FishEx is by far the worst company I have ever had the misfortune of purchasing from. Multiple mishaps on their account including shipment to improper addresses and day long delays when dinner parties have been planned accordingly. To further my dismay, Fishex supervisors, especially Brandi, were extremely rude to me on the phone and I cannot believe I had to undergo that kind of disrespect from a "supervisor." She acted more like a bratty teenager than anyone who should be in a position of authority. I will never do business with this company again and I recommend no one else does either. read more

FishEx has improved a lot. I always had great quality seafood from them, but had previously taken issue with the way they shipped their crab legs. After learning that they changed methods for keeping the crab frozen during shipment, I got a shipment of their Captain's Reserve Red King Crab (which is always amazingly delicious) and the crab was perfectly frozen still and there was no mess with the packing materials. It is nice to know there's a good go-to for hard to find quality seafood. read more

Well I've been ordering regularly from FishEx for a while now and they can really be hit or miss with shipping issues. They have great seafood, but sometimes they don't package everything correctly. Sometimes the crab legs are separated from the fish order sometimes not. When they are not the crab spikes poke holes in the other packaging and I'll have to barrow one of those vacuum sealers from a friend to repackage. Also the shrimp prices are getting quite steep. :( read more

I have purchased crab legs and other items from Fish Ex for many years now. I have done a lot of research of companies to purchase from online and found them to be the best. Their crab legs are always fresh and the Captains reserve are huge! They are 2/3 to a full pound per leg! You can't get anything like that from the grocery stores. We purchase from them yearly. One crab leg can easily fill you up. You can't find any better than the quality of Fish Ex. Recommend highly. They also have wonderful scallops. read more

Ordered on line. That was easy, picked the date I wanted it shipped , again easy . Got the confirmation e-mail and it told the delivery date.( day after it left Alaska) . Totally misleading ads on website. Bought smoked salmon trio and was led to believe filet size was a little over 2 pounds. Thought that was per piece, however that was total weight for three pieces and when a put it on a scale it was slightly less than 2 pounds in total. That worked out to close to $27 a pound--way overpriced. Also they talk about fresh fish and freezing unused fish for later usage. Fish came frozen, and to refreeze would turn it into mush. Item was a gift and so I cannot judge quality, but was told it tasted about the same as what they buy in Costco for a fraction of the price Stay away from these people Update I was contacted recently by their manager and assured they had changed their listing on my order previously reviewed. As a show of good faith they provided a new replacement order at no cost. I applaud their customer service, and appreciate their efforts to keep customers. Their product is good, however, their prices are truly in the high range and one should be prepared to pay royally for their fish. read more

I have ordered from this company two times now. The first time the king crab was the best I have ever had!!! I placed a 2nd order and I was disappointed because it was not as fresh tasting as the first. I called them to discuss my order and they offered to reship my order. The replacement order I received was phenomenal!!! I fed several people that are all big "foodies" and everyone agreed it was the sweetest and best crab we had ever eaten! Thanks FishEx!!! Very unfortunate. This was my second time ordering and the first time went well and was on time. This time, the order was not shipped on date I choose and I still have not received. I was never notified by phone or email it had not shipped. I called a day later and they said it would ship next day. Nothing, so I opened a ticket/email to resolve issue. Still nothing and no response. I called again and was told there was an issue with bacon wrapped scallops. Again I was told it would ship the next day. From date of order, it is now going on the third week and the special occasion we ordered for has passed. I understand there are sometimes issues with shipping, but the fact they have not and are not contacting me at all to let me know what is going on, has become ridiculous. I have since cancelled order and requested full amount to be credited back to my card. read more

I have ordered from Fish Ex several times! They send out top notch product. The crab and shrimp is DELICIOUS I WILL ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN AND AGAIN!!! I saw some of the other reviews and I hate to point it out but these are crabs..... they are not prepared manufactured items that are pre weighed. I had one slight issue I called they immediately fixed it! Tyler is Awesome! !!! I WILL ORDER AGAIN. if you want all items the same, perhaps you should look into Krab with a K..... yummy white fish smashed into a mold to make it all the same weight and size. :) read more

