Me and my bestie were looking for some seafood but in a good old fashioned hole in the wall kinda place. This place is it. They have a very diverse menu. I was super excited that I could choose from so many seafood options. Its hard to find affordable seafood in San Diego County. We went during a slow hour, on purpose. Not a fan of fighting crowds to eat. They were very inviting, the restaurant was clean. I ordered a seafood combo plate and bestie ordered the Paella. We both agreed the flavors were perfect. Not overly spiced, good sized portions. It reminded me of a place back home and was a little nostalgic. It was exactly what we were looking for. 10/10 would recommend.

If you are remotely a fish fan, get here now! Ambiance is nice and relaxing. Love that there is a front patio if you want that coastal breeze. Or watch the Padres play inside while you're sipping down Voodoo Ranger IPA Hazy Ale! Had their chips and salsa to start. Chips made fresh to order and salsa was tasty! For dinner went with the Baja Tacos plate. Was not disappointed that's for sure. Tacos had right amount of all the trimmings, crisp on the fish was perfect. I tried a bite of my wife's blackened red snapper,,, YUMMY! Tie up the dingy and get here! Waitress was pleasant and served us with a beautiful smile. Noticed several patrons are regulars and that's how you know you're at a great spot! Looking forward to a return soon so I can go for the clam chowda'!

Best fish and chips and ceviche I've ever had and I've tried it up and down the west and east coast, the fish and shrimp batter was light crispy and airy very comparable to the Gordon Ramsey fish and chip batter, ceviche was super fresh, meat heavy and substantial, my kids had the salmon and rice and the noodles and both dishes were a good size for the price, we sat outside and it was just perfect! Great service, quick and basically exactly what you want when you're craving a coastal style seafood place.

What a nice find in Solana Beach. This is a friendly, casual and welcoming local eatery that delivers big on food, service and fresh preparation. Clam Chowder is a nice change from the board white potato soup that is so common. The Fish Tacos come with a welcome spice. And, it's always a treat to find crispy clam strips on the menu! Fish & Chips and even chicken pasta (for non-fish eaters) were all well prepared. Guys who run the place are so polite and gave us non-locals a kind welcome.

Back to give Solana Beach Fish House another go! I still feel this is a local SB seafood shop that has good hearty food. Many local residents dine here. Nothing fancy and the portion sizes are good. Service was great and you can feel the positive energy of the customers. Ambiance is a fisherman's cave! Seafood fish cioppino stew has a hearty quantity of seafood, including one clam, one shrimp and one mussel. I found myself picking out all the seafood and leaving the broth. The Surf and Turf burrito came with white rice and beans. I really enjoyed the simplicity of this dish.

Very friendly staff, has a local bar setting. Very friendly staff. Very delicious food!! I had a variety of things bad they were all very tasty. I was impressed with the fried oysters! They were huge and you truly can taste the full oyster as they were only lightly battered. The chicken penna pasta, clam chowder soup, and mussels were all very enjoyable.

This is a very casual place in a strip mall, but the food is quite good! We had clam chowder, fried oysters, and a side of Cole slaw. All were very good. Oysters heavily breaded but nicely fried. Great friendly service.

Pasta with salmon in a Cajun creamy sauce, and it was seriously impressive. The pasta cooked perfectly. The salmon was tender.

Crispy, golden, and irresistibly light. These fried calamari strips are an absolute crowd-pleaser. delicate, crunchy batter. Very hard to share with others I keep them all to myself.

The food was outstanding! Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals. We had the Baja Fish Taco plate, Grilled Salmon, Poke, Fish & Chips and Poke Bowl. All meals were delicious! The rice was soooooooo good, fluffy & tasty. Definitely coming back

It was great having lunch here today after a long absence for us. I had one of our favorites, Cajun Scallop Burger (5/5 $16.95) with cole slaw. Interior still has its casual nautical vibe. The fresh seafood case is gone, but the extended bar looks great. Service was very good.

Stopped in after long drive back from Tahoe. Place was busy on presidents weekend but we didn't mind waiting. I finally tried the salmon kabobs and wow! Now I can't stop talking about them and can't wait to go back. If you are in the area and want good fish come here. You can also order fish to go, market style on their board. I prefer this place over other nearby restaurants in Solana for fish.

Not bad, not great. I came here today because Fish 101 was closed. I got the fish and chips. The fish had a nice crispy coating, but was pretty flavorless. The chips were a little dry and plain. Service was great, the food came out quickly, and the ambience was casual but clean. Parking was easy once maps took me through the strip mall maze, and it was conveniently close to other nearby shopping areas. Okay for a quick bite if you're in a hurry but it didn't make it on my list of top fish and chips spots of San Diego.

