Food is always delicious, great service and very friendly staff...business is very clean and the prices are fair.

I've gone in for takeout for a number of years, and see that fewer and fewer customers are ever in there. I don't appreciate having to deal with owners with grumpy dispositions, exaggerated by language barriers, maybe thats why their dying down in there. Twice they gave the wrong takeout order, and now I'm finding they save costs by eliminating parts of a dish, when they create their lunch and dinner specials. I don't expect to ever see the inside of this restaraunt again, but at least there's no waiting. read more

From reading some of the high rated Yelp reviews, I was expecting something above average, but I just didnt see it. The interior is nice and a little larger than I expected from the average take-out place. They had 5 booths and a slew of tables with about 20 chairs. I brought home take-out for dinner tonight- steamed dumplings and Hot & Spicy Shrimp. The dumplings were just OK, I've had the same "quality" lots of times and better quality often. The Hot & Spicy Shrimp was most certainly neither Hot nor Spicy, it was tame, with a ton of shredded peppers and onions (how about something interesting, like water chestnuts or broccoli or straw mushrooms?). I've gone here a handful of times since moving to the area. What got me to initially check it out was a review that mentioned how their food isn't drowning in sauce. I'm pleased to say that the review was spot-on. Wok on the Wild Side relies on spices and combinations of quality ingredients to make their food taste good, instead of just covering everything in the same syrupy mess to make it all taste like your run-of-the-mill General Tso's. Imagine that...a Chinese restaurant where you can tell the difference between the different items. I stopped in a couple nights ago to grab takeout. I've always found that when they say "10 minutes", it's ready in 10 minutes. That night wasn't any different, and they had my food waiting for me when I walked in. I had ordered the Kung Pao chicken, and I have no complaints. The vegetables were fresh, not soggy, and it had the right amount of spice. It wasn't "Oh wow, I need to take a break because I'm sweating." It had a nice, slow heat that built up as you ate. Wok on the Wild Side has the best crab rangoons I have ever had. They're little pouches, not the pierogi shape that you normally see. Also, there's more flavor to them than just a mess of cream cheese. Try them the next time you come here. Reasonably priced, fast service, and friendly staff make this the best Chinese Restaurant that I have ever been to. Definitely stop by if you're in the mood for Chinese food. They have a fairly large dining area if you're looking for a sitdown dinner, and the food is consistently great. Protip: If you're hiking on the Metacomet Trail, you can order food from the parking area on Turkey Hills/Newgate Road, go to the Liquor Cabinet for a six-pack, and get to Wok on the Wild Side right as your food is coming out. read more

I feel as though I need to update my review and explain my 5 star rating. I can only comment on my own experiences, which for me, have been great at Wok. Obviously, I know Wok serves "Americanized" Chinese food. We do have a few choices in the area for Chinese, but none of them come close to Wok. Everything we've tried has been great! Boneless spare ribs, crab rangoons, combo meals, soups, lo mein, chicken fingers....all delicious. Mediocre at best. Ordered the pu pu platter for 2 (barely fed 1), quart of fried rice, and Sesame chicken.. With tax it was $38.00. Egg rolls were about 3 inches long. I know I'm a big eater, but i expect to have a few leftovers after spending $38.00 on chinese food. (Note to all: chinese food is dirt cheap to make). Their quart container was not a quart. Last time i checked a quart is 32 oz. The "quart" i received was 28 oz. Don't know if this is typical of all chinese restaurant. Not to quibble, but if I'm paying $8.95 for a "quart" of freaking rice, i expect a quart. Go to take 5 (agawam) on Tuesdays. 5 course meal (appetizer, salad bar, bread, soup, entree, desert for $20.00 per person. And its quality food. read more

I have heard good things about this place. I was not impressed. The egg roll was good... and so was the hot and sour soup. However... the spicy beef was more sweet than spicy. It really was not good. I have heard from people around this area that they really liked this place. I will try it again, but only because it is so close to my house... and I have heard good things. Very rude lady at the counter. I ordered on the phone and made it clear that I want to order but I will eat in the restaurant. When I arrived and told her who I was, she had an attitude, would not let me sit at a table of my choice although there was only 1 person in the entire restaurant. no smile, banged my plate on the table her husband came later and was very nice and polite, offered me a coke (not free of course) and was the only reason I did not walk out of the place without paying NEVER coming here again. the lady needs to get lessons on customer service read more

