I was referred to Brian at Fit Defined by a friend almost a year ago. From the beginning, Brian custom-tailored a workout plan to fit my needs and limitations. I'm heading into my senior years and had never exercised on a regular basis, so I definitely wasn't in shape, and I had zero knowledge about how to get started. Brian started at the beginning with me and quickly recognized I had limited range of motion in my shoulders as well as some other limitations. He realized some equipment and exercises were better suited for me than others. With his guidance, I made progress every week, and I always feel a sense of accomplishment after every workout. He takes the time to demonstrate the proper mechanics and form on each piece of equipment or exercise, and explains the purpose and goal of each one. He's very careful to ensure I don't get injured, and keeps close tabs on how I'm feeling during each portion of the workout. He encourages me to up my game on each exercise but lets me decide what I'm comfortable with and how much I want to push myself. I almost always accept the challenge and achieve new personal bests on a regular basis. I've come a long way since my first visit and I'm proud of myself for what I've accomplished in the last year at Fit Defined with Brian's expertise. I love this place! The personal training is great and curated to what my goals are. My goals were to gain overall strength because before I couldn't lift at all. Now I'm lifting up to 105lbs! What I also love is that they are flexible and understanding of your schedule, which as a student is amazing. TL;DR: My experience has been great thus far! My PT Brian is super supportive and knowledgeable which is great since I am sort of new to all of this. Victor is another PT that you will always find energetic and smiling. This place is very beginner friendly, and the trainers work with you on your body goals! I am 2 months in and would definitely recommend! Longer Version Introduction Session: I messaged through Yelp, and Victor answered and informed me of all the necessary information needed before going to the gym (e.g., scheduling, prices). On my first day of orientation, I met PT Brian, and he helped break down how our workouts would go. He was super friendly and encouraging as we talked about my goals and future workout routines. It was also nice to see many people of various different ages here all trying their best to workout! Usual Workout: My usual workout begins with a light warm up of using something like the stair climber to get the blood moving. This is about a 5-minute warm up, so I try to get there 5 minutes before my scheduled time. That way I can spend the full hour with my trainer working out. I like how I can ask to do certain workouts, or my trainer will have a preplanned workout routine. Regardless, I always feel like I am getting a good workout when I go each time. Usually, we do 3 sets and 12 reps for different. Some of the unique equipment is nice because I have not seen some of them at other gyms. Sanitizing: I tried out another gym once upon of time, and the one thing I hated was when people would sweat all over machines and not clean or wipe the area. Luckily here, my PT always cleans the equipment before I use them. Personal Trainer: Brian has been great at supporting me through the workout journey. He makes an effort to check my nutrition, make sure that I am not hurting myself in exercises, and overall, push me to perform my best. Now: I am 2 months in, and I can tell that my body has had some changes. Some of my friends have noticed too! My body does feel better and more energetic, which is great! I am still a bit away from my goal, so I think I will continue to come here until I meet said goal. I want to start by disclosing that these 3 stars are a representation of my very brief interaction with the owner, Victor Tran & his display of respect, professionalism, & courtesy with regard to customer service in a business setting. The main reason I'm taking off 2 stars has nothing to do with Victor or anything about the business/gym itself but EVERYTHING to do with the trainer that I unfortunately was paired with. Messaged the business on 1/7/24 here on Yelp to gather some information (program options, pricing, contract, cancellation policies, etc). Victor replied quickly & disclosed to me the packages that they offer. Which included an orientation workout to assess my goals & workout plans moving forward. My orientation workout on 1/13 with my assigned trainer, Brian Quinn & before anything even started or we even met, I already got a bad vibe. He had texted me the night prior reminding me that workout was at 7am & dude didn't even arrive until 7:10am. Then we had to go into the office & he had to fill out a questionnaire about my goals, why I wanted to do this, etc. All in all, it was nearly 7:20 by the time he had me workout & by 7:50, he ended it, got me back in the office & gave me a flyer for pricing & QR code for Victor's Venmo & Zelle & said if I was interested in signing up, to proceed with payment. Initially I was confused at how fast the orientation workout ended as Victor had told me it'd be 40-50 mins. In the end, I decided to let it go. Tuesday morning came & I ended up having to postpone as I had a stomach issue due to possible food poisoning as I had poke for dinner the night before & the entire night every hr from 11pm onwards to about 5am, I was going to the restroom like crazy. Texted Brian at 6am to postpone & he responded as if I had planned to miss the workout (6th picture). Once we finally got the 1st session in on 1/19, I was told by Brian to get there earlier at 6:50 to warm up but when I got there, he was still with another customer so I had to wait till 7am & then he ended it by 7:40, again cutting it short. He proceeded to want to schedule the remaining days of the program & when I told him I was week to week with my schedule due to work & personal affairs, his tone changed & then he said I'd have to try to come in at least 3 other days for cardio. But I was told by Victor that going in to do cardio on our own time is optional. He continued to emphasize cardio was mandatory & it continued over texts as well (photos attached). During the workout, I was offended that he didn't want to challenge me like I thought trainers would & proceeded to have me go through the workouts like it was my 1st time in a gym. When I was able to squat with a 20lb kettlebell, he feigned