What a happy surprise! We love that sunset view from the hilltop overlooking the town and ocean... but not crazy about the food at the neighboring restaurant there by the Lighthouse. Fish (now named Pesce e Vino) is great. Not snobby or expensive, just excellent seafood prepared very well. All our entrées were $15, 280gr portions were more than enough. We had Salmon Wellington, Flounder with a light sauce, artichoke and capers, Grouper topped with Kalamata olives...all delicious. We started with the soft, flavorful focaccia bread served with balsamic vinegar and olive oil, $8... And the Mexican shrimp cocktail was outstanding. No shrimpy taste, all the flavors were bright and fresh, married together with nice big bites of shrimp... We 3 shared it! For dessert we had their homemade chocolate mousse it was incredible. Flavorful and fluffy yet not overpowering while still giving you the chocolate satisfaction you would expect! Enough to share! read more

Fish is one of two restaurants sharing the same building, owned by the same chef. Both are beautiful, with great views of the city and bay, especially at night. The main ingredient at Fish, as would be expected, is predominantly prime seafood cuts from fresh catches of the day from the nearby fishing boats. We started with a nice Pinot Grigio for my partner and a delicious Tanquery martini for me. Appetizers were their focaccia along with the octopus, which was served almost like a stew, with little chunks of potatoes, which acted like little puffs of cloud when encountered. The octopus was tender and tasty, and well worth ordering. I had the special for the evening, fresh grouper in a garlic butter sauce with asparagus on the side. The fish was tender and a sufficiently large piece that I was quite satisfied. My partner, who has a smaller appetite, ordered the shrimp bisque and potatoes gratin. The potatoes were delicious and the bisque was unbelievably good, easily the best we've ever had. Service was attentive throughout the meal, without being intrusive and our waiter, though it was only his third day there, was charming and fun. We got to meet the owner/chef and spent about thirty minutes talking and seeing the upstairs restaurant, which is Italian. The chef is wonderful, has a passion for his work and the restaurants and works hard to present very fine dining in a small fishing village at extremely reasonable prices. We'd heard about FISH (formerly The Lighthouse), had eaten at Chef Lucas' previous and current restaurants (and loved the food), so admittedly, we were excited to have dinner here, especially since we could look up and see it from our hotel (Vina del Mar). The entrance and the road going UP may be a little intimidating, so go slow (we drive a sedan) on the fairly well maintained, unpaved road at about two mph (put your vehicle in 1st gear), and you're there in about two minutes. Same method going down. The entrance is a little tricky (if you'd never been to The Lighthouse or El Capitan), off behind a liquor store to the left if you're headed to the Malecon, on the right, if you're leaving same. The interior is modern elegant and air conditioned, and the large, long, outside balcony is awesome for viewing the incredible view of the city (close-up), the sunset and of course, the ocean. The prices seemed mostly reasonable for what we hoped would be incredible food, but our selections were either great, or barely or less than average. The service was less special (considering the pricing) than we hoped for, but then, we had the beautiful sunset view. We had a glass of the Casillera del Diablo Cabernet (priced much more reasonably than other restaurants, $31 v. $40/bottle), iced tea, Saffron Clams, Shrimp Bisque, Salmon Wellington, Flounder Genovese, and Potato Gratin. The tab was $60. An decent value, we thought. The not so good: the Potato Gratin is skippable for the lack of flavor and cheese. The Shrimp Bisque was more broth than bisque and needed something (we added salt and pepper), and had lots more croutons than shrimp (4 to 1?). Bread does not come automatically with the meal and is on the menu a la carte. The great: Salmon Wellington was (I don't like using this word) DIVINE. Wow! The phyllo was perfect and the salmon and cheese filling were incredible. The Flounder Genovese was thick with a citrus essence sauce and perfectly prepared. The Saffron Clams were fresh, almost swimming in a delicious, salty, garlic, saffron and butter sauce. Our server was adequate, but he seemed a little out of his element, rapport-wise, at FISH. A little jaded, not really accustomed to fine dining service, but adequate, nonetheless. In our case, the main entrees and the views were the stars for this visit. We're not sure if and when we'll be back, but the Salmon will stay in MY head. read more

Amazing!!! The scallop ceviche was the perfect start to our meal as was the Mexican shrimp cocktail. Killer - and strong! - margaritas. Wow! This restaurant exceeded our expectations! Our party of 10 (6 adults and 4 children) came in for dinner and to celebrate my sister's birthday. Our server (Manual, I think) took excellent care of us, the food was amazing (seriously - have the seafood stew) and we got to watch the sunset over the ocean. This is my favorite restaurant in Rocky Point for the unbelievable views and the food. We like to go about 30 minutes before sunset, you will be in the perfect spot to enjoy all the beautiful colors. We love to order plenty of focaccia bread, and my favorite appetizer is the octopus salad, just like in Italy. The special with 3 different piece of fish, available for two people it's the dish that I try to order every time. Chocolate mousse is a must for my wife to end our visit. read more

The view in this place was as amazing as the pictures. I really enjoyed the food and drinks but was especially appreciative with how accommodating the staff was with my partner and I our dog. We didn't want to leave our dog at home because she wasn't familiar with the area and anxious. However, it was our last night in rocky point so we really wanted to go to a nice restaurant. We went extremely early and asked if she could sit on the patio with us and they said yes and allowed us in with her and also gave her a dish for water. Service is pretty important to me and can make a great meal awful and an average meal excellent. This place has the best of both and I would absolutely go back again. read more

By far the very best dining experience in Puerto Penasco. Our dining experience began with a table that had an amazing view. We started our dinner with two appetizers, crab cakes and saffron steamed clams. The saffron steamed clams were perhaps the best clams we have ever had the pleasure of tasting. I then had the bouillabaisse, which had a delectable broth and nothing but the freshest seafood. My friend enjoyed the flounder with fresh vegetables. The focaccia was the best I have ever had. Even the ice cream and berries for dessert was amazing. Our waiter, Eduardo was well versed and a true gentleman. Dine early to get the beast seats. read more

I had heard the view here was second to none. That is so true. Christian was our server, he was so kind and fun and treated us wonderfully. Everyone in my party ordered something different. Each dish was delicious. I had the Flounder Genovese, just the right about of citrus and salt. Daughter #1 had the Grouper with olive tapenade. It was a little to fishy for me, but she loved it. Daughter #2 had the Shrimp Trio. I tried a bite of each and it was so good!! Our friend had the prime rib and the turf was as good as the surf. Had heard it was hard to get to, not really. Drive slow. Highly suggest you time it so you can see the sunset. read more

The food is great and it might be the best bread I have ever had, but I did walk out hungry.

FISH is our favorite restaurant for seafood. Anywhere. Not just mushy flounder like some places here. We have not had a meal we didn't love here. My fave is Shrimp Wellington. Grouper is wonderful and crab cakes in Rocky Point? Absolutely delicious. The drive up the hill is doable by any vehicle. The view and fabulous food are worth every peso and the menu is very moderate. And it is right in town. read more
