I found Alma Floral on Yelp and gave her a call towards the end of a work day. She sounded genuinely happy to chat (a nice change) and her website made it easy to place my order online. (Bonus - Alma's also happy to communicate via iMessage and email.) Alma sent pics of the bouquet with and without the final touches and I was blown away by her choice of flowers/vase, the artful arrangement, and the perfectly chic, understated wrapping... Alma's taste and skill is exquisite: For well-under $100 she hit the mark on a complicated request and surpassed my expectations. The flowers she delivered: a) were not what we agreed on in her proposal, b) were far less robust than had been agreed on and paid for, c) included several partially dead or dying flowers and d) were constructed poorly, creating several logistical challenges, including my planner having to run to a local bodega for extra flowers since so many were dead and having to get vases from florist doing a wedding at the venue next door. Her work was so far from the mark before you even take into account the dead flowers, which I have ample photo evidence of. My day of coordinator and photographer (who had recommended Alma to me, was horrified to have done so seeing her work product, and has advised her other clients to cancel their contracts with her) said that the flowers delivered looked like they were worth only half the amount I had paid her. After my wedding, I contacted Melissa to share my feedback (dismay, really) and that I wanted financial restitution, she did not respond to several outreaches. When I booked Melissa, I knew from reviews that she had some issues with responsiveness; though she assured me that she had hired an office manager to support her, I never saw evidence of this - emails were often unreturned and deliverables late. Needless to say, I would strongly advise any bride from booking Melissa. I'm still struggling to look at my wedding photos without crying at how much she screwed up. Her work, communication style, and total avoidance of addressing these issues ipso facto were far from professional.

I usually buy fresh flowers at Trader Joe's, but the quarantine kept me out of stores in general. Acclimating to quarantining and working from home was a very disruptive process for me mentally and emotionally. By week 8 of my 14 week WFH journey I found Park & Bloom, and having fresh flowers in the house again helped me regain my balance. My first order was for some coral charm peonies that I fussed over like a pet. They closed most nights and went to bed and changed colors in the most beautiful way. My dude and I had long drawn-out conversations about the peonies; I think my dogs were a little jealous of the attention the flowers received. Since then I have ordered some more peonies, some anemones, and a small arraignment that was precious. I am always impressed with the quality of the flowers and love that the selection changes every week. Free local delivery on Wednesdays and Fridays is also really nice and there is usually pick-up available Saturday morning at the farmers market under the viaduct in Hoboken.
