadilla special was to die for, my husband would give it six stars if he could. Brioche French toast for my kids was awesome. The fish tacos from the standard menu were only slightly less amazing than the barbacoa quesadilla, so, in short, amazing. I've eaten at a First Watch in the Dallas area so I had no idea they have in Tennessee too. My husband's side of the family, husband, baby and I ate here the day after Christmas. Luckily my mom in law made reservations because by the time we arrived there were many parties waiting for tables. We got seated after a little bit and had a nice waitress. She was really good at making sure all of us had refreshments right away. Food was good here. I got a skillet and it was so tasty. So much flavor! If I come back to Tennessee, which I will since family lives here, I would consider coming back just for the service and food alone. read more

Had the Bacado, egg white style, with the leafy greens and a side of the million dollar bacon. Tasty, so tasty I forgot to snap a pic. My wife and I LOVE this place. When I went to write this review, I thought I was updating a previous review, but am glad I get to brag on them. I've been there several times and tried many dishes. In this review, I will mention the dishes I've tried and what I liked about them. Never had a bad meal here after about six visits. It would be a favorite spot, but they get busy Sunday mornings and my schedule does not allow for a stop during the week. Pancakes in the place are HUGE. One is sufficient. I've tried three so far and they all have been wonderfully new flavor profiles. The lemon had a wonderful flavor and was quite light. Carrot cake pancakes are unique, but the flavor was genuine to expectations with appropriately sized carrot bits. For the holidays they have a cinnamon crunch that is to die for. The cinnamon was not overpowering and gave a great flavor. Also for the holidays, there is an offering of donut holes. While the pastry is not extraordinary, the three dipping sauces are so good, we brought the left overs home and enjoyed them again. Eggs are their specialty. Their cookbook describes a unique way of cooking eggs and I have tried that technique at home. Chefs undergo training in how to properly flip the eggs in the pan when done on one side. Once, I ordered my eggs over easy. When served, the lady was so apologetic that one of the yolks broke and leaked a little. While I did no not object, they immediately brought out a replacement portion. "Million Dollar Bacon" is served with most dishes and is wonderful. A southern staple, grits, is on the menu and are probably the best I've ever eaten. The texture was exactly between too runny and too thick. Buttered grits have a golden color so rich, I thought they mistakenly gave me cheese grits. They had FLAVOR and a wonderful corn taste. Locally supplied coffee from Columbia TN is great and almost worth the trip itself. Other reviews call the prices high, but in my mind, you get what you pay for. read more

While my family and I were traveling to get away from Hurricane Irma, we decided to try this place! I'm newly vegetarian, so I needed a place that would nourish my body and give me choices. First Watch was just that!!! The portion sizes are enough to feed you two times!! I had the Floridian French toast (figures) with a side of seasoned potatoes and scrambled eggs with cheese. The French toast had bananas, kiwi and strawberries!! When they serve you the syrup, they serve it warm, which is the perfect topping for French toast! The potatoes were crispy and soft and the eggs were cooked just right. I also tried the new gin we carrot drink on the menu, it wasn't my favorite, but my kids loved it!! They finished it for me. God awful experience. Ordered and waited 30 minutes for food. However only three of the 8 people's food arrived. After waiting 30 minutes we were told that some of the orders couldn't be processed because they were out of biscuits. How do you make us wait 30 min to tell us you were out of biscuits??? Then we ordered chocolate chip pancakes and they all came out plain. Waitress apologized and said she didn't know what was going on. Would be different if they were slammed but heard a staff member walk out from the back and say "I'm so bored". Complete disorganization and will not be back. This restaurant had fairly slow service but I think that is due to the lack of staffing seen throughout the industry. I had only been to a First Watch once before, several years ago. My recollection is that it was NOT a good experince. However, not the case for this location at all! I scheduled a time to meet with an adviser/friend for breakfast one Saturday morning. She had arrived early and was able to snag us a table with minimal wait. By the time I arrived, I noticed how incredibly busy they were. Despite so many patrons, our service was never lacking. I was thoroughly impressed with the attentiveness our server gave us throughout the meal. (I wish I could remember her name to give her proper kudos!) I also liked how I didn't feel as though we had to "yell" over the crowd of people just to hear one another. That is harder to find in a restaurant these days than not. I ordered the Avocado Toast which is a thick-cut whole grain toast topped with smashed avocado, olive oil, lemon and sea salt. It's served with two eggs, which I order scrambled instead of basted. I was feeling wild, so I also ordered a side of bacon. Y'all, it was SO GOOD! I ate every bite -- and it was a LOT of food! We normally enjoy coming here but man was service, food, and the wait our server had us eating to order, get our drinks was ridiculous. My sisters plate was SUPER greasy, my wife's plate had stuff on it that's she didn't want. So they had to go back and get that fixed, which took forever. We ordered hot chocolate and that hot chocolate was not hot chocolate. My sister then got her order back and it was STILL greasy! We had to take the plate to the kitchen ourselves. I wish they had some bloody Mary's or something since they are brunch, but whatever they have a pretty good menu and the prices are a tad high, but I'm assuming it's because the quality of the food is so high. My wife and I went here for the first time on a Tuesday morning during "brunch time". It was busy and yet we were seated immediately. Our server took great care of us. She gave us recommendations on what was popular or what she thought my wife would like based on her preferences. We ordered and less than 5 minutes later our food was brought to us. The Mrs and I both commented on how surprisingly fast our orders were on our table. I had the Belgian Waffle, Fried Eggs (over easy) and Bacon. It was simply perfect! My wife had turkey sausage gravy and biscuits, with fried eggs and potatoes. Neither one of us particularly cared for the biscuits and gravy. However, the fried potatoes were on point! Great menu here, far above your basic breakfast spot. Creative menus options with a unique spin, excellent ingredients and great preparation. The outside seating is a nice touch and made for a extra special meal on a nice fall morning after our walk at the battlefield. I had the salmon Benedict which was excellent but I'd request they add capers next time, and my wife had a standard Benedict made with gluten free toast which she really enjoyed.