If I could leave a 0 star, I would. I have never left a bad review online, but this company needs to be exposed. I ordered $1,000 of crab 2 weeks ahead of time for a company party. I called and verified the delivery date because I was weary of such an important shipment being done solely online. I was expecting the order on Thursday (party on Friday night), but got a call on Monday saying there was a delay BUT NOT TO BE CONCERNED, I would have my crab on Friday by noon. (Also of note, they told me that although their operation is in Alaska, the barge the crab was coming in from IN SEATTLE was delayed. Why couldn't/didn't I just get it from Seattle?!?) I expressed my concern that it was cutting it so close to the party, but they assured me continually that the order would arrive. I called on Thursday afternoon to make sure the shipment was being sent, and was told that although they had a "server crash" earlier in the morning, my order was placed so far in advance that they had a printout. In fact, my order "was on the loading dock getting ready to get on the UPS truck" and that I would be receiving a tracking number from UPS that night. When I never received such number, I started calling FishEx at 7am on Friday. When I finally got through close to 10am, I was told my order did not go out. So here I am, a crab boil/feed all planned out, decorated for, and ready to go with NO CRAB!!!! Even though I verified and was assured over and over. Imagine my anger and stress! Thank God for Costco who had more than enough King Crab legs, was 1/3 of the cost, delicious, and reliable. I will never use this company again and would advise against anyone else that is depending on their service. read more

In response to the owner comment: I'm glad to hear they have worked to fix the problem, however, the negative review was based on their poor response to my complaint. They were unaccommodating and the owner (not the reps) was just plain rude. The "threatening" they mention, was my inquiry for their correct address listing for the BBB. This was not a threat; it's my right as a customer to chose to go to the BBB for reviews on a service. Their address was listed differently on the BBB's website vs. their own, so I asked for a confirmation. I decided not to review on the BBB, feeling it was too harsh for the circumstance, and instead I reviewed here. I think their idea of a threat is kind of out of whack considering. Again, my previous orders were fine and the quality good, but the customer service on this last order was very disconcerting. As long as you don't have any issues with your order, they are probably fine. But I don't think it's asking too much for a business to acknowledge their mistake and work to fix it when problems do arise. read more

If there was a way to leave a negative star for FishEx in Alaska, that would convey how I felt about my experience with this terrible seafood distributor. The only thing worst than their mediocre crab legs is their lack of customer care. I purchased close to $200.00 for fresh Alaskan crab legs only to be shipped anemic, salty and tough poor excuse for crab legs. It was a terrible batch and don't even bother to express your dissatisfaction with their inventory. After 3 attempts and 2 weeks, I basically got the finger pointed back to me for improper preparation, which is comical as I am a chef. Save your money and your sanity....don't purchase anything from FishEx. You would get better quality seafood in the freezer section of your local market, at a better price!!! read more

Our $2,100+ order started with many issues. Our card got "declined" at least 2 times according to them, although our bank had NO issue and the money kept being withheld. Turning a $2,100 order into a $4,200+ hold, and we had to do all of the work with the bank to get it fixed rather than them just releasing the holds, which took several days as well. Make sure to have a fishing season chart BEFORE you purchase from them. They have items frozen for MONTHS before it is shipped to you unless it is a currently being fished. They will not tell you this and it is important because you LOSE those months of being able to keep them in your freezer before it all goes bad, and they will NOT replace it. We know this because we had at least $900-$1000 worth of fish go BAD within 3-4 month after receiving it although we were told it would last at least 6 months -1 year. As many of you already know, they will not even answer your emails unless it is to place another order. They do not like complaints or problems and those will be IGNORED! They do not seem to care about KEEPING customers, they spend their time getting them. IGNORE them when they tell you the fish will last 6 months plus, it does NOT and their vacuumed sealing is not the greatest. ALWAYS inventory your order IMMEDIATELY and if you are short, you will probably not be believed but do not let them get away with denying it, insist they provide you everything you paid for. You do not actually get things in actual pounds or half pounds, they are broken down into 3-8 pounce package's so you have to do the math when figuring out if you got an actual pound. We will be completely fair and say that when the fish is FRESH it is REALLY GOOD, but make sure it is IN SEASON and is FRESH and do NOT let it stay in the freezer more than 2.5-months because it will NOT last beyond that. Flash freezing it will NOT make it last longer. Over all I cannot say that I would recommend them due to the MANY issues and the fact that they will not do the right thing and will in fact LIE to get the sale. However, if you are just placing a small order and plan to eat the food quickly, it may not be bad seeing the shipping is good. Although their prices are higher than most so you are really paying for shipping in the price of each item. read more

