Thanks to Yelp for suggesting this as a nearby place for a walk, as I had never been in the 12 years I have lived in Marin! We were having a lazy Sunday morning watching TV and decided we should get outside for some fresh air. We didn't feel like walking a lot since the weather was warm, so we happily found 2 Adirondack chairs in the shade at the park. The views of the Bay were gorgeous and it was the perfect spot to read our books. There was plenty of space for neighboring groups to spread out, so we liked the chill, non touristy, and quiet environment. We are already planning to picnic there with a friend and her little one. read more

This is a really cool local park kind of out-of-the-way so there's not a lot of people there quiet with great views of the bay large open fields to run around barbecue and picnic tables, bathrooms, etc. plenty of parking. There is also a public fishing pier there which you do not need a fishing license to use. I have spent time at this park also anchored out in my boat in front of it coming to shore by kayak. read more

I used to work as a ranger assistant here. I'd say it's one of Marin's best kept secrets. Though we have some busy weekends in the summer, it is rather quiet and peaceful outside of that time. A few things to note: -check the webpage for Paradise before leaving. Our open times change seasonally and Google does not always reflect this. -dogs are not allowed here. -you can fish on the pier without a license :) -we have picnic areas and on weekends reservations are recommended, but they are otherwise first come, first serve and in the off season, it's not too difficult to snag one! -parking can fill up in the summer months so come early! -careful on the beach, there is sea glass down there. I've found a couple of shards from vintage Clorox bottles. Pretty neat. :) Paradise boasts a fabulous view of the Richmond Bridge and the surrounding bay. Though the park is not west facing, you get a dazzling view that includes vibrant hues of pink, orange, and yellow reflecting from the sun setting to the west of the park on clear nights. It is also a great place to photograph full moons, assuming there's enough visibility prior to closing. We have a resident great blue heron, red shouldered hawk, and a couple of cute seals. Some of my best friends during my time here. There are some incredibly kind rangers working here, be sure to ask them questions about the park and its history! read more

Came here for a picnic family gathering and really love how clean the park is. Must have patience on windy road to the park, but it's quite worthwhile once you arrive. Try to be there early before noon for the limited parking and parking is free too. The restrooms are huge and kept cleaned as well. This is a beautiful spot to be! Period. Just grab picnic, books and fishing rod if you are in to it.. but this is a beautiful place and regardless of what props you bring to enjoy, you will love every minute spent here. Due to Covid, the picnic benches are locked up but there is plenty of green patch to sit on. Just keep a look out for those bird droppings almost everywhere in the park, but there are still spots you can sit without worrying about that and with views. There were some spring blooms in the area so we had to take some pictures... it was an idyllic spring afternoon. The restrooms are very clean! Parking is $5, daily. I've been to this park twice now and really like it. Fishing and crabbing from the pier is fun. Lots of Dungeness and Red Rock crabs. Dungeness is catch and release, no harvesting. Red Rock size limit. Didn't catch anything but saw several Striped bass and smelt being caught. Pulled my cart up the hill twice now. Very hard but I am up to the challenge. I made a harness system for my next visit. If you know, you know. Ranger Steve is super friendly and knowledgeable. All positive reviews are spot on. After spending my birthday alone in 2020, I would have been perfectly satisfied to spend my 2021 birthday in a boring place with one interesting person. Instead, I got the luxury of hanging out with my brother's family and my cousins on a near weather-perfect day at Paradise Beach Park in Tiburon. There was still plenty of masking and social distancing going on at the time, but it felt almost regular to be picnicking on the grass with people again. There's not much of a beach, but there's lots of park, which skews the rating a bit (for the better) because I'm more of a park person than I am a beach person. The parking lot is pretty small, and you do have to pay (boo!), but it's definitely worth the hike-and-haul with your stuff down and back up the hill. The fishing pier is pretty cool, if only from a design perspective. There's nothing particularly creative about it, but it just seems like a lot of work for what it is. The view of the bay and the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge is spectacular. read more

Lovely park. It was very clean. I was impressed. Parking was reasonable. The pier was clean. There are lots of amenities, chairs, grills, benches, and faucets. There is a fish cleaning station on the pier. I saw 4 deer walking through the park. It was a serene morning and I enjoyed connecting with nature. Some people swim in the bay waters, which were choppy that morning. There is a small beach area with a rough shoreline. There was a hazard sign stating there is broken glass in the sand. Overall the park was well-maintained. There was a groundskeeper performance maintenance. I would definitely return when I revisit Marin County. read more

