I do not recommend Fisher Vet. The practice is run in a very questionable manner and their billing practices are consistently deceptive. When I've tried to address my concerns with employee Dan he's had a terrible attitude. Dan's attitude comes as no surprise, as today I tried to address my concerns with the owner, Dr. Fisher, himself, who was rude, combative, defensive and unprofessional to the say the least. When the owner behaves the way Dr. Fisher did, it's no wonder employees like Dan feel empowered to behave rudely and disrespectfully to customers, as well. This business is a racket operating under the guise of "veterinary hospital" and should be investigated by Wake County. read more

I have never seen a veterinary clinic run the way this one is run, You can't even go inside with your pet. It's almost like they're hiding something. I took my nine-year-old terrier there for teeth cleaning. They extracted five teeth. They didn't tell me beforehand he had that many teeth to extract. I brought him home that evening. He died at 6:30 AM the next morning as far as I'm concerned, they killed my dog. They assured me his heart was OK but then they told me that his little heart just couldn't take it and it took the Vet two days to call me back, I don't know if I'll ever get over this. I just hope my dog wasn't suffering that night. I was up sitting with him petting him all night long he never went to sleep. It was a horrific experience.. I guess I have to give him one star for it to post this. I wish there was no stars. And they charged me $687.00, and did not even offer a refund. I think my dog was over sedated. I should've known something was wrong when they called me at 2 o'clock that day and told me he did fine but wait till 5 o'clock to pick him up. read more

Started out pretty well, ended extremely poorly. To keep things brief: 1. Instead of talking to me like a normal human being, he apparently had his groomer call my father to have him tell me I wasn't to bring my dog in. The reason being that my dog had suddenly lunged at another while in the waiting room - very surprising but I learned my lesson to keep her right beside me in such situations from there on out But his groomer. Calling my father. I'm 30 and had actually chosen the place myself, and it was my dog - it certainly wasn't my first time there either. That whole scenario was so ridiculous and demonstrated such a degree of spinelessness that I'm impressed either could stand. Be a man, it's OK if you felt what my dog did to be out of bounds. but how about either calling ME or telling ME to my face that was the case. Talk about pathetic Now on to the real stuff: 2. We brought our older dog here for nearly a decade. Despite the above, I still thought Dr. Fisher was a good vet (and hoped it was just his pathetic groomer guy) - but when the older dog had to go, they just laid a blanket on an examination table and generally acted like we were wasting their time (it was wonderful having both the groomer guy and the vet in there, really, just great.) I didn't have anything to compare it to until my other dog died a few years later 3. The comparison. My younger dog, the one that lunged at another dog, had seemed out of sorts for several weeks. He was taken in twice, if memory serves, given his lack of interest in food, lack of interest in walks, lethargy, difficulty standing up. Just an infection apparently! A few days later a giant hemiangiosarcoma in her stomach burst and she died in an emergency clinic that evening. Where they gave us a private room, brought us blankets and water, and were truly some of the most commendably considerate individuals I've ever met. They let us stay there for over an hour with zero complaints - I even asked. They explained the procedure, what would happen, even teared up with the family. Essentially the exact opposite of the sad joke of an euthanasia procedure over at Fisher's. Yes that sort of tumor can be difficult to catch, but his symptoms matched those I later looked up to the very word. So instead of at least a warning, we had to rush him to an animal hospital at midnight. At least that passing was as good as you can possibly expect such an event to be. I'm no longer sure this man is a good vet, and his staff is definitely awful (and it's not just.... personal. I've met at least 3 other people with similar experiences). Go elsewhere, especially if your animal is elderly. A lot of suffering and sadness could have been at least ameliorated, but whether due to incompetence or simple laziness, it wasn't. After breeding my pug fell through I decided to spay her. Having had multiple friends' pugs die during spay & c-section from anesthesia complications I wrestled with what vet to trust. I felt my current one didn't have enough experience, pushed unnecessary vaxxes and had the revolving door of techs, some of whom pulled my pug's leg too hard in nail cutting and made her limp. I FINALLY FOUND DR. FISHER! He didn't push multiple parvo shots, an unnecessary blood test or a flu vax like my previous vet. And he was half the cost. His tech Dan is amazing-my pug went from shaking in my arms to wagging her tail in his. When someone has a way with animals you just know. Every time I called with questions I was never rushed by Dan. Dr Fisher's protocol is overnight stay and I know he felt it was to my pug's benefit that she stay but I just couldn't do it, I wanted to monitor her all night for complications. In hindsight I'm sure she would have been fine as well. I respect that Dr Fisher had my pug's best interest in mind as he should but he never pushed me or shamed me. This is important to me because my previous vet and techs didn't respect personal choice on vaxxes and shamed me despite knowing I had three dogs live to 17 so I'm not an inexperienced owner. Knowing my dog was going home and that pugs get crazy Dr Fisher closed up the incision extra well with stitches and staples too which I appreciate. He's knowledgeable, to the point and clearly loves animals. We love this vet and Dan! read more

