This hike offers some of the best views of Marin & beyond. You'll see the GG Bridge, Richmond…read moreBridge, Angel Island, the Belvedere lagoon, Mt. Tam and more. We were warned to watch for coyotes - I always have a whistle with me when I hike so felt OK about it. We did close to a 4 mile loop maybe about 600 feet of climbing or so. Stunning!

The views here are 5 star, it doesn't get much better than this. Hiking wise the preserve doesn't…read morehave the greatest trails but it's more geared for a shorter hike with views. The most basic is to park at the end of Vistazo Street and take the fire road to the church and back. This is an easy 1 mile walk which is good for people that aren't looking to go hiking but want to take an easy walk in nature. Another way to get to the church is from downtown which is only about 15-minute walk and has some elevation but still easy. I think that's a good idea for ferry day trippers to Tiburon looking for something more to do than just hanging out downtown. It's worth seeing Old Saint Hilary's Church because it's so historic but the open hours are extremely limited, I've never been in because it never seems to be open. Currently I think it's only open Sundays from 1-4pm. There are a few different trails in the preserve but nothing is super long, it's more about the amazing views of the city, bay, Angel Island, and beyond. It's quite breathtaking, especially in the spring with the wildflowers. A sign sits on the top saying Private Property and No Trespassing and looks like there are some more trails beyond but they don't look too maintained or stable. To make this a longer hike there is the loop that goes down to Tiburon Uplands Nature Preserve from one of the trails. This loops down to Paradise drive and adds about an extra mile.

Beautiful well-maintained trail with views of the bay and Golden Gate Bridge. We usually park at…read moreBlackie's Pasture & walk from there, but today we were coming from the Belvedere Tiburon library so decided to park on San Rafael Ave & take a quick scenic stroll. We liked looking at the waterfront homes along San Rafael Ave and then the more familiar main path with other pedestrians walking their dogs & families riding their bikes. Lovely way to get fresh air and exercise!

We're all shuffled off to Angel Island or Sam's Anchor Cafe to congregate away from the downward eye-line of the wealthy locals. The one exception is this 2.6-mile trail which really isn't a trail. It's more like a paved promenade that won't make you break out in a sweat unless it's a hot summer day where you're fully exposed. It starts at Blackie's Pasture where surprisingly, there's free parking. The walkway winds along the picturesque shoreline of Richardson Bay to downtown Tiburon offering gorgeous views throughout. Nothing to complain about except the occasional spatially indifferent cyclist who thinks that grazing innocent pedestrians is sport. There's a worthwhile detour onto San Rafael Avenue that will get you up close and impersonal with Belvedere's exclusive waterfront real estate. The walk back to your car is just as good as the walk to Tiburon. Just don't let all the surrounding privilege get you down. RELATED - Up for a hike?
