I brought this issue to Pamela's attention each time, yet nothing changed. As a result, my mother repeatedly missed critical doses of medication due to the negligence of the staff. Even more concerning, there have been two separate incidents where her emergency pendant went missing, only to be found hidden in areas of her apartment she physically could not access on her own. Instead of taking accountability, The Oaks blamed us for the missing pendants--when in fact, it's evident that an employee removed and concealed them. This is a direct threat to her safety and raises serious questions about staff conduct and integrity. In mid-February, my mother suffered a serious fall in her apartment. I was never notified by staff--it wasn't until the next morning, when I spoke to her on the phone, that I learned of the incident. Despite the injury requiring 16 stitches and later becoming infected, no one encouraged her to seek immediate medical attention, nor was I called. I was told afterward that the wound care team would "follow the case," which was completely insufficient for such a significant injury. The Oaks scheduled a doctor's appointment for my mother. The driver, Bill, dropped her off at the address written on her paperwork--only it was the wrong location and in the wrong city. I happened to show up to her appointment and saw her sitting alone in a building lobby with no way to contact anyone. When I spoke with Pamela, she claimed she had no way of knowing the doctor's office had moved. However, I confirmed directly with the office that they relocated over three months ago, and The Oaks had just scheduled the appointment the day prior. My mother was left alone, at the wrong address, due to a completely avoidable and careless oversight. These are not minor slip-ups--they are repeated failures to meet even the most basic standards of care, safety, and communication. Due to these ongoing issues, we are moved my mother out of The Oaks.

What can I say about Accentcare Hospice in Pinellas County FL?? They put profits over patients all…read morethe time.... yet they hide it well behind their rainbows & sunshine hospice philosophy and mission statement. They regularly fabricate medical record documentation to gain as many new patients as they can so they can make their numbers quota... while teetering dangerously close to medical fraud. Management is incompetent, unprofessional, & condescending. They are also fake, back-stabbing, and wont hesitate to throw their staff under the bus. They also play favorites. Unless you're an a##-kissing 'yes maam' proficient in sucking up... you likely wont have a chance in hell of being treated fairly here. The phrase "equal opportunities employer" is a joke at Pinellas Accentcare. Overall staff moral is always low... but not surprising with everyone being overworked, short-staffed, and under-paid. Payrates are about $3-5/hr lower than the other local hospice agencies in the area. Corporate is well aware of this wide gap and makes no attempts to stay salary-competitive. Nor do they care that they lose good employees all the time for this reason. There is always high rates of staff quitting... but you would expect that when managers take their employees for granted, dont appreciate them, dont pay them what they deserve, and treat them disrespectfully. But the best is upper management's shameful turning of a blind eye to employee bullying & abuse under their noses, and their blatent refusal to put a stop to hostile workplace environments. And dont expect any help or resolutions from HR in these situations... they are lazy & absolutely useless. They will even find a way to have you written up if you speak out or file complaints. I've never worked for a company that was such a shameful disgrace as Accentcare Pinellas. Do yourself a favor and pass on this company... you deserve MUCH better.

I asked her fresh out of nursing school and inexperienced nurse, Courtney, to retest her. Multiple times. She refused, dismissing it and saying "the doctor said no." Meanwhile, my Mom's PEG tube kept clogging, and they chalked it up to her "decline" instead of questioning their own care plan, which included meds that weren't even safe for PEG use. It wasn't until a Glucerna shipment got damaged during transit that they told us to rush her to the ER to avoid a sugar crash that we got answers. The hospital confirmed what I'd suspected all along: she still had a UTI. That worsening infection plus wrong meds had been contributing to the constant PEG clogs, and her overall decline. Even after that, AccentCare had the nerve to discharge her from hospice while she was still in the hospital. That's not compassionate care. That's medical mismanagement and hospice negligence. Absolutely disgraceful. Families deserve better than this. Trusting them cost my Mom time, comfort, and dignity.

ACCENT HOSPICE LARGO st Pete locations…read more I want to start out by saying DO NOT hire this company. T they hey have not adhered to state guidelines written to be a hospice In Florida!! I had to literally send the law to them to get a simple blood pressure monitor which falls under medical equipment. They have filed a FALSE POLICE Report because I have called their CEO of the company and they are now going to be under review and terminated. They have canceled all my scripts that they were paid for to perform as one of their duties as a hospice here on Florida. They promised to help with paying rent etc , have tried everything to manipulate me mon the phone by a supervisor that she actually had the nerve to say you joined hospice for a $1000 for rent ? Is that really a question anyone would ask someone with 6 months or less to live ?? Honestly made me drive to meet them at a restaurant while I tell them I'm going blind and oh no you have to get there . They have told me that the round a clock service? Call back during regular hours ,, . I have to say that the amount of abuse they feel they have the power with clients of them is frightening. I'm only 52 years old and a Marine. They have tried everything to cyoa themselves with their answers. I can tell you that if you go with this company. They hide who you can talk to about them all the way up to the company that owns them . I can tell you I have spoken to the ceo who is appalled at there indiscretions and hopefully they do decide to pay the rent money they did promise to help after hiring them not before which was brought to my attention after by a social worker for them . Misinformed completely by the way after getting the supervisor piper and I'm not sure of the other name . I want you to know they are the worst in my opinion so far as to abiding to the code and standards for hospice. They will have a few employees going to jail for filing a False report with the police which cost me a place to stay because of the embarrassment for the residents of hotel. They will have a lot to answer to as I have recorded all conversations. The police ought to love how the report they gave actually didn't happen the way they said it did and they get the handcuffs on and get bail. Which I will appear at their arraignment to make sure they don't get bail as to now I'm afraid to give any hospice my home address or where I might be staying seeing as they have cost me 2 residency's due to not keeping to their word on help with the rent , and sending police officers to a hotel I was vacationing at and got me to have to leave the hotel due to the embarrassment of the hotel for police to be there . And what else can I tell you . The doc thinks that if a med you tell them doesn't work and it's in the records what does , he says we will just double it up till it does. If you are dying die at the rate you should. They have shown me that by their logic , give you more of what doesn't work to keep you pain free and comfortable is just money to them and pain for you. I hope you seriously avoid this company. I'm posting them on the Black list at every VA hospital. And I'm going to make it public knowledge on 8 on your side . I think it will be a hot topic to show how our tax dollars are being abused along with those dying young or old !!!! Do not use this company!!!!!

The staff--from Abby to Grace and the entire team in every cottage--deserve recognition for their attentiveness, compassion, and support toward both residents and family members. The cottages are consistently clean and well maintained. Meals are nutritious, balanced, and served on time every day. Even when I was away for the summer, I felt confident knowing my mother was in good hands. The staff communicate regularly about residents' health and behavior, sharing both positive updates and any concerns promptly. My only suggestion for improvement would be to ensure better management of personal clothing items, as they were occasionally misplaced or taken by other residents. I recommend the facility to family members looking for a place for their parents or family Louise T

The State has closed two cottages due to the infestation and poor conditions (full of roaches). The director, Dawn Grady, is a horrible human being who only cares about filling the place and residents are dying due to neglect. I regret sending my mother to Pacifica Bellair for the 8 months that she resided there, ending up with a huge hematoma that bled for two weeks. One of the residents, a little old lady that lived in the same cottage than my mother, was sent to the hospital with maggots in her legs and private parts. She died in the hospital. This place SHOULD BE CLOSED and Dawn Grady should not be working with our fragile loved ones.
