Full Intensity Training: For more than four years, I spent nearly two hours a day, six to seven days a week at a "big box" gym. I followed detailed lifting plans* from bodybuilding .com, religiously tracking every exercise, set count, rep count and weight. I counted every micronutrient to the gram using a food scale and MyFitnessPal. And compared my calorie intake, versus my burn, using a BodyBugg. The success I made on my own (being a self-motivated, obsessive-compulsive, extremely dedicated individual) does not compare to the results I achieved after joining F.I.T. With just an hour a day (consisting of warm-up, weight training, conditioning and cool down sessions), I noticed a significant improvement in my health. I lost weight, gained strength and much to my surprise, developed conditioning / cardio-resistance that I do not believe I had even as a teenager. Dare I say that at "middle-age", I've become an athlete? That may be a bit of a stretch, but like the old Bowflex commercials, "I'm (45) and I'm in the best shape of my life." Give it a shot and give it some time. It takes 1-3 months of (what seems like grueling) conditioning, until one day it suddenly isn't so hard. And once you've come out on the other side, while you will STILL be challenged daily, you'll know with confidence that you can do it. And afterwards, with a smile on your face and a feeling of accomplishment, you'll get high fives and fist bumps all around. I'm so glad I joined the "FIT Fam" 'cause at F.I.T., it feels like family. I have been attending this gym for about one year now. I don't do yelp reviews often, but I believe it's possible a review of this gym may help someone who is in the same situation as I was. I have been a weightlifter pretty much all of my life. I focused mainly on packing on pounds and trying to look bigger. As life went on and I got a bit older I hit a point in my life where I was unable to work out for a couple years. As a result, I became very musclebound, not flexible, completely out of shape, and felt tired/ miserable all of the time. The biggest issue was that I would pull my back frequently during squats, deadlifts, or cleans. I would feel a pinch in my lower right back and drop to the floor, then stand up sideways for about 5 days until it loosened up. When things changed and I had an opportunity to start working out again, this gym was recommended to me by a friend. There are several instructors; they all are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I quickly realized the majority of lifting I have done throughout my life was not beneficial to my overall fitness and most of the time I was using improper technique. When I first started working out here I would pull my back deadlifting less than 135 pounds. I was weighing close to 290 pounds, I could not come close to touching my toes, and I had difficulty making it through even one workout. Part of me felt that too much time had gone by, I had some type of herniated disc issue that would never heal, and I would never be in decent shape again. However, as time went on, I developed a lot of faith and confidence in the coaches. The staff here, especially Erik and Andrew, are obviously very knowledgeable. Moreover, they lead by example and are physically fit themselves. They encouraged me to remain consistent and customized my workouts to help me increase my flexibility and lose body fat. I have remained consistent, and spent the extra money to attend numerous one on one sessions with Erik Diaz. The results have been extremely positive. I am much more flexible, I have lost somewhere in the area of 30 pounds of body fat. I went from being in pain all day every day to no pain at all. I have added over 100 pounds to my squat and dead lift sets and no longer experience pulled back muscles (). If you're quality of life is suffering due to being out of shape, an injury, or both, I suggest you join this gym. If you stay consistent, your quality of life will improve. read more

This gym is seriously the best gym I've ever been to. The staff, facility, and community is incredible here. The trainers genuinely care about members learning proper strength training & want to see each and everyone succeed. The owner Andrew is motivating and encouraging! He's the type of coach that will text you & call you out for not showing up to classes for a while. Nick is an awesome trainer with a hilarious sense of humor, he somehow manages to make all of us grumpy 5am-ers laugh & feel happy to be there. Heather, Stephen, and Jordan are all also amazing at their job and put a lot of effort into their classes. Katie at the front desk is super sweet & welcoming as well! Attended two classes as a "walk-in" over the Christmas holidays and absolutely loved this gym! Andrew, the head coach and owner, is a knowledgeable and very enthusiastic coach. The workouts were very challenging, but Andrew was fully engaged throughout the workout monitoring all the class members and providing an appropriate push where needed. 1 year later, and we still think joining FIT is the best decision we've made since we moved to Brea. FIT has consistently pushed us to be our best, physically and mentally. The coaches continue to be amazing, and this year they have worked closely with us through some injuries, taking care to adjust workouts as needed. We still attend the group classes, but over the past 8 weeks we have stated personal training with coach Erik Diaz in order to get our bodies "wedding ready." We have noticed a huge change in both strength and stamina when we get back to the group class - working with Erik has taken our training to a new level. I can go on forever how great FIT Brea is because it is more than just a gym. It's a tight knit community full of wonderful people. Every time I walk through the door it is the greatest feeling because I am greeted by the most cheerful people and everyone is happy to be there and that gets me hyped for the workout. I have signed up for personal training sessions at big gyms before and from my experience the trainers that I have encountered were not very knowledgeable and could care less about you're overall health. Once I came to FIT Brea I immediately felt comfortable because the trainers communicate well and they genuinely care about your well-being. If I could not handle a specific exercise, intensity, or body movement then they would adjust to ensure my safety yet we still make progress and push on when possible. This gym has changed my life for the better in so many ways. I've always been in decent shape but really decided to dedicate myself to getting healthier and more fit back in 2017, and although I thought I was signing up for a gym, I found a home and a community of people who support and push you to always be better than yesterday. The gym itself is large and open, focusing mainly on strength and cross training, high intensity circuits but also offers one on one, semiprivate training in addition to classes plus mobility and yoga classes (an unexpected favorite for me)!
