Very friendly staff, has a local bar setting. Very friendly staff. Very delicious food!! I had a variety of things bad they were all very tasty. I was impressed with the fried oysters! They were huge and you truly can taste the full oyster as they were only lightly battered. The chicken penna pasta, clam chowder soup, and mussels were all very enjoyable.

What a nice find in Solana Beach. This is a friendly, casual and welcoming local eatery that delivers big on food, service and fresh preparation. Clam Chowder is a nice change from the board white potato soup that is so common. The Fish Tacos come with a welcome spice. And, it's always a treat to find crispy clam strips on the menu! Fish & Chips and even chicken pasta (for non-fish eaters) were all well prepared. Guys who run the place are so polite and gave us non-locals a kind welcome.

Back to give Solana Beach Fish House another go! I still feel this is a local SB seafood shop that has good hearty food. Many local residents dine here. Nothing fancy and the portion sizes are good. Service was great and you can feel the positive energy of the customers. Ambiance is a fisherman's cave! Seafood fish cioppino stew has a hearty quantity of seafood, including one clam, one shrimp and one mussel. I found myself picking out all the seafood and leaving the broth. The Surf and Turf burrito came with white rice and beans. I really enjoyed the simplicity of this dish.

Pasta with salmon in a Cajun creamy sauce, and it was seriously impressive. The pasta cooked perfectly. The salmon was tender.

Crispy, golden, and irresistibly light. These fried calamari strips are an absolute crowd-pleaser. delicate, crunchy batter. Very hard to share with others I keep them all to myself.

This is a very casual place in a strip mall, but the food is quite good! We had clam chowder, fried oysters, and a side of Cole slaw. All were very good. Oysters heavily breaded but nicely fried. Great friendly service.

The food was outstanding! Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals. We had the Baja Fish Taco plate, Grilled Salmon, Poke, Fish & Chips and Poke Bowl. All meals were delicious! The rice was soooooooo good, fluffy & tasty. Definitely coming back

It was great having lunch here today after a long absence for us. I had one of our favorites, Cajun Scallop Burger (5/5 $16.95) with cole slaw. Interior still has its casual nautical vibe. The fresh seafood case is gone, but the extended bar looks great. Service was very good.

Stopped in after long drive back from Tahoe. Place was busy on presidents weekend but we didn't mind waiting. I finally tried the salmon kabobs and wow! Now I can't stop talking about them and can't wait to go back. If you are in the area and want good fish come here. You can also order fish to go, market style on their board. I prefer this place over other nearby restaurants in Solana for fish.

Not bad, not great. I came here today because Fish 101 was closed. I got the fish and chips. The fish had a nice crispy coating, but was pretty flavorless. The chips were a little dry and plain. Service was great, the food came out quickly, and the ambience was casual but clean. Parking was easy once maps took me through the strip mall maze, and it was conveniently close to other nearby shopping areas. Okay for a quick bite if you're in a hurry but it didn't make it on my list of top fish and chips spots of San Diego.

Came in for a weekday lunch with friends. The waitress was very nice and kept checking up on us throughout the meal. I ordered the scallops burger on their lunch menu and the rest ordered off the regular menu. I thought my $14 burger was good but nothing special really. This place has a lot of good reviews though.

We came here on accident, but this was the best accident that happened. The fried fish., fried clam strips, and fried shrimp was amazing.

The fish was great, fried shrimp was great. Service was amazing. Very nice gentlemen served us and it's just a little hole in the wall without standing food.

We found free parking on the street a block or two down from the restaurant. Service (4/5): You order at the counter and then they bring your food to you. A couple of things stand out to me about their service. I was looking at the menu and was about to order. Someone behind me cut in line without asking if I was ready to order. The lady working noticed this and asked me to order first. Humanity still exists! They also check on your periodically even though this isn't true table service which is a nice touch. On the flip side, they did try and upsell me to add bacon bits to my dish which I was all for until I saw it was a $3.50 upcharge. I asked them to remove it. A little too steep. Ambiance (4/5): My type of restaurant. Casual with some charm. We sat at a table across from the bar. They have some cool decor, too. No complaints. Drinks (4/5): I had a beer flight because I often can't say no to a flight. I love the variety and being able to try new beers, especially when I'm traveling. While they don't have a huge selection, they had just enough beers that were interesting for me to take the plunge. Food (4/5): I did the country poutine which comes with fries, gravy, fried chicken bites, and green onions. I'm a sucker for loaded fries so I couldn't say no. Especially for this twist on a classic poutine. Generous portion size as I had hoped. A little more chicken would have been nice, but outside of that, very solid.