Fisher Vet rocks. If you're looking for a place to take your favorite 4-legged pal, I recommend trying Dr. Fisher and his staff. They are great to deal with and are very happy to answer any questions. Dr. Fisher even returned my phone call after hours one night! He is a no-nonsense vet -- he believes in doing what's necessary for your pet's well being, but not pushing procedures, etc. that aren't needed. When you first visit the facility don't be alarmed that Fisher Vet is not the "Taj Mahal" of vet offices -- it's nothing fancy to look at; however, you will reap the benefit of that in the way of much more reasonable prices than other area vet offices. The vet owns the place, it's a one-man shop, and it's clean. Fisher Vet does boarding as well, but they are getting so busy in that regard that they're moving to a policy of "clients only" for boarding. My family and I have taken our dogs to doctor fisher since I was in second grade and I am now 20. I got my own dog, Daisy, my senior year of high school for some extra emotional support during a rough time so the majority of her care has been on me and there was no doubt as to who I wanted her vet to be. Covid made the appointments a little more nerve-wracking since we haven't been able to be in the room for check-ups since but I whole heartedly trust Dr. Fisher. I trust Dr. Fisher and his staff because I saw the way they treated my family dog, Ziggy, before Covid. Dr. Fisher would give my family dog the biggest doggy kisses which may seem weird to some but I could tell Ziggy loved it and knew that Dr. Fisher cared. The staff also knows every dog by name and has always talked to us like they were a friend watching our dogs for a little bit when we boarded. I feel bad that I don't know the name of one of the vet techs but Ziggy and Daisy absolutely adore him along with the rest of my family. This tech always makes sure we know that our dogs are cared for no matter if we send them for boarding or vet visits. I can also hear the excitement in his voice when I tell him that I'm bringing in Daisy. I also love taking Daisy here to get groomed because they are one of the only places that can actually clip her nails and their shampoo smells amazing! The only thing is that I wish they had slightly better hours and a wider emergency window, but that's just one thing that is easily outweighed by the rest of the amazing things I have experienced using this vet. read more

Dr. Fisher is a special person . He cares about both the animals and his clients . I drive 45 mins to bring my animals to this clinic . His fees are reasonable. He understands that not everyone can go into debt to care for their beloved pets . I consider him a friend and I trust him without reservation when it comes to my pet's health . The ONLY reason I am not giving him 5 stars is that his OTHER CAREER of showing dogs means that he is not as available as I would like and sometimes NEED . We have been going to this Vet for ten years. We drive 45 mins to take our dogs and cats to this office . Our prior experience with local vets is they all assume their clientele are wealthy . Dr. Fisher has all the patients he needs so if you are high maintenance this may not be the place for you to go . He will not do any extras unless asked- so again this may not be your cup of tea if you are looking for a vet who does a routine number of labs each visit . At times he can seem sarcastic but he has a heart of gold . The office is not palatial. It is however extremely clean and odor free unlike a certain cat clinic elsewhere in the Triangle .We have never used them for grooming or boarding so I cannot speak to those services . Dr. Fisher's human clientele are devoted to him and for good reasons . If any of this sounds like your cup of tea then I highly rec. him. read more
