Super friendly service -- and we'll drive all the way to Enfield for takeout as they are one of the few past 10pm Chinese/Thai take-out restaurants in the area. They apparently also deliver (we see their delivery car at the restaurant) in the Enfield area. As far as food, they have excellent lo mein, one of the better Kung Pao dishes I've had in CT, and very tasty BBQ pork. I've never been a big fan of Chinese restaurants with the big menus and large picture-menus in the wall, but First Wik is s definite exception to the rule. I'm half Chinese, and I love just about every dish I'd had at First Wok! Ample parking, sodas and other drinks in their stand-up cooler are nice and cold, and did I mention the friendly service? Best chinese food in the area. Everything is always hot and fresh. The flavor's/spices always right on the money. If you ask for something spicy you get spicy.. not like the other places around. The family owned/operated restaurant sits next door to a Japanese Hibachi restaurant and has been a local favorite for years. The chicken Pad Tai, and Amazing Chicken dishes are jus two of my favorites. No matter if you eat in or take out, be prepared to get TWO meals worth of food. This was a friend's recommendation and I glad I went with it! Chengs is the popular Chinese in Enfield, but it has not hit me great lately. I went on my friends suggestion and decided to try something new. They are located in Stateline Plaza ( Next to Home Depot)- easy to find. Walked in to order and I was shocked on how fantastic the prices were. I ordered Broccoli with Garlic Sauce extra spicy and Vegetable Lo-Mein extra spicy. I was in for the night at an airport hotel and selected this place for delivery. My expectations were pretty low, but still I was disappointed. About the only positive thing I can say about this place is that my order arrived hot. The "special" soup consisted of a salty chicken broth with a few pieces of chicken and some pea pods. Mostly circles of rubbery surimi "crab" legs. The steamed pork dumplings had thick dough and mysterious reddish brown meat. Lo mein, which is usually pretty hard to mess up, was greasy and overcooked, I suspect from multiple reheatings. This used to be my go to place but tonight's experience has changed that! I ordered fried dumplings and a spare rib chicken meal. The dumplings were so soggy and tasted burnt.... everything tasted burnt. I couldn't bite through the chicken it was dried and crispy under the breading. It was absolutely inedible. When I called to see what we could do they said that's the way it's supposed to be! If that's the case they can keep it..... I lost money but they lost a customer. read more

My wife and I were looking for some good Chinese food for lunch. Checked out Yelp and ended up at First Wok. We did a double take when we arrived...we didn't realize it was primarily a take-out restaurant with only a couple tables. Based solely on the Yelp reviews we decided to give it a try anyway. Service was fast and very friendly. We ordered a Pu Pu Platter for two ($8.95) which includes 2 egg rolls, 2 beef teriyaki, 2 bar-b-q spare ribs, 2 fried shrimp, 2 chicken wings and 2 crab rangoon and added the Large House Special Lo Mein ($7.25). After placing the order we heard a conversation between two people I believe are the husband and wife owners. I don't speak the language so I didn't know what was being said until I started writing this review. You see I copy and pasted the items that come with the Pu Pu Platter from their online menu and that's when I realized we didn't get any ribs! We did get some tasty Chicken Fingers instead. We'll have to go back for the ribs someday! The food was cooked to perfection...no soggy dough in the fried items, the beef was tender and flavorful and the Crab Rangoon was crispy on the outside and wonderfully creamy on the inside. The Chicken Wings looked like they came off a small turkey. The skin was cooked to a crisp golden brown and the meat was deliciously tender and hot. Our Lo Mein noodles were also cooked and flavored perfectly and dish was loaded with shrimp, chicken, beef, pork and lots of fresh crisp veggies. The portions were extremely generous. So much so that we had to take some home! When I got up from my seat one of the children jumped to his feet arms extended..."would you like that packed to go" he asked very politely. Yes was my response and he jumped to the task with a little last minute help from mom. Not much ambiance, we didn't get our ribs...why a 5 Star rating? The people were wonderfully attentive, the food was fantastic and the price was very affordable. We live 45 minutes away...but we're both anxious to return! 3 years later.... I haven't ordered Chinese in awhile, but decided to get some last week. I must say, I was highly disappointed. The chicken seemed overcooked with little sauce. The pork fried rice was greasy and not very good. The only good thing was the egg roll. I was very disappointed and honestly didn't even want to finish it. Let me first say, the food taste great! I been coming here for almost 10 years. The owner whose a lady became close to my mother since we were a regular customer. Well the past year and a half I became a vegetarian and cut down eating-out, and so happens today my boyfriend and I decided to go out and order Vegetable Fried Rice and General Tso Tofu. Nothing different, food looked and smelled great, as soon as I was paying for my food I SAW something disturbing. The person working there (young Asian male) whose the cooker, seemed like he was seasoning shrimp in a bowl DROPPED some on the floor and what happen next was disgusting.. he picked them back up and threw it back on the bowl! He continue seasoning it and dropped some more the 2nd time which by then the owner's husband saw me and my boyfriend looking at what the cooker was doing. The owners's husband seemed to be telling the cooker in their language to throw what he dropped (only the 2nd time) to the garbage. He did. But the first time he dropped shrimps on the floor he continue cooking them. I COULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT I WAS SEEING, IT HAPPENED IN THE MATTER OF SECONDS! The owner's husband seemed like he didnt care at all but "pretended" to care since my boyfriend and I were there! I wonder what else they may have dropped or done to their food! Absolutely terrible! I ordered from here for pickup... a lunch platter that costs $5.45 and a pu pu platter for 2 costing $16.00. My boyfriend picked it up and was shocked that the cost was suddenly $30.00. I drove down to the restaurant to meet him and opened the food to discover that my order was completely wrong. The woman who was running the place proceeded to upcharge us for everything we actually did order and was making it very clear that we wouldn't receive any money back, She proceeded to put her hands into our food order then throw it back in the fryer behind her and threw our ACTUAL order at us yelling in Chinese and English, then proceeded to tell us "I don't need your business im very busy" when we had been nothing but cordial and polite. We did not receive a receipt because she told us they don't have a system for that, and she made change out of her pocket. Oh, and the food is awful. :( read more
