Unfortunately, one employee, Mason, repeatedly spoke to me in a way I found rude and unprofessional during class, publicly "correcting" me despite my using modifications that other instructors had explicitly approved due to health reasons. To avoid further issues, I stopped taking his classes. Outside of class, I asked Mason a simple question about baked goods he sells at the studio, and he ignored me entirely--looking away and not responding. After that interaction, the environment noticeably shifted. Staff who had previously been friendly stopped acknowledging basic greetings, avoided eye contact, and treated me differently than other clients. Sophie also participated in this behavior. I was only attempting basic politeness and engagement related to the practice. The behavior felt deliberate and exclusionary, not incidental. For example, when I reached 300 classes at this studio, no one asked me to sign the barre--despite that milestone being clearly tracked in the system. I had signed at 100 classes previously and went on to complete 50 more classes after reaching 300, yet it was never acknowledged. I was consistently polite and respectful. The change in treatment was noticeable and unexplained. I stayed longer than I should have because I needed consistency while ill, but the passive-aggressive exclusion continued. As an unambiguous Black woman in a predominantly white space, this experience felt like microaggressive ostracization rather than a misunderstanding. I contacted ownership when I left, but no meaningful action was taken. I'm sharing my experience so others don't encounter this kind of treatment during a vulnerable time in their lives.

The class options and times make it easy to show up, the studio is spotless, and everything runs smoothly without feeling rigid or cold. What really makes this studio stand out is the instruction. The teachers are paying attention. They correct your form, they want you doing the workout correctly, and it shows. This isn't a "do your own thing in the corner" kind of class. You feel guided, supported, and challenged in the right way. I especially loved my class with Emily. She was able to gauge exactly what I was doing incorrectly and came over to help me in a way that felt thoughtful and encouraging. I genuinely appreciated that level of awareness. They also make an effort to remember your name, which tells you everything about the culture and how much they value customer satisfaction. I leave class feeling stronger and mentally clearer every single time, which iswhy I keep coming back. If you're even on the fence about barre, take one class here. You may get hooked too.

Very cute little studio in Pasadena! They have lockers and restrooms. Most people wear toe socks,…read morebut you can wear regular socks too. The classroom size is pretty big - about 20-30 people and they have a livestream too for people joining remotely. Restrooms are fully stocked with deodorant, perfumes, etc. The class itself is a mix of abs, stretching, and easy workouts (imagine pulsing a 2 lb weight 50 times). Parking was easy as there's paid parking structures nearby all around. For class, if you find the Pasadena city owned parking structures, it's just $1 to park for the hour and change.

The instructors I've taken have always mentioned modifications and making sure to listen to your body. Additionally, I was able to text Kat beforehand about what the parking situation is like (they're in a complex with Trader Joe's) and scheduling was very easy. For my first class, someone walked me through exactly what I would need and what to generally expect - there was no scrambling for weights or searching for a Pilates ball. They also told me that if I'm running late to class, I can call and they will set up a station for me! I also have a membership through one pass select, and they haven't treated me any differently than a "regular" member, which I so appreciate. Overall, I can't wait to continue my journey here and I highly recommend this studio.

There have definitely been periods when I've been on and off, especially during the pandemic or just because life was lifing, but I'm happy to see this studio still going strong after all these years. Jordan, the owner, is absolutely phenomenal, and there are several instructors and classes that I absolutely love and highly recommend. I really enjoy Jordan's hot yoga flow classes, and my other favorites include Jaimi (yes, we share the same name and spelling!), who teaches an excellent hot yoga sculpt class, and Manndola of DolaFit. If you take Manndola's class, come prepared and get your mind right because you are going to WORK! His classes are a great mix of cardio and strength training, and I've always walked out feeling like I can do anything. I also really enjoyed Ashby's classes and definitely miss taking them. There have been quite a few instructors who have come and gone over the years, and while I recommend some more than others, that's really just a matter of personal preference and instructor style. I love a challenging class, so difficulty isn't an issue for me--it's more about the overall energy and vibe of the instructor. One thing to keep in mind is that a lot of the classes can get packed, so I recommend getting there at a good time to find parking and get settled in. Parking can be tough at times, especially when classes are busy. After nearly eight years, I'm still happy to support Jordan and White Heat Yoga. It's great to see a local studio continue to thrive for so long, and if you're looking for hot yoga, sculpt, cardio, or strength-focused classes, I definitely recommend checking them out. You will not be disappointed!
