Incredible afternoon of fishing in Martha's Vineyard. With a gentle touch and deep knowledge of the area, Captain Kurt Freund found the perfect fishing spot for our group of 4 to reel in blue fish and sea bass. We're novice fisherman (at best), so we started with trolling to build our confidence. The fish were practically jumping into the boat. Kurt was awesome. We left the dock around 715 and were fishing by 745. Caught some Black Sea bass, scup and fluke, then the blues were on! Great teacher, patient, awesome boat. Hands down the best fishing charter I have ever been out on. Captain Kirk was incredibly informative and knowledgeable about the fishing areas where we went out and called a bunch of striped bass and Blues. Pricing is very reasonable for the half-day trips and I believe he processes the fish that you catch if you want as well at the end of the charter. We opted for catch-and-release because we were staying at a bed-and-breakfast and had no way to cook the fish out for dinner. If you're in the area and looking for a fishing charter this is definitely the one that go with. I will definitely use him again if I'm ever back in Vineyard Haven. read more

This was our first time chartering a boat with our 8 year old and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Captain Kurt was the best!!! He was a great teacher, very patient and he knew how to find the fish. We caught a variety of fish (Black Sea Bass, Blue fish, sea robin, scup and squid). We kept 7 large sea bass for dinner that night! Captain Kurt cleaned them for us. The boat was a great size and comfortable. We started our trip with a tour of it to know where extinguishers, flares, medical kits etc. were located. Lucky enough to have perfect weather that day. Will definitely book Fishsticks again!!!! read more

Ive not taken a charter with Fishsticks, but I can provide my experience with this boat & its Captain. While out on the water fishing myself on a drift, i turned around to see a fishing boat coming right at me - there were probably 5 passengers on the boat. I thought the captain would see me, and would turn, but he did not, until he was about 40ft off my stern and i hit the horn. He ran over my gear causing quite the mess, never mind the heart attack, and drove off just waving like it was no big deal. Not sure how the charter itself is, whether the captain puts his passengers on any fish - but this was a major safety concern and honestly, pretty rude he did not stop after knowingly running straight over my gear. This was a area where many boats were drifting & trolling and he was full throttle through the fishing grounds. Things happen on the water, and as a captain myself I know how important it is to pay attention all the time. This is a major concern for the safety of his passengers and those around him on the water. read more