The location has a pretty extensive menu written in chalk on the walk, and it's easy to read. There are choices of sandwiches, salads and a lot of great food in-between. After taking a minute to decide we went with the Southwest Chicken Salad ($16.99) as well as the Hawaiian Chicken Sandwich ($15.99) with a side of hushpuppies. The sauce on the salad was flavorful with just a bit of zest, and they gave us extra so that was really cool. It's a really comfy place to eat with a little bit of a Louisiana feel to it. For good food served by good people, this is the place!

I appreciated that they tried to make things right. I was really disappointed with my experience at Lazy Dog. I ordered the pot roast, and it honestly seemed like it had been sitting out for a while before being served. The food was only lukewarm, which is not what you expect from a hot pot roast meal. What made the experience worse was the cleanliness. The host mentioned they were having a "pest night," which already made us uncomfortable. Then after sitting down, we noticed trash, old food debris, and garbage stuffed in between the booth seats. It made the restaurant feel unsanitary and poorly maintained. Overall, the food quality, cleanliness, and overall experience did not meet expectations at all.

In the past, I've had some really great meals and experiences there, which is why this review is difficult to write. Unfortunately, during my most recent visit to the Clairemont Mesa location, the food quality was noticeably different from what I remembered. Overall, the meal felt below the standard I had experienced there before. With that said, let me start with my high hopes of Jimmy's based on Yelp reviews from fellow Elites. We came here with a large group to celebrate my son's birthday. Reservations were made in advance knowing we had a large party of 13 and this places seemed like a pretty popular spot. I chose this place to celebrate my son's 23r birthday for their burgers & location (right off the Marina). The hostess was cordial when accommodating my reservation. She even asked if I had other needs and just mentioned I have a dad with advanced Alzheimer's so they are aware of a guest need. Upon arriving, hostess was pleasant and expectant of our arrival. We sat down pretty promptly on the outdoor patio. Our waitress greeted us as we got settled. Mentioned all their food comes fresh. Proteins are not frozen and fish caught local. This got us all excited. She took our drink orders and soon after our meals. Things were good. Until it wasn't. Our reservation was at 6:30p. We still sat at our tables 7:51p with no food yet. Our waitress was very hard to find. My dad was getting very ansy. We had to flag down another waitress who was serving another table of 13 who arrived after us and was almost finished with their food. Food finally came out after 1.5 hours!! We were so disappointed by 1) getting our food in late 2) our food was cold!! My husbands mashed potatoes, cold. My son's gf short rib, cold, my fries, soggy, and my fish sandwich, hard. They offered to replace our food but after waiting that long, and with a dad who needs to get back home, we said no! The manager did offer her apologies and asked what we needed, I honestly couldn't give her an answer. The experience was just awful for all of us!! My brother had to ask 3 times for a box for his leftovers. The bus boy was seriously clueless. To top it off, there was a man in the women's bathroom when my sons' gfs were in there. What is going on here???? Why 2 stars, instead 0? because honestly the Manager, Danielle, tried to do her best to make our experience better. If it wasn't for her and me feeling bad for such an unbelievable disappointing experience. It honestly took me aback. Manager tried her best to make it up with comping desserts. I was told the Brookie was good. She took $100 off our bill and gave 2- $50 gift cards to come back. I honestly don't think I'll be using them. Caution, but you may have a better experience than our family.

The setup is pretty casual, you order at the counter and then find your own table. We grabbed a nice corner booth with which worked out great for our group and all the kids. We ordered the calamari, parmesan garlic fries, and the cornmeal battered fish. Our friends got the quinoa bowl with cod and the garlic shrimp rice plate. The standout for me was definitely the cornmeal battered fish. It was fresh, juicy, and cooked really well. The fries that came with it were just okay, but the coleslaw was surprisingly one of my favorites I've had. The Parmesan garlic fries were interesting, there was too much garlic and the garlic was way too spicy and overpowering. It was inexpensive, which probably explains why there seemed to be more batter than actual calamari. The texture was also inconsistent, some pieces were so chewy that we could barely bite through them. But I'd honestly come back just for that fish and slaw combo. The calamari was a little disappointing. My biggest and only issue was the wait for our food. Our friends got their meals pretty quickly, but ours never came out. My husband checked twice, and both times we were told it was coming soon. Meanwhile, two tables that came in after us got their food, and one even finished and left before ours arrived. Our friends were deliberately eating slowly so we could all eat together, but they still ended up finishing before our food showed up which sucked since they had to wait for us later. Despite that, I thought the food was good overall. Hopefully the delay was just an off day because the fish was definitely worth ordering and eating again!
