Peking is close by to home and great in a pinch. It won't be memorable but it's more than acceptable. Egg rolls and homemade duck sauce are as good as anywhere else. The place has some good things going for it. The food isn't greasy. Folks are friendly. Small seating area inside but it's cozy. Maybe a little chilly on my last visit a week ago. Although this isn't the "Best" Chinese I've ever had....I've frequented Peking often and will continue to do so when I can't get to my favorite spot. Peking Restaurant has a lot going for it - spotlessly clean, cozy dining room, relatively fast service. It's often our go-to Chinese restaurant in Enfield, especially when we're ordering a massive load of appetizers for a dim sum type of dinner. Their spring rolls are awesome (and made fresh in their own kitchen, not brought in from some frozen commissary service.) Dumplings and pot stickers are top-notch, as are the char siu ribs, fried rice, and teriyaki beef strips. Scallion pancakes are okay, but a little tougher than the flaky, crispy/chewy texture they ideally have. They have perhaps the best won ton soup of any Chinese place in the area, and the chicken wings are a meal in themselves. We've never been disappointed with the simpler meals here, like beef, chicken, and pork with vegetables, or lo mein. The flavors and seasoning are great, and the portions are generous. Then why only 4 stars when I seem so pleased with them? They totally drop the ball on more complex meals. The Moo Shu is a great example: it should have cabbage, a touch of meat, black fungus, and lily blossoms as a base, with perhaps other ingredients added as the chef desires. But the past couple times I've ordered pork Mu Shu (my personal favorite dish) I've gotten some pork, a few thinly sliced standard mushrooms, and a massive load of cabbage. Rather disappointing. So, we stick to the many, many menu items we know are fantastic and we're almost always happy and satisfied. Bit of a mixed review, but still I would recommend this place without hesitation. read more

Was so glad to find this Chinese restaurant! The place is clean, pleasant, small but plenty of space to sit down. The people are really nice. And I think it's funny (but cool) that they have a magazine rack full for your reading while you wait! Everything I've ordered has been very good and very fresh. Lots of peanuts in their peanut and beef dish... generous amounts of veggies. I want to try their crab rangoon and some other dishes. They have great lunch and dinner combo deals. My first time trying this place. We wound up here after working on Thanksgiving and were just happy someone was open on the holiday. But the warm service and delicious food and fresh vegetables were a welcome treat. I asked what chicken dishes had white meat, she said "all of them, I don't use dark meat here". The menu had unique items too, like bourbon chicken and a mustard chicken. The hot & sour soup was great, egg rolls were huge, and the broccoli didn't have that typical taste like it had been using water that was reused all day. And very clean and well lit inside. Ordered dinner for the family tonight because there was no way in hell I was cooking. Bought General Tso Chicken, Chicken & Broccoli and Chicken Teriyaki. The GTC tasted old and dry as though they just put sauce on it to warm it up. The Chicken & Broccoli (or just broccoli with 5 slivers of chicken in it) was "squishy" and swimming in the sauce. Then we got to the Teriyaki.....oh...oh the teriyaki...::sigh:: it was dry. The chicken itself was so unbelievably dry that it was completely stuck to the stick...no ounce of moisture in that dish whatsoever. Lastly, the egg rolls...wow. Cut them in half and I was actually able to *squeeze* out the oil on to my plate - there was a LOT and believe me, it reflected itself in the taste of the food. Defiantly will not be ordering from this place again. If you're FROM Enfield, stick to your gut and go to Chengs Garden. read more

The dumplings were really doughy and the sauce wasn't the same, just kind of harsh. I ordered from this place that is five minutes from my apartment. I was told the food (two entrees and one app) would be delivered in 40-45 minutes. An hour and five minutes later I called and was told the food was on its way. An hour and 20 minutes later I called and told the food was on its way. Finally the driver (who I saw circling my complex for 20 minutes, three people in one unmarked car so I wasn't sure if it was my delivery) called and said they "just left the restaurant." Absolutely ridiculous, we refused to accept the order. Why didn't they call when they were at the complex and ask where we were? We clearly stated our building number when ordering!! The driver texted us with excuses and said "the wait is an hour, they are busy!" Well, then tell me my wait is an hour twenty, and not 40 minutes. I needed Chinese for lunch today and wasn't familiar with the area. I found Peking Express. I got the L10 Lunch Special for $6.95. Boneless Ribs, Chicken Fingers, Eggroll and pork fried rice. I was pleasantly surprised. The portion was HUGE, the boneless ribs were thinner (the way I like them) and tender. Very tasty. The egg roll is ENORMOUS and oh so good. Normally a Jimmy Chen's in East Windsor customer, but I tried Peeking about 6 months ago for my first time with my Mom got the chicken lo mein combo & had them give me a spring roll & veggie fried rice (since I do not eat pork). It was lunch time so we were getting it to go. The lunch combo is under $6 which is great but they charged me for the spring roll & veggie rice I paid almost $10! Was not happy about that, and well the food was "ok" not great not horrible. So tonight my bf and I decided to order in Chinese so we went with Peeking again, figured I would play it safe and go with 2 of my favorites.. Crab Rangoon & beef teriyaki & my bf went with chicken egg foo young & the pork fried rice. My food... Yuck! worst Crab Rangoons I have ever had, so fishy tasting & my beef was just blah & kind of burnt. His meal was just "eh" he said. Overall everything was boring and bland tasting and the Rangoons just disgusting! Also they never have To Go menu's. You can only view their menu online. I've ordered from this restaurant lots of times and the food was great! The 5th of this month was my last because the food was awful- the boneless pork was like old brown sugar candy sticks.
