Has good pricing. Great cardio classes. Has a daycare. Only problem with the gym is it is small so it has limited machines to use.

Just wanted to update, on the cancellation process. Based on a lot of the reviews online it seems like you're bound to get screwed when trying to quit. But I quit last month and wasn't charged this month so everything is good. You just have to go down there in person by the 14th of the month (to not be billed the following month), give some BS reason why you're leaving even though they'll try and talk you out of it (which was annoying), and sign a receipt/form to confirm it, and you're good to go. Again, as long as you cancel by the 14th of the month, your last payment will be the following day and you'll still have 30 days to use the gym. No big deal. read more

I've been Leary about going to another gym after having a bad experience at another one. But the moment I walked in to Fitness 19 I was greeted by Bo with a great smile.. hello.. and hug I knew this was a friendly place. I liked it because it wasn't a huge gym. The equipment is kept up and cleaned. Also the floor is maintained several times throughout the day. There is a place for different classes to take or stretch out or work out with other fitness equipment. I like that there is a sauna in the ladies room( I can't wait to try that out). This is a terrible company/gym. I was charged a late fee during my first month of membership after they failed to enter my banking info properly. I cancelled my membership after two months and have just been billed an annual fee along with yet another month's membership fee. When I enrolled, the employee said the annual membership fee was waived. These people are not trustworthy nor would I ever recommend them. read more

You can't beat the great prices! This place is definetly worth checking out! It beats the meat heads and crowds at other places like 24hour fitness. It does lack available classes for those into zumba or pilates. However it is a decent gym at a great price and it has all the things you need to get back into shape. I signed up at $7/month to me thats an excellent deal. The gym hours are limited especially on the weekends but hey you cant beat the price! if your into cardio or free weights you'll never have to wait in line which is such a plus!! read more

She answers all questions I've had with a positive attitude and a very helpful mindset. This is a great place to work out. Parking place is clean. Close to Target (soon), some eating places (coz you know, after working out you get hungry!), Big Lots, etc. Manager Frankie is pretty awesome and easy to talk to, payment plans are pretty clear, no contracts-you can cancel anytime of the year although you'll still need to pay for the annual fee. Bathrooms may need a bit of renovations and/or cleaning, tho the sauna has just been renovated. Awesome place. read more

Okay....here is the thing...USUALLY, I am pretty darn happy with this gym! It's smaller, super clean, staff is kind and supportive, and has just about everything you need (childcare room could be updated but I don't bring my kids so no biggie for me). BUT....HUGE BUT....lately I've become VERY annoyed with the quality of their treadmills. They desperately need some maintenance (right now at least two of them actually have "out of order" signs on them--no biggie). BUT the others don't work properly!! They either don't maintain their incline or else the belts are worn so badly that they make audible noises and you can actually feel the strain beneath your feet when you're running/walking (grinding), which is NOT comfortable and quite annoying! COME ON GUYS!!! Please fix these things! We love YA but quality is declining read more

This fitness 19 gym has good machines friendly staff but the only two things that they lack are not having good air conditioning. The people in their start to sweat righ away leaving the machines and benches soaked in sweat. They dont enforce the bring your towel rule so all the machine get nasty. Today i went to work out and two nasty sweaty guys left the benches with disgusting drips of sweat. I had to wipe one off sweat on one of the incline bench i had to use. I hope they fix this issue. read more

Cancelled membership due to sauna being down off and on since I joined over 2 years ago. Currently sauna has been completely down since November due to a fire. My issue is that they are charging me for maintenance fee for equipment that has not been up and running for months and months. Very bad business practice. Many Fitness 19 customers have jumped ship to another local gym due to equipment down, hours of operation and many had issues with cancellation still being charged. I hope this company takes heed before they lose their entire customer base. Customer Service holds cred when you do the right thing! read more

This is my true first hand experience coming in here. Came in with a newspaper offer allowing for a 3 day free trial. I'm a resident here in oceanside, set to leave next a month and was only looking for a gym I could work out at short term. I was honest and open about it. I was willing to pay the $40 to work out here for the month if it filled my needs. So the process starts, an employee helps me, shows me the gym, and then after the tour is getting ready to approve this advertised offer, when a manager, his name is Frank, interjected from across another desk (while helping other guests mind you) and told his employee to deny me the trial. His reason? I would only be there for a month. Simply because I was honest of my short term arrangement, they refused to honor their word, and wasted my time as well. Never have I ever seen something like this before. No way I'll ever give these guys my business. I think I'll check out Chuze instead, it's twice as clean and the managers are much nicer. After this experience, I looked at other recent yelp reviews, it seems this place is really shady! Guess I'm lucky to not have given them my billing information. read more

