One star for the customer service, 4 for the food. The girl up front is condescending, rude and impatient. She couldn't seem to be patient enough for my order (I ordered one item that I altered 2 things in) by tapping her fingernails, like, "I'm waiting, hurry up!" She needs to be elsewhere in this establishment, or not in the customer service industry at all. Very disappointing. The presentation of my food was poor and she made my meal even worse with her cruddy and condescending attitude. I don't leave bad reviews often, but i will not won't be back if she's still up front. Makes this location very undesirable and for a horrible experience. No napkins, no utensils, etc. When someone pays 12+ dollars for a salmon wrap, you expect, or at least hope, for some good customer service to go along with it. Every time I go here I'm even more impressed than before. There's just so many options to try and nothing ever disappoints. The fish is always so fresh and clean. The sauces are incredible. I can never get enough of them. If you go here, definitely try the crispy rice w spicy tuna and the salmon tacos. I had their ahi poke tacos ($7) they were considered an appetizer but I ate it as my entree. I also ordered a cup of lemongrass shrimp soup ($4) and generously sized. It came with crackers. OK sandwich but terrible customer service. After seeing my friend's sandwich was made with lettuce and tomato I definitely wanted that for my sandwich. I hadn't know that you had to ask for it when you ordered. I went back to the counter and asked if I could get it on my tuna melt or just on the side and I would add it. The gal at the register could NOT figure out how to charge me the 25¢ for the upgrade. Did she give me the lettuce and tomato anyways? NO. I suggested she ask a manager how to make the charge and she said she was in charge. Honestly...IT WAS 25¢...but they could not figure out how to make this customer happy. My hubby and I tried this place for lunch after a trip to Dog Beach with our pooches. It is in a nondescript strip mall west of the I-5, so not much to look at from the outside. There was no indoor service but a couple of tables set up outside in a beautiful SD Saturday was all we needed. The shrimp ceviche was scrumptious and just the right size for a lunch portion. They have a nice selection of beers, and a couple of daily specials that both looked good, but we didn't try them that day. We will definitely be back to try more of the fresh seafood. read more

I went for the Shrimp Po Boy and my wife did the seared ahi quinoa bowl. We thought the food was quite good in the solid 4-star level. We also split an order of fries, which were recommended to us while waiting in line. They were very impressive. Blackened Ahi bowl. $13. Not cheap. Top 3/4 of an inch of a not particularly big bowl, (wide brimmed at the top, but shallow, designed to look bigger than it actually is) was delicious. Nice ahi. But there was only a Dusting greens atop two inches of rice. And because of the misleading shape of the bowl, that was not even a lot of rice. And how much does rice ? About a nickel? Overall, a disappointing ripoff. Frankly, I rather object to the causal-ness of thievery. It insinuates a customer is easily duped. And that scamming is oK. That's disrespectful. My family was staying in Del Mar and we wanted an easy, healthy option for dinner. This was our first experience with Fish District and we were not disappointed. While sitting on the beach, I used the order online for pickup option on the restaurant's website. It was easy to navigate and the menu options are succinct and clear. Everything was ready by the time I drove down to pick it up. My wife and son had fish and chips and they loved it. It held up well in the to go containers. Btw, everything was packaged nicely and I like the fact they ask if need utensils. I had a grilled salmon salad in bed of diced kale, almond slivers, julienned apples and a nice citrus vinaigrette. It was really good. I also had a side grilled shrimp taco (coastal style) that was well prepared. We loved the food and ease of ordering so much, we ordered dinner again the next night. I love how they have it on happy hour form 11-3, it is priced well around $8 bucks as well. This place has fresh, delicious and quality ingredients. I just love fish district. The first time I tried fish district was in Orange county and I was hooked. I'm so glad that they expanded down to San Diego. Their poke bowls are delicious and ahi what's phenomenal. I also really like their clam chowder because it's filled with lots of clams. It's the ultimate comfort food. The fish and chips weren't so bad either. Everything was fried perfectly and seasoned really well. My boyfriend and I came here on a Thursday afternoon and it wasn't quite busy but everything felt really comfortable and we really enjoyed our time there. The staff here is all really helpful and they always greet you with a smile. It's so convenient now that they have a few locations throughout San Diego. OK. When you can get one fish taco with a huge fish filet in it for JUST $3 each, I might as well die and go to heaven right there!!! I will go back just for that!! We also had their tuna bowls which were also good, but the flavors are all very unique, so you'll have to figure out which flavor you'll like best. I love the ahi as well as the salmon, my husband really enjoyed his fish and chips and the kids meals are generous too. My wife selected a shrimp po-boy and I had the shrimp and scallop melt on brioche bread. We ended up sharing half of each other's sandwich. She like the po boy and I liked the shrimp and scallops. Either way, they were both delicious. The po boy had shrimp, tomato, lettuce, and their Shriracha sauce (not spicy). Nice, simple sandwich so you could really taste the shrimp. I ordered the ahi poke tacos ( 3 for $7 which is totally reasonable) and I loved everything about it except the creamy wasabi drizzle it came with LOL. I did not know it would come with the wasabi sauce, as I am not a fan of wasabi. I would have given it 5 stars if maybe I asked them to replace it with spicy mayo drizzle instead haha. Flour taco shell had a nice crisp to it with a good amount of fish and avocado stuffed inside. I loved the portobello mushroom fries ($7 as well, a little pricey but they definitely give a sharable amount for 2 people) as well, it was fresh and not overloaded with batter. Nice fast option for some lunch time poke. That's the only order I've ever gotten from here so it's the only thing I can speak to. There's enough toppings and options (although most poke-only places have more options). Food is usually ready pretty fast, or you can order ahead of time online and just pick it up. The only opportunity for this restaurant to improve would be to establish a more reliable source of avocados in the face of an alleged shortage. Hint: There is an abundance of avocados in Mexcio. Food just ok, service is terrible and manager only full of excuses. My order was short two items we paid for, unfortunately it was a to go order so we didn't notice the shortage until later. I called and they knew of their mistake and I asked if I would come back to get the rest of the order which I did. Rather than saying it was their mistake I was told it's my responsibility to make sure that the order was complete before I left the store. The manager in no way was going to take responsibility for the shortage. This is not the first time they've screwed up a to go order but it'll be the last time the order there again. The typical chain often serves really bad poke with a lingering aftertaste but not here.. I really left impressed with the quality and cut of tuna.