Now, this was a surprise find for me and my family! A nice regional park in Tiburon. Parking is $10; more expensive than the East Bay but you can't get views like this! I can tell this is a popular park especially, on warm days in the East Bay. It was a little hazy or foggy when we came due to the big fire up north but still visible to see the San Rafael bridge. There is limited parking here. There is plenty of grass to pitch up a canopy and have a picnic. They do provide some bench seating but there is a limit. I didn't see a beach or I did see patches of sand by the water but not to say this was an actual beach to see the waves unless I missed it? They do provide ok bathrooms. There is a pier to fish and saw some get some decent size fish; not sure what kind they were though. I can definitely see my family come back here for a day picnic. We will have to plan something for the family before the warm weather is gone! [98/100] read more

This park is beautiful! The grounds are very well maintained and I love their group picnic areas. Yesterday my business, Picnic Potential had a client picnic for 30 as well as a smaller client picnic and this location was perfect for both. However, the beautiful views, sparkling clean bathrooms and fun areas of Adirondack chairs Are not what inspired this review. The very best part of this park are the rangers. Today we worked a lot with Audrey and Steve and they were both amazing. They helped us locate our spot and kept checking in to see if we needed anything. At the end of the picnic they used their two utility vehicles to help us bring all supplies up to the parking area. Even though it was about their time to be off they were both so good spirited and helpful and I super appreciate it. We will definitely be recommending this location to more clients. read more

Free parking every first Saturday, and then it is $5 per vehicle (I think). The grounds seem fairly large, with a hiking trail nearby. Tables with grills can be reserved in advance. Four stars instead of five because pets are not allowed. read more

A nice park with beautiful views and a roomy fishing pier! Parking is expensive at $10 for all day, so I usually only go up here on "A-days" in Marin County--free parking on the first Saturday of each month. You can catch halibut, jacksmelt, leopard sharks, bat rays, perch, rockfish, and striped bass at the pier. It was somewhat crowded the first time I went, but not shoulder-to-shoulder by any means. There is a fish cleaning station and some rod holders built into the pier. Overall, very scenic; I'd come here more often if the parking was a bit cheaper :) read more

This place is beautiful. The pier is open for the public to fish and you don't need a fishing license to be able to fish here. With that being said, lots of people fish here. People who fish here like to have multiple poles...and I mean more than 2. They also like to leave multiple fishing poles around the pier so it makes it really hard for someone with a single pole to fish anywhere to avoid getting caught in someone else's line. Other than the usual shark and stingray Marin County tends to offer, this pier offers jacksmelt, halibut, and other sea critters. There are lots of picnic benches available for use. Park rangers/park recreation are always on duty. No pets allowed into the park besides service animals. This park is home to a group of deers. They are often seen out in the grassy area eating throughout the day. read more

The park was open today, a nice family was having there lunch and fun time there too on a nice big picnic blanket. I noticed that the park benches were missing though, because of Covid-19, but people were still walking about, eating their lunch on a picnic blanket and fishing by the water too. When I think of Tiburon I think of Blackie's Pasture and the waterfront walking path that takes me along the bay with views of San Francisco. Although there's no natural swimming area along the Blackie's path it doesn't negate the loveliness. A walk on that path is an immediate 5 star experience. When I think of Paradise Beach County Park, another waterfront Tiburon park only a few miles away, I don't think of anything like that. This park has an entirely different thing going on: no walking path, no City views, no pets, and a $10 parking fee... why would anyone come here? I've slipped in here before, when the ranger booth is unattended, bypassing the parking fee, but on this visit I stayed longer. A friend had reserved the Bayside picnic area for a birthday party which isn't a bad idea but it becomes markedly worse when the lot fills up and you're stuck parking roadside about 1/2 mile away. I don't mind walking but the road shoulder here is quite marginal. Still, I lived to tell. The Bayside picnic area accommodates a lot of guests, is waterfront adjacent, and backed up by a large grassy area with many shade trees. The whole place, right down to the park's restrooms, is immaculate; this 'aint no city park. And, icing on the cake? It was 10 degrees cooler here than at my Ross Valley home. You can fish here, off a very large pier that juts out into the bay. Yelper David S. said that you can fish license-free here. I trust him but as I learned while working in the software industry (possibly the only thing I learned), "trust, but verify". There's a beach to swim from as well, but it's not a very good looking beach (not dirty, just unattractive). Your heart will catch a bit in your throat when you first spot this place and if you can slip in without the parking fee (or if you have an annual parks pass) it's a pretty spot for a hot day. It's even a good spot for a carpooling, public transit-friendly group. All that said though, I prefer Blackie's where my dog is welcome, I've never had a problem parking for free, and I can stare at the Golden Gate Bridge instead of an oil refinery. I can't fish or swim there but I still prefer it. Paradise Beach County Park is not a bad spot, it's just that I have a better spot already. read more