WOK ON THE WRONG SIDE: This was always a very average Chinese takeout, today worse. Don't appreciate the massive price hikes. $12?? $4 more for a lunch special & soup than website prices?? DEFINITELY NOT WORTH PAYING GOURMET PRICES FOR AVERAGE OR LESS FOOD. I have no problem paying for quality chinese. But I just had the worst hot and sour soup I've had in over a decade, and possibly the worst chinese overall in my life. (Really trying to dig those memories.) Hot & sour is tough to be good, but how can you screw up General Tso's? Near impossible but they did it. And a cold pygmy eggroll to boot. I prefer a soup from a buffet. I definitely won't be going back there ever to pay $12 for that quality of lunch. The website still has the old prices. I got screwed, and will definitely go anywhere else but there for lunch. They owe me an apology. I hate leaving terrible review for a small business, but maybe it's time to get a new chef & lower the prices. Or close up shop. I came here with my mother on the recommendation of several yelpers, and I was not disappointed. The service was speedy, the food very reasonably priced, and the meal delicious. Other reviewers have cited the fact that Wok doesn't rely on greasy food, but rather, produces high-quality dishes. My mother and I particularly enjoyed the pork lo mein and chicken with cashews. The space isn't anything to write home about--it's your standard hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant, complete with random giant photos of someone's toddler. Not a 5-star venue. Anyone who is giving this place 5-stars has not had good Chinese food. This location is basically a step above mall quality Chinese food. With everything I tried I really wasn't blown away by anything. The pan fried dumplings were decent, definitely worth getting again. The Crab Rangoons were a miss, they should probably call these cream cheese rangoons. The sesame chicken had too much general's sauce with chicken pieces that could be chicken, could be pork, could be something else but they don't really seem like chicken. The fried rice was more mush than anything else. The Lo Mein was likewise mushy. The white rice was definitely a highlight of the items we ordered. This location seems like a mom and pops place, there is almost no seating but the inside of this location is really clean, there was a 12-year old that rang up the order, which was certainly entertaining. Overall the dumplings, white rice and entertainment of being rang up by a 12-year old isn't worth the cost. We definitely won't go to again and probably won't order from anytime soon. We have been to WOTWS a number of times for take-out, and, honestly, it is good. Fabulous? No. But good. I am a wonton soup fan, so I always enjoy that when we order there. General Tso's chicken is tasty in it's bite size portions. We've never had a problem ordering from here either. If you're looking for a Chinese fix, this is a good place to go to. =) read more

This place is really on the wild side! When you ask two young girls to be your host and servers, disaster is just around the corner. Food without plates to eat from, the inability to count the number of people who need said plates, anger when asking for things like bowls for sharing the house soup or a knife to cut the spring roll. They have space to serve 44 people and yet the ability to serve is a foreign concept. Aside from this, the food is also very Americanized and I'm pretty sure it was microwaved as it came out minutes after ordering it. Called in my order at 6:00 they told me it would be ready in 20 minutes. My went to pick up the food on his way home from work. He got there around 6:10, waited 10 minutes then asked about the status of the order, referring to the items that we ordered . They checked their order list and told him another 10 minutes and it would be ready. 10 minutes goes by and he ask again about the status of the order. They then asked for the phone number and he gave them my number , they went to check their order list and said they never received an order from that number. At that point my brother was very frustrated and just left empty handed. We are disappointed with the poor service and lack of organization that this establishment offers. Very good food, pretty much the best option in town so we tend to go here quite a bit. Dependable and always good.

When you actually want to eat here they don't know how to serve. Two young girls flutter around and get you things one at a time. They bring three plates when there are four of you at the table. The chow mein dish is horrible and lacks taste. The pork chow mein is a few pieces of pork with TONS of onions and bean sprouts and fried noodles on the side (that came later and only after we asked for them). The house soup is tasty. Called them back and the lady was very rude and abrupt - told us she confirmed our order several times over the phone. Not true. And when we disputed that, she hung up on us. Great family run local business. Quality Chinese food. And they're delivery is fast.

We've eaten in and had take-out from this restaurant quite a few times over the last few years. The food is OK (more on that at end). It is generally clean and nicer than most Chinese restaurants inside. There is more of a language barrier here than at most places. In our most recent experience, I asked for white rice & received pork fried rice. We asked for a couple of containers to bring our leftovers home and received only one, so we left food on the table we would have rather brought with us. I have found this to be the least friendly restaurant, Chinese or otherwise, I have been to. Also, I would much prefer fountain drinks over cans and plastic bottles of beverages. I know it's an added cost, but it would improve the experience greatly. In terms of the food, the chicken & cashew dish is bland with a weird clear sauce and the cashews are often limp (no longer order). The pork fried rice is average. Egg rolls vary, but are usually good. Chicken lo men and won-ton soup so-so. Chicken fingers are good per my son. General Tso's chicken is fine, but not the best I've had.