The ambience seems like a typical bar/restaurant but the beach but it's more than that! The prices were a lot lower than I thought they would be & the valet is only $8 (before 4)! Looks like they might have street parking and there is a public lot across the street but it was a weekend and fairly busy. My MIL can't wait go back. She mentioned it in the restaurant, getting the car, getting out of the car & when we got back to her place. She loved her birthday so much, thank you Jake's!!

We have been fortunate enough to visit exceptional restaurants in several countries, including throughout Europe, as well as renowned five-star restaurants in Mexico. However, the service we received last night deserves special recognition. Our server, Brian O'Malley, executed every stage of service with a level of excellence that is difficult to find today. His attention was impeccable, professional, warm, and perfectly coordinated. He was always present at exactly the right moment without ever being intrusive, carefully attending to every detail and making us feel genuinely well cared for. The quality of the food was extraordinary, but Brian's hospitality elevated the entire experience to another level. At a time when people often speak only about the establishments themselves, I believe it is equally important to recognize the individuals who make it possible for an evening to become an unforgettable memory. Thank you, Brian, for demonstrating that true service is not simply about bringing a dish to the table, but about making the people seated at that table feel truly special. She checked on us frequently, made terrific suggestions for food/drinks, answered questions cheerfully and had such an infectiously positive attitude while serving. So we took the coast and enjoyed the long way to the restaurant so we could get there at the right time. No issues parking, but we went during a slow time. It's off steet parking, there's not a parking lot, but again we found plenty of spots right in front of the restaurant. They have pretty and colorful decor. Fun lights and beautiful flowering tree coverage. Seating is outdoors so dress accordingly. I knew this because we've enjoyed dining here a few times, so I actually used my little throw blanket. It's causal but some Couples dress up and eat here too. Server was great. He was tentative and nice. I knew I wanted the shrimp causa and my daughter's favorite Peruvian dish is Lomo saltado, so thatd what she ordered. He told us about the specials so we went with trying the baked scallops. I'd asked for 2 and he accidentally brought 4 but immediately realized and without us having to even ask, he offered to take the extra two off. So grateful he caught that. My daughter doesn't like scallops and I just wanted to try them. I like sea scallops but these were bay scallops. I never asked so I shouldn't have assumed. It was a tasty appetizer, talked my daughter into trying it but she wasn't interested to try more. She loves Parmesan cheese and there was a lot but she wouldn't attempt the scallops. They were not under nor over cooked. I'm not sure what made it taste so unique but we both agreed we've never tasted anything like it. The shrimp causa wasnt the same flavor as months months ago. We don't live near so it's been a while since we've tried it. The alioli was a lot spicier than ever but still had good flavor but the causa was dry. But I had a side of alioli to help with that. Shrimp was tasty. Several other restaurants shrimp has been tasting off for months but this place shrimp tasted better. The Inca and chicha were delicious. I miss the cut up apple they use to put in it but still tastes fresh. Lomo Saltado was just two huge potato wedges and very few rice. Look at the photo. We did not eat any of it yet. This is the portion. It had good amount of jugó but the flavor wasnt like anything we'd tasted in Peru. BUT there's many many areas in Peru and we've only lived in a few and have only visited a handful more so just because it's not like any lomo we've tasted, doesn't mean it's not Peruvian. My daughter still liked it. It was high soy sauce and high vinegar taste. Lomo has both, but it was missing the cumin and flame flavor for me. We don't like potato wedges at all but she cut it up and made due with it. We were sooooo hungry from all day at the zoo so we almost finished all of it. None of the dishes are repeats for us but again, they taste good, just not the flavors we are use to, it's been a while so maybe that's why the causa and lomo tasted different. The server asked how is everything, im sure if we had said something he'd probably sought to help, but really it is what it is. I just think they cook differently then what we have had living in Peru. My husband had the seco here time ago, it's was incredibly delicious. He loves lamb. It was cooked perfectly and the frijoles were delicious as well. I hope the decide to put that dish back on the menu. Please. Not every visit is gonna go perfectly, that's not possible. Still a fun colorful restaurant with great service. Plates had great presentation. Not long at all ago I enjoyed the ceviche. I was just too cold to get it this time. Gonna got for it next time. Another couple got a huge salad. It looked so good, imma look for it on the menu next time.
