Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, it absolutely did! I ordered the vegetarian curry, which was almost $20 from the menu. Expecting different vegetables, I was treated to a fine assortment of bamboo shoots, water, chestnuts, frozen broccoli, and that was it. Being a supposedly tie style curry, it was expected to have a coconut flavor however, this had some sort of curdled/sour/nauseating watery sauce to it. The rice was crunchy. We love ordering from here. Sometimes we choose to dine in. Love their green tea and boba tea. Their broccoli and garlic sauce I adore! The short answer is: It's overpriced for being just ok. My girlfriend and I are visiting family and we all decided to go out to dinner. The inside is pretty small but it had plenty of room for the six of us. The decor is pretty dated and nothing to write home about. My wife and I live in Ligonier, and regularly eat takeout from First Wok. It is consistently high quality, tasty, and the proprietors are very kind. The food is always ready on time. Our most frequent choices are moo shu pork, cold sesame noodles, hot and sour soup, and fried dumplings, all of which are excellent. This restaurant is a solid asset in an area that otherwise has little decent asian food. (But do visit Tokyo in Latrobe!) My wife and I know good food: we lived in Pittsburgh for decades, we've traveled a lot, and we take our food seriously. First Wok isn't a destination restaurant, but it is a reliable local staple. As I read some of the very negative reviews, I have to believe that either they utterly lack perspective or they had some ax to grind. read more

Not only is this the best Asian restaurant in Ligonier, it may be the best In Westmoreland County. Small restaurant but huge menu. Chinese, Japanese or Thai, all done really well. Don't miss the Thai Summer Rolls appetizer. Fresh, delicious and a killer dipping sauce make this a great starter. Hot and Sour soup is really tasty too if you want to go Chinese. Large portions on the entrees make the prices a value. We've ordered both from the Chinese and the Thai offerings and always have been pleased. Unfortunately last night they were out of eggplant so I couldn't get the Thai eggplant dish I was hungry for. But the Thai Chicken Basil was a winner too. Service is quick and friendly. I am giving it 4 stars because it wasn't amazing or "wowing" like I assumed it to be. Chinese, Japanese, sushi and Thai all served under one garden filled roof. The atmosphere was quite tacky and outdated the food was served quickly! It was a over priced though. $13 for chicken and broccoli and no option to get a smaller portion wasn't cool. I wish I had read the reviews before going in...I gave it 2 stars. One for the food, and one for the staff. They weren't friendly, barely even said hi when we came in (party of 2). We sat for about 5-7 minutes before anyone came to get our drink order. We were the only ones there at this time. We placed our order and the food came out rather quickly. I got the Jungle Curry and I've definitely had better. This place was small and had dusty decor throughout. I had to salt the food, and added a small amount of pepper to give it some decent flavor. Once we finished, the waitress came over and handed us our bill...$9 more than what it should've been. I told the lady about it and her response was "Yeah, that was the lunch menu, I'm so sorry, these are the dinner prices..." ok...well, I've never been here before so I didn't know that. It didn't say lunch anywhere except the back where it had many other (better) options, but because it said "Lunch" only on the back, I assumed it meant we couldn't order from that side. So, we opted for what was on the inside of the menu. She literally wanted to argue with me about it, but because it was the price of another meal, I wasn't backing down. She caved and gave me the prices that was listed on the menu, I paid and walked out. She didn't acknowledge us walking out or anything. I have to admit...we read the poor reviews prior to ordering from this place, but being the only chinese place around and craving chinese we decided to give it a go. Well just like most of the reviews said we were pretty disappointed. For started we thought it was pretty overpriced specially for how crappy the food was. We ordered take out for lunch and ordering the following; Fried Dumplings: These by far the worst. I have never seen these packaged the way they were. I am used to getting them in our local spot back home which I guess we are spoiled, they pack it in a round or rectangle large container so the dumplings aren't piled on top of each other and the bottoms are crisp and the top of the container is vented. This container was a typical fried rice container and they were all piled on top of each other. One bite was all we could manage. You bit into these and the oil just oozed out, it was really gross. Not to mention for fried dumpling they were really soggy and gummy. Not good at all. General Tso's Chicken: This wasn't absolutely horrible, but definitely not good. The sauce had a very strange flavor, like nothing I have ever tasted before(and not in a good way). I want to say it was like a sweet/sour/burnt and then a slight tart flavor as in tart/sour as if something wasn't good in it(like expired or something). It was really a strange flavor. It had a slight spiciness, and the pieces of chicken were really large, slightly crispy. This sauce was on the oily side. Fried Rice: I'm not sure I would call it fried rice. It was more like steamed rice, with a little bit of veggie and egg thrown in it. And again very oily. One good note the rice was cooked well it wasn't mushy, but that's all it had going for it. Thai Mei Fun: This was honestly the only good thing in the order. It was not great, but it was good. It had pork and baby shrimp in it. The pork was definitely the lowest cut of pork that was way too much cartilage, but otherwise it was pretty decent. It was rice noodles, baby shrimp, pork, cilantro, sweet and light spicy sauce, and crushed peanuts. Again though way over priced. It was about $14. Total this order was around $50 which I thought was ridiculous. Our local spot you could get all this for lunch plus free spring rolls and lunch salads for $30 and the quality would be top notch. I would say you are better off driving the hour into the city of Pittsburgh and getting some real chinese/thai food. For those of you who are going to try it, although we did not try their sushi, we heard numerous neighbors who did and had awful food poisoning, so try at your own risk! read more