I'm feeling cheated on my recent order from fishex, i purchased the high priced Captains Reserve crab legs which are advertised as being between 2/3 and a 1lb per piece and half of my order were legs that weighed well under the fabled 2/3lb cutoff. So much for impressing my friends (like they promise in their sales pitch), as they all had a good laugh at my expense for paying for shipping from alaska for something available around the corner at the chain supermarket! And then there was the ultimate disappointment when the quality of the crab ended up being awful! Good product but crappy customer service. I ordered Nov 23 for New Year's Eve dinner 9 lbs. of crab. Then on Dec 17th I discovered my party had grown so I called and ordered an additional 6 lbs. of the Captains Reserve.. totaling my bill to about $700. I asked for the additional order to be added to the original and shipped at the same time. I was assured it would be no problem. Dec 28th comes and only the initial 9 lbs arrives and I have 12 ppl coming for New Years. I call to find out they closed at 3 so I leave a detailed message expecting a call Sat am. No call, so I call again hoping to reach someone and explaining again what happened to some processor dude who said he was hanging until the girl got in but that he spoke with his shipping manager and they would ship the 6 lbs. Monday and the girl would call me. No call Saturday Or Sunday at which time I am frantically revamping my menu. Monday I finally get some gal who apologizes profusely, who says no additional order went out and that she would refund my money and get me a $50 gift certificate. What I wanted was CRAB and communication. My refund came through Jan 2 nd, no further communication or $50. When you spend this kind of money, there are other places to choose from that really WANT your business... I suggest you look elsewhere. read more

I have ordered from FishEx before. They sent an e-mail in April asking for pre-payment of order for Copper River Salmom on a first come first served basis because they run out fast and the product will no longer be available. They said the order will go out on the day of first catch, which was a lie. More than a month after this short fishing window I still receive e-mails telling me that FRESH Copper River is still available. I don't trust this company anymore, they have lied, I am not sure what they are sending is actually what was ordered. Their manager told me that she would refund the shipping charges as a courtesy - but that NEVER happened and calls and e-mails are never returned. Customer service is horrible. There are many good fisheries in Alaska. Time to look for another one. Don't waste your money here. read more

We started ordering from FishEx this year ... our local stores' crab qualities have been going downhill since 2015 (crab legs not that fresh, frozen/thawed multiple times, smaller and smaller) ... and our first FishEx crab shipments were all frozen -- very good tho when thawed and steamed. We just received these FRESH Opilio and Bairdi yesterday ... they arrived chilled as promised (some of the dry ice was still keeping them very cold after being shipped FedEx overnight) ... we had them last night ... and hands down were the BEST CRAB LEGS we've ever had -- period!!! Like most satisfied customers I typically don't write reviews when I have a great experience (usually just the ones with bad experiences -- like most consumers), but it was a pleasure dealing with FishEx -- from the ease of ordering online ... to excellent Customer Service when assisting in processing my credit card transaction (their merchant processing system has multiple safeguards, like the one that caught mine where some of the info didn't match -- no problem tho, they handled it manually and I was glad to experience that extra layer of protection) ... to the exceptional professionalism of their CS agents taking the extra step(s) to ensure complete customer satisfaction ... and finally to the unmatched QUALITY of the FRESH products received -- reminds me of a slogan from one of the top seafood restaurants in our area, 'If it ain't FRESH ... it ain't LEGAL' -- just can't beat FRESH from FishEx! read more

Most unpleasant exprience with this business. I called today August 3, 2011 to place an order today and spoke to Mary. Mary claimed my card did not go through as she put wrong zip code. Claimed fraud alert. I went online and saw charge authorized. Called Mary back. she then said my zip code entitled a cheaper rate. She tried card 3 more times and said it declined. Then she told me to call my bank which I did and they said charge was fine. Mary said she would not process my order even though bank said everything was okay. She said she wanted to talk to my bank for clearance. I contacted the bank again and they said they would only talk with her with me on the line so to do a conference call. Mary called back and said she would do conference. So I told her to go ahead and make the call and we could clear the matter up. Then she panicked and said she didn't have conference calling that "they" took it away from her. So guess what? I made the call from my phone and everytime I connected her to the bank she would hang up or not respond. Finally having had enough, I called my bank told them to cancel the authorization. The bank of course explained that it had already been authorized and that if they presented payment they would have to honor it. Mary called me back and said she had called my bank and tried to speak to them but they would not- which is what the bank told me in the first place and which she already knew. As politely as I could manage I told her this didn't seem like a very reputable business and that I refused to be bullied or victimized by this type of behavior, to cancel this "order" immediately and that I just better not find a charge on my card. Now that the FRESH Red King Crab season is underway we wanted to try them along with FishEx's available year-round Opilio and Bairdi snow crab clusters/legs (typically 'fresh frozen') to see if there's much of a difference. We ordered and got them last week ... definitely the Red King Crab are the BEST and we'd never had them before FRESH! -- well worth the money, but the snow crabs came in a close 2nd with their own unique taste -- exceptionally sweet and tender. FishEx's prices are still very much on the high side, but like anything that's excellent, 'you get what you pay for'; and, we're planning to have both (Red King & snow crab clusters/legs) for the holidays so we'll be looking on their site regularly for large quantity special pricing -- with FishEx this crab season (based on what we just received) they're shipping out 'the best/finest Alaska has to offer' from that "Deadliest Catch" fleet. read more
