Now that I've been to a few classes, I can say that even if I hadn't been staying close, I'd travel to get my training here! I was really impressed with the facility upon walking in. Honestly, years of driving down Old York Rd., I never noticed this place on the corner but looks are definitely deceiving from the outside. I was actually intimidated by how much space there was! I'm really glad there were water fountains too because I had forgotten my water bottle. Anyway, I was able to make it to mostly the midday gi classes that start at 11:30 and one evening nogi class and was glad to get instruction from different instructors, all black belts, and to spar with belts of all different levels. The academy where I train regularly in LA county is fairly young so we don't have too many higher level belts to train with so it was fun to continuously get challenged. I really enjoyed the focused skill training and the ample amount of time left in class to just roll. One thing that stuck out to me was that there was always room for everyone to start from standing instead of seated. Most academies I've been to start from sitting so I don't get much experience from standing, where all fights start from anyway so I was happy about that. I have to say, I LOVED the instructor and the experience. It was great. She checked in on me, explained everything, it was nice. However, I'm disappointed in a few things. Cost: ok we knew this would be pricey. However, just to sign up, it'll be about $120/month AND $120-ish for the required heart rate monitor. Required. So if you end up not liking it after a few months, you wasted a lot of money Customer service: I let customer service know that I was waiting on a work schedule before signing up since I needed to ensure I could make the process worth it, and attend the classes you get per month with my 2 jobs. I told this to customer service, told them when I would find out because I didn't want them to think I was ghosting them, but they kept calling me prior to that date. I can't sign up without confirming I can attend! Their customer service has continued to call without leaving voicemails (my VM is not full, I clear it after every voicemail). The only reason I know it's them is because I googled the number after my second missed call from them without a VM (I don't pick up unknown numbers due to all the spam calls). I'm really unhappy with the outreach without truly following up appropriately. I'm at home sick and unable to talk well, so once I get my voice back, I'll be calling them back to let them know my experience. Also the price is crazy expensive with really limited availability. Over $100/month for 4 classes a month that you are allotted. Update: I checked with my friend and they are leaving her voicemails and still calling her. However after this review they stoped calling me. I also continue to receive VM from others and never from OT.

The classes are very challenging and overwhelming at times, but the coaches are A+ material and will help you every step of the way. I rarely attended, and did not work out hard when I did. Sure, Nak Muay is not inexpensive. However, you are receiving the equivalent of a training session with every class. The instructors are personable, and high level competitors and/or professional fighters. The people in class next to you grow to be friends given that you are training together multiple times per week. This gym is also woman-friendly! That doesn't mean it has purple frilly mats. That means you will find other women in just about every class, and present as instructors, they are also ranked within the World Kickboxing Association. Lastly, the kids program is highly recommended. In just 6 months, our young niece saw a boost in confidence that translated to better grades at school and improved behavior thanks to the discipline that martial arts affords.

Not only did they help and support me. They helped, supported and guided my son. He's been a black belt for some time now. The training they did since day 1 to today has helped him develop himself and the confidence. There's a lot I can say but it will be a book. I'm writing today to say marital arts (any style really) will help your kids become better people in life as far as building confidence and strength. Here we are today. Done High School and just about to enlist in the army. I know boot camp is intense. What I'm not worried about is the physical training. Because he's already use to it. The drills in class will continue to drills in boot camp. I can't express this was one decision I will never regret. Martial arts is life no matter where you are!!!