I went to this Chinese restaraunt for craving of Chinese. Being that it is the only Chinese in the area, I tried it out. Needless to say horrible service and portion sizes, way overpriced. My fiancé and I decided to stop here for lunch from the moment we walked in i should have listen to my gut and went somewhere else. Soon as we walk in no one was in site. We final got seated started looking over the menu. $15.95 for sesame chicken and white rice?! Thought thats was very price, got served chips and sweet sauce which was the only good thing I had. The food was out in a minimum of 3 minutes subway takes longer than that. The chicken was very stringy, over cooked and the breading on the chicken was mush. My fiancé ordered Hawaiian chicken served with vegetables, pineapples, oranges. The chicken was the same over cooked and mush and the vegetables were cold as well as the the pineapples and oranges. Also to be refilled with a pitcher that didn't look like it's been clean, I find it appalling to pay $33 for what and to severed. This restaurant sends out really cool vibes. The decor is welcoming, the staff is very helpful and friendly. Their sushi is amazing; I have had sushi from many different places out in Philadelphia, and this place was just as good! Although it is a small establishment, they really put effort into their food. I had the spicy salmon roll and the spicy tuna roll and they were delicious! (Their spicy sauce is SO spicy though, so definitely be prepared; still so good, though!) It was mostly breading, One super small shrimp and 4 other pieces of other unidentifiable meat in a WAY WAY too sweet sauce. Hot & Sour soup was just ok. The first few years they were open I was a regular, 2-3 times a month. Then they seemed to get a bit inconsistent, in fact due to the last couple of times I hadn't been there in six or eight months but sometimes you just gotta have some Chinese food, so I broke down and ordered some to go this evening. What a disappointment!!! Ordered Gen Tso's pork which was 80% batter and the Lo Mien was overcooked to the point the noodles were mushy and the pork was all on top instead of mixed in with the noodles giving the appearance of a lot of meat. I ordered out quite a few times, to get mediocre sushi or a lunch special that was substituted with celery or broccoli stems for veggies. I know of two people who have had terrible food poisoning from the sushi here. The won ton soup is decent, though. It is hit or miss, honestly. i paid 51$ for what i think wasn't even worth 20. the egg rolls are $2.25 apiece and they are half as long as a normal egg roll you would see at your average 8.50 all you can eat chinese buffet. probably 2in, literally... eating there most certainly makes anyone appreciate the average chinese buffet. im sick i spent what i did for such poor quality and small amounts. there was even fake seaweed on top the sushi which was also extremely over priced for the size. new city buffet in greensburg blows this place out of the water with their quality and its all you can eat for under 10$ or fill up a tray for same price, 4 egg rolls here cost what new city buffet charges for everything and their egg rolls are bigger an better. i wouldn't recommend it for the price. i wish i could comprehend why this place charges so much cause its not even good or big portions. thats just my opinion, and ive ate chinese for years in many states while in the service and this definitely most expensive and probably the worse read more

The restaurant is small and the decor is more Italian than Chinese. I think it is very over priced. I got general tsos, fried rice, and wonton soup. The soup was amazing.