You know those people perched at that primo picnic table in Golden Gate Park on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon with like 20 friends and a mini-festival of gourmet foods and lawn sports going on? How do they do that? Are they the picnic masters, or did they just get lucky? In my experience, picnics have to be planned ahead, and then fingers kept crossed for good attendance, a good table, and of course good weather, which is usually not too much to ask for in the Bay Area, except of course on the day your picnic is. Sigh. So instead of sunbathing in the grass we got to huddle around the charcoal grill for warmth (and man, every bite of hot food tastes soooo good when you're freezing your butt off all day). But I can't blame that on Paradise Park, which is certainly one of the choicest spots around for picnics, for several reasons: 1) There's dozens and dozens of picnic tables, so they don't run out too fast. Almost all have grills, and very few of them are in a bad spot. Plus, if you have a big group, you can make reservations (though it costs $$$). 2) It's on the bay, with a fishing pier and a sweeping view of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge (so it's not the Golden Gate, but still). 3) Two huge meadow areas to accommodate all the croquet, bocci, frisbee, badminton, volleyball, or kite flying you could dream of. 4) Well-staffed and well-maintained, thanks to that $8 you plunked down for parking. One caveat: be sure to call ahead and make sure a wedding or some such hasn't booked the whole place. read more

A picture perfect spot for a Bay Area wedding - that is actually right on the bay. Photo backdrop possibilities included gorgeous water, a dock, beautiful trees and flowers and the San Rafael Bridge. Cost was a couple hundred bucks for a large lawn that is directly on the water and several adjacent BBQ/picnic areas - a real steal compared to the likes of any of the Presido, and the people were very helpful and easy to work with. The only downsides are the parking costs and the fickle bay weather can kick up a bunch of wind without warning - and that wind can be cold. Otherwise it's absolutely perfect for a wedding or a picnic for two and most other things in between. read more

$10 parking fee goes pretty far here. There is a decent beach, and open area to hang out, a very large fishing pier where you do not need a license to fish. There is ample parking but it does fill up on occasion. Especially on holiday weekends. One of the biggest benefits is the fishing without a license. Not that getting a license is very hard or very expensive, maybe $50, but provides a huge pier in an area known to have a lot of fish. It's quite a walk down a fairly steep hill to get to the beach. Make sure that whatever you're taking with you that you can walk back up the hill. read more

Beautifully landscaped park with wonderful views of the water, picnic tables and grills spread out enough where you're not on top of the neighboring groups. Enough space to run around, play football, catch, etc. The winding curvy road leading to the park is a tough drive and a bit out of the way, but once you're there the scenic views make it all worth it. Since it's by the water, I could imagine it could get cold and windy at times. It could also get really muddy right after a heavy rain. A friend of mine threw a bbq here for 30+ people, so she paid the $100 fee to reserve a spot. Sounds expensive, but it is a much cheaper alternative than going to a restaurant or getting food catered for a party. Plus, it gives people more of a chance to mingle, come and go as they please, and do various activities. It also beats going to the picnic area at 9AM to beat the crowds and ensure a spot. Minus 1 star since no dogs are allowed and you have to pay for parking. But I guess that's what makes this park a little less crowded and cleaner than most. So if you're willing to pay a little extra for a relaxing and semi-private picnic bbq then Paradise Beach County Park is the perfect spot! read more