shock that felt like sarcasm. I ultimately had to cancel my program as my work schedule changed. In hindsight, it turned out to be a huge blessing in disguise as idk how much longer I could've tolerated Brian's condescending tones, sarcasms, & constant pressure to incorporate cardio on my off days even though I was told by Victor it was completely optional. There was also a point where he texted me to try to set a schedule but the 2nd paragraph had something that clearly wasn't meant for me but he sent it anyways & the tone seemed really unprofessional. In closing, Victor was courteous enough to grant me a refund in the amount of the remaining sessions I had left which was 11; So I received a refund of $525 ($55/session x 11 but minus $80 processing fee). While I was talking to Victor about the refund, Brian was chirping on the side trying to get Victor to not refund me the session that I had missed due to stomach issues; When he initially told me in the text he'd tell Victor to NOT charge me as it was an emergency situation. I thought it was funny he was trying to do that cause when I had to postpone, he was trying to get me to schedule a makeup asap & when I scheduled for the next morning, Brian decides to text me after midnight to cancel himself cause he said he wasn't feeling well (2nd picture). So it's ok for Brian to just send a text in the middle of the night to cancel, without 24 hr notice, but when an unexpected emergency happens to me, I should be charged for it? Thankfully, Victor isn't easily influenced by Brian & is a man of integrity & respect. In hindsight, I noticed certificates of other trainers in the office on the wall, including Victors & a Anthony but I didn't see any certificate for Brian; Which begs the question if he's even qualified? I guess we'll never know. Thank you again Victor for your professionalism & integrity. Unfortunately it didn't work out but I wish you continued success moving forward. Unsolicited advice: Brian would really benefit from some customer service & empathy training. Just saying. Also, per Victor, if you cancel your program before finishing it all the way thru, you aren't allowed to return/sign up with them again.. EVER. read more

I wanted to share my short but very positive experience with Fit Defined. The last couple of years with Covid and remote working, my workout routine has been almost non existent. I decided I wanted to be held more accountable and give myself a little boost to get some momentum and rebuild my fitness foundation. I started training with coach Tony and immediately felt like we had a good connection. In just a few short months I saw a lot of my strength and muscle mass return and Tony always made sure to challenge me and work on the areas that I was not so strong in, my core has never been this strong! Even when I injured my knee in a snowboarding accident, Tony made sure to accommodate the injury, respect my physical therapists' recommendations and adapted my workouts to focus on other areas. I really enjoyed working out at Fit Defined, sadly coach Tony had to move back to the east coast and my new work schedule gets in the way of daytime workouts so I had to cancel my subscription. Been working with my PT Anthony for over a month now. He is super sweet and knowledgeable. Explains each equipment and which muscle it's intended for. My golf swing improved and hitting drivers 10yards more working on specific target muscles. The trainers there are all encouraging and they seriously feel like friends. My wife has been training with FIT Defined since February 2021! She was never a fitness fan and what motivated her to begin training was a preventative measure to avoid injuries at work. Not only are the workouts varied, but they progress with each session. I am constantly challenged, my stamina is improving, and my form gets better as time passes. All the staff and patrons here are very nice, funny, and push you in a motivating way. If you concerned about the safety of the gym, the number of people inside is limited, there is fresh air circulating in the gym and there is more than six feet at all times between you and another person. I have been training here with Anthony since September. I am very grateful to have found this gym. I've tried different personal trainers at other gyms like 24 hour fitness and other small gyms and this is my best experience yet. I was looking for a trainer to guide and teach me proper form for my strength training. A friend of mine happened to find this gym and just signed up and gave me the green light. I am in my health and weight-loss journey and needed to incorporate strength training because I do not want bat wings and hanging skin lol. In addition as I am aging, I started having bone spurs/arthritis so I needed to strengthen my muscles around my knee (and every else, come on now). Coach Victor is such a great trainer because he guides and motivates you. I am a beginner when it comes to strength training. His knowledge and wisdom are rich and I am so glad I signed up and got the package. I have tried fitness bootcamp several years ago, and they just threw you in there with the advanced level people. They told me to just copy people while doing the 25 minute circuit doing burpees, HIIT, renegade & etc. My first day there, within the first 10 minutes I felt like I was going to die, as if my heart was going to burst out of my body, literally. I had zero experience, so I felt like I was this weak puppy keeping up with a pack of hungry wolves. In a month I injured myself because I didn't get any one on one training, no warm up, you just jump in there to complete the circuit. I paid for a 3-month program but couldn't get a refund so that was such a bad experience. Now, Fit Defined, you get a one on one training. Coach Victor works with my pace and level. In just two weeks, I have lost 10 pounds (that included healthy and restricted diet of course). Coach Victor gives you nutritional advice also. My dad found Victor on yelp, we saw that Fit Defined had an overwhelmingly great reviews on yelp and in a 10 mile radius from our house in Anaheim. I join Fit Defined PT after looking through different several online working studios that offer similar training but as many improvement like this. My trainer is Brian who is so helpful and supportive throughout my training. Everyone is so accommodating with my ever changing work schedule and they are willing to make effort so YOU can meet your goal.
