Full disclosure, I joined this group of studios. I tried them last year and found it too pricy…read more But then as I went around to other places in town, I just kept thinking about this workout format and the way I felt after doing some of the workouts. I did a trial run earlier this summer, and just bit the bullet and joined after that. As a result, Ive been to this studio a number of times recently, I found tis location to be perfect some days. Its much smaller than the Tonawanda location, which is good and bad. Good because there are fewer people in each class, bad because its often full for each class. Ive never been here with more than one instructor, and at Tonawanda's there is almost always 2, if not three but I imagine that has to do with size of class. The format is this - They create 6 workouts (Mon-Sat) which they then do for 4 weeks. Each workout is designed to hit different areas of the body, and some days have more weight and less cardio than others, they mix it up. Each class starts with the same tape to get everyone stretched out and ready for the next 50 min. Then there is a short cardio burst to get the blood flowing, and a longer section with some burpees or squats or whatever they think of. Then you pay attention while the instructor shows you what each exercise of the day is. By week four those demos don't take quite as long, but they still cover them all each day, and show you the various different levels for each exercise. Well trained group of instructors. Then the class starts, usually that portion is between 22-25 min. as you go from exercise to exercise. There may be some sort of 3 min end exercise, they often involve squats Ive found. Then the same cool down tape plays and everyone does that. Class ends as the instructor brings everyone into the middle for a "tip of the day". Sometimes those are super interesting, other times they are so-so. I don't think those are spelled out from corporate, I think they make them up themselves, which could explain why some are better than others. They have improved their website experience by joining mindbody, so that's nice. There is another location coming in Cheektowaga this fall. I look forward to checking that out too. This place is the home of the "6 weeks 20 lbs" challenge, and you'll have challengers in most classes. I cannot stress enough how much support these people get from the instructors and members in their goals. Most hit the goals if they show up to class and follow the diet plan. If you want to come try a class, PM me and Ill see if I can help make that happen.

They have the infamous 6 week 20 lb challenge where you get your money back if you succeed, just make sure you read the small print before you join so you know what you need to do to get your money back. But honestly, even if you don't. I feel like these workouts are worth it!

Located next to Omaha Steak on Transit, this new studio is very bright and loud. Outside there are a few painted orange bikes chained to what are presumably bike parking spots. I'm guessing it's part of the overall "image" but I'm not sure it really makes sense given the location. These classes are 60 min. Timed. When you enter you sign the usual release. Then you get one of their heart rate monitors to wear. You borrow those until you buy a series and then you either are given one or have it buy one of theirs (I'm not sure which). It ties into their machine which you will refer to during class. Your Polar HR monitor won't synch with their system. Each class is divided randomly by the instructor. Half go to treadmills and half to "the floor". If you are in the treadmill group you spend the next 25-30 min on various levels of the treadmill. You can walk, jog, run, they are able to work with all levels. You work in time slots and the instructor calls them out periodically. They get your heart rate going up and down. The other group is working in the floor and rowers. They have you do various floor exercises from weights to push-ups to TRX and more. It's numbered reps at your own pace. Interspersed are sessions on the rowers. There are a few blocks in the floor session as well and the instructor leads you through them. The floor is a super organized area and has equipment for all. This is a proven program in many other cities across the country. They have a system and are tied into each other. Everyday they have a new program to run through so each class is different. Same program at all locations daily. They play loud music and the instructor has a mic that they often yell into. It's loud. You can buy a series of 4 sessions for $17.50 each, or a series of 8 for $13 each. I believe you have to use a series in a month. I like the memberships where you pay monthly and can go as many or few times as you like. Since they don't seem to have prices and packages listed on the website not sure this exists but no one has mentioned it to me. Given the pricing, which I find pretty high since you are in a group of 20+ with one instructor only, this is a 3 star place to me. It's also a chain. But I'm giving it the 4th star for being very clean and very sleek. I wish them great success. I'll buy sessions when there's a sale. I liked it enough at a price of $10 or less a session. But it's high priced given the low staff to client ratio and danger in doing things wrong as a result. They do have 2 or more sales people at all times it seems. So you know where the focus is.