I love this park. We drive out here from Sac once a year just for Father's Day. It's a great park for a picnic because the lawns are so soft, and you have an amazing view of the bay. I could sit or lay down, and watch the boats/ ships go by for hours. Sometimes it can be very chilly, so bring a hoodie or a light jacket. Bring a kite, too. There are plenty of tables available, most of them have bbq pits. The tables closer to the water are usually the chillier spots; but the view is great. Very clean bathrooms, and an overall tidy park. For $8 dollar parking, you get tall trees, soft grass, open space, relaxing views, and a pleasant crowd. Not bad, right? No dogs allowed, though. That might be a negative for some people. read more

Paradise beach is one of the places I love to go. If you like quality calm time and would like to go for fishing, swimming or just sit somewhere and enjoy the nature and the sun, paradise beach is the place you need to go. The place is mostly not busy because it is far from the city that makes it very calm and enjoyable unless if you like lots of people then I'd suggest you to find another busy park. Beautful park with a nice pier for looking and fishing. Caught a leopard shark out here using squid. Not many bites overall though. The place is beautifully maintained with nice grass, lots of picnic tables (which apparently can be reserved), and bbq grills. Overall great spot. Came out this morning and stayed for 5 hours til about 1130am and not another person besides the groundskeeper came out. Oh, and yes, parking is $10, so a minus for that. but it keeps the crowds away I imagine. read more

Decided to come here for Mother's Day for the First time and it had a nice view and great space with a nice open field of grass. They also had picnic tables for bbq-in and a beach, but it was too nippy so we shall save that for our next trip back. They do charge a $10 parking fee and the lot was really small but the park ranger Jay i think Malo possibly the last name was super sweet and welcoming. No dogs allowed unless you have your service dog... and luckily Mr.Gizmo is. We didnt really get to explore the area but the staff and what we did experience was lovely. Finally somebody pick up and told me to call back and ask for Diane. Few hours later i called back and Diane answer. With the attitute and screaming, without any explanation her answer was - you need to make sure, thats exactly what you want. I am not sure if it's always like this as this was our first time at the park, but we will definitely come back. Beautiful park to host barbeques. We've been here twice and had an amazing time both times. Many barbeque area with pits, benches/tables, and trees to block the sun. There's also a pier that you can catch fish/crab from. You can grill whatever you catch there however no baby crabs and you cannot bring it home. Large grassy area to play sports and run around. There's also a nice groundskeeper that helped transport all of food, utensils, crab nets/cage, and whatever else down to the barbeque area. Luckily, he was also there at end of the day to help us transport stuff back up to the car. Cons: - Parking fee of $10. Highly suggest carpooling. - Toll fee for us SF folks. - Long and windy road before access to the park. - Close at 5:30pm which can be early during the spring/summer time. We had our rehearsal dinner here the night before our wedding (not actually a rehearsal dinner, since we didn't rehearse anything and all the guests were invited....). We wanted to be able to invite all of our guests, so we were looking for a way to keep costs down. Parking is definitely expensive for a park, but for a rehearsal dinner....paying $8 for a car of 2-4 people is nothing compared to meals at a restaurant. We also wanted a casual place where it would be easy to mingle with everyone -- sometimes at a restaurant, it's hard to talk to people sitting further away. Paradise Beach Park was exactly what we were looking for. A beautiful spot, inexpensive for a rehearsal dinner, and fun for everyone to mingle, play frisbee after dinner, etc. If anyone is looking for an inexpensive wedding spot, I think this would be a great one - a beautiful location and you can definitely keep the costs way down. read more

Just visited Paradise Park/Beach for the first time. Important to note that dog are not allowed even if you may have seen some pics on the website. That is the only downfall. Special shout our to J who was a super kind ranger and gave us a nice talk about pets on the grounds. I'd give this place 5 stars if the parking fee wasn't $8. Sorry, but that's a little steep for an afternoon picnic spot. Then again, it could not be a park and instead be the ubiquitous Tiburon home hung on a rock face and that would not be so much fun. So, we'll pay the $8. Great views of the bay, you can catch glimpses of ships moving in and out along the shipping channels. Nice open spaces, you can stretch out on a big lawn, or you can take a picnic table under a nice shady oak tree. When you're in the mood you can take a stroll down to the rock beach and skip a stone. I'm a fitness instructor in San Francisco but have many clients who live in Belvedere. I always encourage them to get outside and exercise.