I don't appreciate being harass by one of your employees. I'm a customer and I pay my monthly and yearly dues. I came to fitness 19 of Oceanside this afternoon like I normally do on Monday. To get my work out routine in. I normally work out on the life fitness machines including cable machine and I also work out with light weights. I'm not a body builder, I just work out as much as I can to try to stay fit and my job as a Law enforcement officer acquire me to stay fit. Today I was doing my normal routine on the double cable machine when I was approach by a trainer that works at this site; but it appears that he wasn't on the clock today and just wanted to work out and he ask me" if he could use the machine" I told him "no" and than he ask me "how long will I be using it for" and I told him "I was in the middle of my work out and it will be a little bit more time before I'm done". He than walked to a bench that was next to me and he started working out with free weights. About five minutes went by and than he approach me again and told me "there are other machines I could go use" and than he said "he didn't appreciate that I told on his boss about him kicking me off a machine when he had a client a couple weeks ago and he went on to say all I had to say was no". I told him "I didn't want to be rude because he was with a client". I told him "I reported him to the manger because I felt that he could have used a different machine with his client". "I was 5 minutes into my work and I too am a paying customer". He said " Yeah" and than he told me "that he see me here all the time". Once he said that I took it as being harass and a threat. I responded by tell him "hey look I'm a Law Enforcement officer I deal with shit every day on the job and that I don't need to be taking your shit right now. Then he said "yeah" and walked away. Honestly the worst gym ever... before I singed up I got the one day free pass, and I worked out for an hour, and seriously they hounded me the whole time to sign up! And when I went back to get my ID the guy would NOT leave me alone about signing up, he kept saying oh I'll give you these deals, I'll make your full payment into 2 payments and they will come out at different times and blah blah blah.. so i said screw it, I signed up.. all together it was $77 i think, and then $14.99 a month, well all that sh*t that he said that was going to happen about my payments DIDN'T go through, my account got charged 2x then a again.. so now my account is over drawn, and I called and the guy could care less.. he said he would give me a call back withing 5 minutes.. its been OVER AND HOUR!! I'm Infuriated!!!!!! Yeah the equipment is nice, but no matter what time you go there ITS ALWAYS BUSY!! so when you wanted to work out for an hour, no, it will be about an 1 1/2 hours to get your full work out done. Also I have a kid, and they have a kids room, the people who watch the kids are rude, and the toys and stuff are dirty!! Its gross, I will never take my child there!!!! I would NOT recommended this gym, honestly just go buy a work out DVD and your set. I got the P90X and I'll just do that. So if you don't wanna be screwed over, don't go to this gym!!!! read more

I wasn't sure I'd feel comfortable at a gym, since I'm not very athletic. But the staff was very welcoming, showing me how to use the equipment and answering all my questions. And the patrons are nice, too-- a mix of old and young, buff and flabby, serious fitness types and drop-in moms. No-one has ever made me feel like I don't belong there. And the staff really work at keeping the place clean--no sweaty-gym-locker vibe here! read more

This place is a piece of work., when I signed up I was told I could cancel by phone or fax, which was important due to my traveling. I called in to cancel and they told me to send a letter. 4 letters later, they said "it was lost". I am 1 of hundreds of people who have had their letters "lost". They have you jump through hoops to retain your membership fees. I signed up under misrepresented circumstances and will be filing with the bbb. This gym is trash. The manger frank is incompetent and his staff is clueless. Give your money to a gym that deserves it. read more

Horrible sales tactics...I walked in last nite after driving by and seeing this location open....not far from my home...and looks like a great deal for working out. you know what they say...being in sales myself, I walked in and inquired about the cost...$14 sign up and $14 month..not bad...should have realized...came back this evening and walked in again and had the pleasure to speak one of the sales reps on the floor...one of the sales reps who told me the cost last evening...well as i thought...not $14 plus $14 but another $49 to lock in pricing...not happy and told them this was a sleazy way to sell and he then told me all gyms have this fee...(called a "lock in" fee) for pricing...BS!!! when I told him it was a horrible way to sell he asked if I wanted a Two for one deal to make up for this...to make it work...The gym is not that large and he kept telling me how much they have spent on equiptment and how they will keep it up...sure!!! They also tried selling against 24hour fitness by telling me that they have 19K members whcih means you have lines for equiptment...at least not for now...I will be shocked if this business does not go down the same trail as Family Fitness before it was sold to 24 hour fitness...sleazy op and watch out.... read more

I have rejoined this gym since planet fitness is one of the worst gyms I've ever been to. Now that I'm back in Oceanside its convenient, clean, except for the few occasional people that do not wipe down the machines after sweating all over them (gosh i hate that). I have to say that I am still impressed on how they maintain their gym and professionalism. I wish they could expand their lot/size however I will continue my membership as long as I'm still in Oceanside. I do wish they would extend their gym hours to 12am. read more

I have a horrible experience trying to cancel my membership in this sub par gym after moving. It's almost as if they want to get you for every penny they can. I don't even live in the area anymore. I know I already paid first and last month when I signed up. I called the first time and tried to have them cancel it by just verifying my info. The staff was rude and tried to make me feel dumb for even attempting to cancel it like that. After sending them a letter with my signature and my account number they still are charging me for another thirty days. I'm by no means cheap...it was more of a convenience thing since I lived like three blocks away. But if I already paid first and last month then that means my number should be good for two months after cancelling. How does that make any sense? If I hadn't given them my checking account information I would have changed my credit card number a long time ago. Hindsight 20/20 I would have rather paid more money. Absolutely the WORST customer service I've ever encountered. My husband has been a member for numerous years and was recently hospitalized. My day consists of working 2 jobs and visiting him in the hospital not to mention trying to maintain all household duties as well as raising a family. Due to current health conditions my husband is UNABLE to walk let alone utilize a gym. When I called to cancel his membership the Manager informed me I'd have to go out of my way to "stop in" at the gym to cancel the membership. I guess there's no room for "emergencies or exceptions in ANY circumstances". So even if you drop dead.....plan on making an appearance to "Cancel" your membership. They make NO exceptions. Looks like maybe after physical therapy for my husband along with other friends and families we'll need to explore alternate options for gyms. Note to the DM or "FRANCHISE" owner, whomever you might be, because the Manager did NOT find it relevant for me to speak with you....you might want to explore alternate options for managers......maybe ones with a heart. read more
